Anyone been to Sanaa with young kids?

Did you find they enjoyed it or was it more for you as the adult? We have a 5pm reservation so are hopeful for a window table as the first dinner seating (we'll get there early), and there are things on the kids menu that I know our 3 and 6 year old will eat. Mostly I'm thinking about the pace of the meal and their ability to sit through it. Is it very relaxed and slow? We try to be really conscientious about when our kids get squirmy / loud and not bothering other patrons... less concerned about it at character meals or buffets.

We are staying at AKL for the first part of our trip and also are eating at Boma for dinner. But since we are staying there wanted to try Sanaa too.

Thanks for any experiences or thoughts.

ETA: You know, I should have Googled first sorry and found an older thread but one that made me think my gut about not trying it this trip is right. But, any recent experiences more than welcome. :)

My kids enjoyed it, but then, I declared palak paneer and dal to be appropriate foods for 1 year olds, so they have a palate for that kind of stuff.

It's a typical table service. If they can do other TS they'll be fine there.

Sanaa is now a staple of our Disney trips. We went for the first time when our kids were 4 and 6 and they loved it. No issues at all with the food. They liked the bread service, some of the rice sides, and I think some of the standard Disney table service fare. Getting a table near the windows is of course a big plus. Our 4 year old got a little antsy while we waited for our entrees but nothing a quick stroll out to the nearby Savanna viewing area didn't fix.

Thanks so much. I've since learned you can get the bread service to go at the lounge, which is what we really wanted to try, so am thinking I may be sending the husband over to get it while we play in the pool. :)

My DS has gone to Sanaa multiple times since he was 3. It's beautifully decorated, and it's always fun to see an animal go by. Service is fairly quick. It is definitely not long and drawn out like a signature might be. I wouldn't hesitate to take young children there.

Yes my DD loved it when she was 2! She loved watching the animals. She got chicken breast and rice and really enjoyed it. I also think there was a paint your own dessert that she had fun doing.

Just back from our 2/7 to 2/13 trip.

We loved Sanaa and although we had no children with us there were many small children there who seemed to be enjoying themselves. I didn't pay attention to the children's menu or what children were eating. I think all of the window tables are for 4 people - any larger groupings eat a little further away. Be sure to take your children outside the restaurant to more closely observe the animals and talk with the cast member out there.

We have been several times with our kids (now 9). They eat a wide variety of foods so the menu isn't an issue for us. The restaurant is relaxed and we have never felt rushed there.

Don't necessarily go w/ the expectation that you will be seated right by a window. You may not be. There are fairly decent views from all around though, and you can always do some animal watching before/after dinner as well by checking out different vantage points around the resort.

Bravo! Isn't it great not having to worry about every restaurant serving chicken nuggets and neon yellow mac and cheese?

True story, when my younger was small I used to bring her to lunch meetings with clients at a small Thai restaurant. The owners would always make her a small portion of teriyaki fried rice because it worked great with her at 12-16 months or so.

How difficult is it to get a table by the window if we are willing to wait for one to open up? Is it even possible to wait for one?

We went for lunch with our almost 3 year old, she's middle of the road, not the most patient but can sit down for some time.

She's an adventurous eater so the food was fine, when she got tired of waiting we pointed out the animals, the food is slow because it's made to order. They messed up one of the dishes and made it right for us.

I think it's the kind of place that's good for dinner, you're winding down and not in a hurry to go anywhere, just relaxing to a good meal and watching animals

Sanaa is no different than any other sit down restaurant. I'd say it usually takes us an hour to have a meal there, though we sometimes intentionally prolong it as we like a good amount of time between our bread service and entrees.

We've been taking our daughter since she was 3 and its one of her favorites, largely because of the bread. And don't fret a window table. Yes it certainly can be nice, but the food is awesome savannah view or not.
