2018 Free Dining Watch Thread V3

We are going in November with several other families and one was asking about the construction going on at CBR. Does anyone know the extent of the construction? And when it will be wrapped up?

I’m new and not sure how to post a new question so I’m replying to one. My question is about the room only discount. Is that different than the usual 25% they give for a deluxe resort?

Please check the resorts board. Off topic for free dining watch
Thanks!

Are you asking about FD or RO?

You will be eligible for Free Dining for your entire trip as long as your reservation begins on a date that FD is offered.

A RO discount is only valid for the actual nights that a RO discount is offered. (e.g. If RO discount is Jan 1 - 5 and you stay until Jan 8, you will get a RO discount up until the 5th but not after that.)

Does this help?
I had heard from two other sources that RO discount is based on arrival date, just like FD is. We are checking in either Nov. 19 or Thanksgiving Day Nov. 22. The idea is that if Nov 19 is eligible for FD then we do that. If not, we check in on Thanksgiving instead. The rumors point to is not getting FD, so we should remove the first few days off our ressie and check in on Thanksgiving so that the majority of our trip is after the crowds leave...checking out Dec. 1. When discussing possible RO as a fallback, both of these 2 sources said that it is unlikely, although possible, that we xouco get an RO for a Thanksgiving check-in. That both said it is based on check-in date. So...if they drop an RO special beginning, say, Mon. Nov. 26, and we check in on Thursday. Nov 22, would we get the RO for the final days if our trip that might otherwise qualify, or do we miss out on the RO based on our check-in date? Ultimately, our SW flight booking window will open in late May. What we don't want is to book the flights, get our ADR's, and further plan the schedule for two families doing some things together and other things separately, all based on the second choice check in date of Thanksgiving (assuming that Nov. 19 misses FD this year)....and then RO drops and we miss it because our check-in date was moved bc we missed FD.....and then try to rearrange everything to accommodate RO date. I mean, an RO discount for 6 of our 10 days is fine if we can't get all 10 days, but is it true that we might miss out altogether??

So on the day FD drops, if I want to make a ressie for 2 rooms do I need to do 2 separate reservations? Or is there a way to book 2 rooms on 1 reservation?

Personally I've always booked 2 reservations online as once I enter the total number of people it no longer offers the resort I'm looking for. Not sure if it's different if you call in?

Same one

I was wondering, we have to book two rooms due to our family size. If we want to catch fd online before the phones open, can we both book 2 separate rooms and then call in to get them joining? And can you do that on the same account?

If you have an AP can you purchase (with your package) the ticket requirement to get FD and then use those tickets toward your AP renewal the following year?
I have not done this myself, but I have a good friend who has done this in the past. Hopefully someone here who has first-hand experience can chime in for you.:)

We canceled our November trip, as these days I'm not even sure it's worth it and I didn't want to gamble the money the way things were going, and yet... here I am.... wishing $2000 would magically drop in my bank account so we could go on a quick trip. Doesn't help that we looked through the picture album of our 2015 trip last night and the kids suddenly started crying wanting to go back.... blah.

A tad off topic, The other promotion offered at the same time as free dining is the room only discount of up to 30% between August 1 and November 5, 2016 . With a minimum of 1 night and a maximum of 14 nights.
When you say "offered at the same time" do you mean to imply that there will be no similar room discount at all after Nov.6?

Wondering if AOA is going to be included too
