Do you trust Magical Epress to deliver your luggage?

The few times I’ve taken a flight where luggage delivery was possible, yes I trust them.

Just checking a small bag with liquids

What sort of liquids? You sure you need to check it?

We've never had an issue. Lately though I prefer just grabbing my own bags so I don't have to pack a change of close and sunscreen in my carry-on. Plus I bring window decorations and I like to take care of that as soon as we arrive.

Everyone should pack a change of clothes and a small thing of sunscreen in their carryon, in case the airline misplaces their checked bags.

My family has also used them multiple times and we've never had a problem. I believe that every time we've used them our luggage has actually been in our room before we even got there, so we've never had any trouble with something like lost luggage.

For two years in a row now, the service didn't send my friend's bag to the airport after she checked it at the hotel before going home. Both times, it was still at the hotel when she got home. They delivered it to her house the following day. Since then, I stopped using the service. It isn't a big deal to take it myself - suitcases have wheels.

Nevermind.

Just an FYI. Checking baggage at the resort and having it delivered to the airport is a completely different service than luggage delivery from the airport to the resort. Checking bags at the resort to be sent to the airport is handled by a company called Bags Incorporated. Magical Express and luggage delivery from the airport to the resort is run by Mears Shuttle. Since this thread was asking specifically about Magical Express bag delivery by Mears I felt the need to explain.

BAGS handles the luggage both ways. Mears operates the buses.

Implicitly. We’ve never had an issue. But we always do pack swimsuits in the carryon, so we are at the pool ASAP. Same thing on the going home day. On check out day we do however bring our luggage with us on ME as our airline doesn’t have advance bag service at the hotel.

Oops. Got bad info from the guy delivering our luggage to our room from the airport then. Thanks.

BAGS has a special sorting facility where they work directly with the TSA, including carrying all the necessary security clearances to handle baggage, etc. Mears just isn't involved in that aspect at all. Heck, if they were, they could just bring your bags on the bus with you (or at least the very next one!)

In January, all of the luggage tags somehow came off my luggage. The resort tag, the airline tag, the souvenir luggage tag....all of them. I got a call (while checking in) from DME asking me to describe my bags so they could deliver. With no tags AT ALL on the bag, they were still able to get my bag to me...all within about an hours time. We have never had problems before, but I was pretty impressed with how that handled that issue.
Wow! That’s crazy! How could all 3 tags go missing :scared: what do those luggage handlers do with those bags? Yikes. I always have my name, address and phone written on a piece of paper inside luggage too. Great that DME was able to find it.

To me the luggage delivery is the best part of Magical Express. I always use it if I can.

It is smart to pack for the first 24 hours in your carry on, just in case the airline misdirects your checked luggage, so I have no need of those other bags right away. And I want to get to my resort asap! So I find no reason to waste time waiting for my luggage, and then hauling it to the bus, when DME will do that for me.

Good to know! The last time I used the yellow tags, which was 2 years ago, my airline (Delta) tore the yellow tag off my luggage while I was showing my ID at the counter! While I was talking to the counter agent, some other worker just walked up to my luggage behind the agent and tore it off without asking! I happened to notice it and freak out, and luckily, I had extras with me and I handed them another yellow tag which they put on for me. After that I was worried about the luggage during the entire 8 hour flight, but later got the luggage in the hotel fine, although I had to wait for a few hours and that was nerve wrecking. I had my baby with me and I really needed all my luggage.
So, do I trust DME? Yes. Do I trust the airlines? Not so much. So last year, I dragged my luggage and baby through the airport, went upstairs to eat lunch, went back downstairs to get on the DME. It was rather inconvenient but worth the peace of mind.
But I'm happy to hear that even if the yellow tag had an accident Disney would still take care of the luggage situation.

Before kids, I never used the service. Now that I have 2 little ones plus a double stroller to wrangle, it’s probably one of my favorite Disney features. I always pack a change of clothes for both me and my kids anyways just in case someone gets sick or has a spill during the travel day. On my most recent trip, our luggage arrived to our room about 10 minutes after we did. I’m sure, like with everything, there are issues here and there but I've mostly only heard positive stories.

I only had an issue once where the magical express tag somehow came off my bag and didn't get it until the next day. Disney more than made up for the delay in retrieving my bag as the issue wasn't discovered until after 11 pm since I went straight to the parks after check-in and got back to the room with no bag. All other trips, no issues.

Yes, that's the point- to make the start of your trip easy. Just be sure you've entered your correct flight information and tagged your luggage.

The first time we used it, there was a mistake. As soon as we got to our resort my two oldest were hungry and our youngest was sleeping so hubby stayed in the room with her while I took the older two to the food court. While we were there, he said they tried to deliver our luggage, but it wasn't our luggage. Luckily he was there to tell them, but if he hadn't been there who knows how long it would have taken to figure it out.

We used it on our return trip and our luggage made it home okay.

On a second trip, we just picked up our luggage and brought it to the bus with us. On our return flight, we gave them our luggage early in the morning and then hung out at the resort for the day and it made it home safely.

Used it many many times without issues - but we carry 24 hours of necessities in our carry on just in case. I also put our resort info on our ID tags in the ID pocket on the suitcase just in case the yellow DME tag is dislodged.

When we arrive prior to room ready time we use the luggage delivery feature as I would much rather have them deliver it direct to the room than get it from baggage claim myself, drag it on the bus, check in only to have to go back an store it with bell services anyway.

If we arrive after room ready time its 50/50 if we get our own bags - usually only if we land after 6ish.

On the return we always use RAC on the way home if our flight times allow it - saves so much time at the airport!

100%

I’ve used it on multiple trips, and it was perfect every time. Same for the Magical Express transportation. :)

Disney has provided me with excellent service on both.
