Midwest Dismeet 2018

I believe the weekend of June 22 - 24. Friday -Sunday or Thursday to Sunday, is the date we spoke of. We are able to make it. Iluvdisneymom, Melissa, would like to come as well. If we decide to do this, we should make reservations soon. Expecting snow this weekend, but north of us more like a foot! Hello SPRING, do you need directions!

Barb, since you've been to Thompson Causeway before, who do we need to contact for ressies? Is it through the park or a ressie service?
Since Teamubr is camping this weekend and may not have service, let's maybe try to get something worked out by end of next week and we can make res.
I think we are all probable about the same length, can you recommend specific sites so we can be together?
We aren't gonna have it as bad as you for the snow, but yeah Spring can start any time now.

OK great. Please let me know what site you are getting so we can be nearby. Getting excited

My apologies everyone. When I log on to the DIS, I always just go to the camping forum and view those posts. I forget there is a second forum for camping. Barb messaged me on the trip just yesterday. We currently are in Cincinnati OH at the Great Midwest Homeschool Convention and staying at the local KOA (Lebanon). June is usually hay, hay, hay, alhapha, hay for us. In addition we are working on phase II small animal barn. I wish I could commit and we sure would love to come, but we wouldn't know for sure until a week or so out.

Let me get back home and I'll will get back in touch.

I am booked into 122, next to Barb and Bill. Thanks for the heads up on it being big enough. I’m looking forward to seeing everybody and spending some time on the river.

Sweet, I am booked in 120, so we're on the other side. Hopefully it'll work out for you Melissa.
Maybe check the link and see what the cancellation policy is? Maybe you could book so you have the site and cancel if there is no charge if done in time?

Looks like you can cancel up to the day before and only pay a $10 fee. But even at $20 a night, losing the whole weekend fee is not a big deal.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to our mom, 91 years and running! She taught all five of us the adventure of life, love, camping, laughing, seeing sunsets, embracing friendships, serving, giving to the less fortunate, and faith that endures forever. Mom, soar high, you earned your wings. Nancy Wayne Luce Barnard, 1927 - 2018.

So sorry to hear about your Mom. At 91 she lived a good long life. Our thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Our prayers and hearts are with you. God bless you as you rejoice in a life fully lived, and comfort you as you mourn her loss!

I'm so sorry for your loss, Barb & Bill. God Bless you all during this time. My prayers are with you and your family.

Uh,Houston, we have a problem. DW checked website for Thomson Causeway today and it says campground is closed till further notice due to potential future flooding?
Has anyone else seen this? If so, we probably oughta start looking around

I would think this is a normal Spring thing. Down at the StL end of the river, levels are way below normal for this time of year.

By June, I bet all will be fine.

I know the Mississippi is high in Dubuque, way over banks in the lower lands, as well as their campground by the Dog Track. I am guessing that a month will make a difference. I will also keep an eye on this. Jim, is there flooding in St. Louis? Hopefully a springtime thing, and will recede soon. Here is to warmth and sun coming back to the Midwest. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms.

Barb,

Mississippi down here is actually low for the spring. The river is at 21 ft and expected to drop later in the week. Flood stage is 30 ft. It looks like the forecast for Dubuque is the river will be back to normal by next weekend. I'm not sure if the campground is flooded, but a month should be time to clean up anything minor.
