I used this old saying in my email and call;

Alienating repeat customers never ends well. As enthusiastic supporters of a business they can become equally and most of the time "enthusiastic activist" against a business. As they say in the restaurant business, give them a great meal and they will tell 10 people about it..give them a bad meal and they will tell a 100 to stay away.

I voted for other....
I told the nice lady that called me that if they are going to charge a premium price that I will expect a premium experience, meaning no problems..and plan on letting them know about any little problems that I would normally let go.
In other words "Make them earn it"

Must comment... DW and I are not affected. DVC members, we never take a car.

MANY folks have "gotten a call". Notice that a PHONE CALL can not be documented, unless you go through many hoops to RECORD it.

This is why Disney CALLS you.

Please - consider rejecting a call back. Ask for EMAIL, which CAN be documented. Phone call? Corporations can tell you anything that makes you feel good.

Now, for the VERY GOOD people that have gotten these lovely "phone calls"? Nope, in NO WAY do I suspect that you are lying:). Rather, I suspect you have been fed data that can NOT be documented that made you feel good :). You have done your best to tell us your IMPRESSION of the conversation. And that's all you can do, with a phone call.

None of this is Disney specific. It's far more about how to receive documented feedback from ANY large firm.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.


I may be naive, but I’m pretty confident they are transcribing as much of the feedback as possible, as “my” CM paused and said something to the effect that he was waiting for the computer to “catch up” to his typing and that it was being slow. But regardless, my complaints were documented in my original e-mail. There were no promises made or commitments given in the phone conversation.
 
I see people throwing out numbers of money lost that Disney will if you cancel your vacation. Someone else put that they are looking at a possible revenue of approximately $137 million. If the parking revenue is going to be that much then I can't see them losing that much in lost trip revenues. Right now is a time for a lot of us to reflect on how much is closed and how much negative there is but can we honestly sit back here and say we won't go back when Star Wars Land opens up and the new Tron Ride opens at MK and the new stuff at Epcot. Can you imagine what a ticket is going to cost then? I only see the price going up from here. They will get more and more of our money somehow if we love it as much as we say. I say it all the time that I am not sure I am going back and this is my third year in a row going back because when I price other vacations although they are cheaper not all of them offer the overall value I get at Disney which has a lot to do with the rides, shows, and food. Its so hard loving Disney. Its definitely a love hate relationship.

We’ll go back, the difference is we’ll stay offsite. I’m not paying this fee.
 
I am going to look into that also but I feel like Disney will do something to punish us like more hours for guest or something.

I doubt it. They have not been adding benefits for on-site guests lately. They have generally been extending them to off-site like the 60 day FP window to DS hotels. Although you could argue that the ability to buy more FPs is a new benefit. Not a free one though.

IMO, paying for more FP's is not a benefit. We're already paying a good chunk of change for park tickets after all.
 
I have to admit my last one day stay at the Star Island prior to checking in at Disney I did feel like my room was like a prison cell once I got to Disney and had a huge room there. When I had told my family member who was on the first visit to Disney about the difference we paid in cost they even said that the room was better at Star Island but they liked being in Disney but didn't know if it was worth the cost.
 
I said something very similar in my email. I said I am considering cancelling my upcoming trip and we are prepared to drop about $10k all in, directly to Disney. But if we don't go, that's $10k less than they would have had. And if me and one more person cancels, that's $20,000 and if 10 people like me cancel, that's $100,000 and what happens when that number goes to 100, 1000, 10,000? One look at the numbers of new one star reviews on their FB page shows these numbers might actually have a basis in reality. I think that is what gets their attention.

Literally every single Disney survey I've taken asks, at some point, "how likely are you to return to WDW in the future?" As well as "How likely are you to recommend WDW as a vacation destination to family and friends?" They care about this a LOT.
I didn't tell them I was reconsidering since, bluntly, I'm not. As a DVC owner, I'm fairly well locked into future vacations unless I wish to rent points, and I don't just yet. I did reiterate each time he came back to the topic, though, that I could no longer recommend Disney to others.

I think you are correct which would be why he asked me twice if there was anything else I wanted to add.

You make some salient and telling points. They are going to offer more, and people will want to go. Prices will go up, and we'll still go. They're counting on it. I'm under no illusions my email will make a difference (or even 10K emails, though my caller did say they had been swamped with emails and calls--inundated I believe he said). However, I can stop telling others to go and relate just how expensive and greedy Disney has become.

In the end, we won't stop going. But, we've stopped spending as much money there (yeah, DVC already costs plenty). We've branched out some, and we spend more time around the resort. I may not break the Disney habit, but I'm reducing my footprint, and I'm no longer a walking billboard for them.

I pointed out that ticket prices continue to rise even as they were years behind on projects (Pandora) and some parks are half closed for constuction (DHS). So if they never right-size cost for value when people are getting less for their money for a daily park ticket (not even accounting for special ticketed events leading to less hours at a park for the daily ticket), all we can continue to expect is even higher % price increases on tickets when everything is actually open. Then what will prices look like for the average guest?

When I mentioned the special ticketed events he tried to explain that those were to give guests more unique experiences to choose from and not to make them spend more money. I responded by saying I love many of the special events and the ability to tailor my plans for these and tours help make my trips amazing. However, I pointed out that they don't offer discounts for park tickets on days when people get less hours if they choose not to attend an event and get less hours in the park. I told him that was part of my point - that as Disney adds more events and 'value' in some ways they don't ever adjust where value may decrease and then it's always more and more and more $$$ when it's not always made up for in value.

I am glad you mentioned that. It is definitely getting to be a lot. Honestly I am less upset about the parking as I get upset about having to pay for extra hours in the park and losing hours in others. More than that it makes me mad thinking I even have to pay full price to even get into HS right now. They should pay me to stay there the whole day.

They need people going to all 4 parks for crowd control so they want people at DHS, so why not discount day tickets now? Again, what's it going to be like when Toy Story Land and Star Wars are built and drawing crowds? Um, increased ticket prices again when we're paying now what we should be paying for a full park!

I skipped it 3 out of my last 4 trips, but have to admit I went my last trip and had a nice day And enjoyed Fantasmic. But it definitely wasn't worth a full day ticket! I sat and talked with a nice older couple, tried the Brown Derby for the first time, and kind of just strolled the shops looking at cool Star Wars stuff.

Yeah I see why. I can go there and hit RnR and ToT at rope drop and go at this point. I love Fantasmic but have found that I can not sit on those benches long enough to watch the whole show. They are so uncomfortable that I just can't do it.
