Will I get sick on FOP?

I get motion sick really easy. Soarin' makes me queasy so I just close my eyes. Thank you.

My wife is iffy on Soarin but doesn't get queasy or have to close her eyes. She hated the Harry Potter rides and doesn't do Star Tours.

She rode with me on FoP and she said that one time was enough for her. So I'd also agree that if you have severe motion sickness and Soarin makes you queasy, I'd skip FoP

My husband can handle Soarin’, got queasy on Harry Potter, downright miserable on Star Tours. He tried FoP, after about 30 seconds he took his glasses off and a few seconds later had to close his eyes and put his head down for the rest of it and will never do it again.

I was so sick I prayed I would not vomit. I was MISERABLE and will never ride again

My husband handles Soarin’ fine and can only do Star Tours in the front row (someone gave us this tip). He was very glad when FOP was over and said another 30 seconds would have done him in. It’s smooth, but lots of drops/free falling feelings that were very hard for him.

I get motion sickness quite easily. 7 Dwarfs was very unpleasant for me and won't touch Mission Space, Star Tours, etc.

When I went on FOP I had armed myself with Dramamine shortly before the ride. I wasn't desperately ill but definitely got queasy which was resolved quite well by closing my eyes at least 4 times in different areas. My adult daughter would not take Dramamine and did not like the ride at all, even though she didn't get actually sick. When walking off, she felt 'off' and didn't like the feeling.

I was determined to try it one more time 2 weeks ago as I wanted DH to go as I knew he would love it and wanted to go with him.

This time, I bought SeaBands at Walmart, took chewable Dramamine ONE HOUR and 10 minutes prior to the FP time (didn't plan it this way but I had the wrong FP time) and while entering the ride line, I chewed Ginger Mints (Trader Joes). Once I sat on the 'banshee', I threw Altoids (my absolute go to when queasy) in my mouth. Lo & Behold, it was 100% wonderful. I loved the ride. DH loved the ride. I very much intend to ride it and follow my goofy system every time I go (several times a year).

After rereading this, it sounds ridiculous. But it worked for me.

I get motion sickness and was ready for FOP to be over before it ended, but overall enjoyed it. I was a little dizzy afterwards.

Maybe go thru the que to enjoy all that and take the chicken exit just before you enter?

Oh dear! I get motion sick very easily, but I take Bonine every morning like clockwork while at Disney. Otherwise, I wouldn't even make it to the parks due to the bus ride. If I do okay on Soarin', will I be okay on FOP (with Bonine)?

Bonine to me is like taking Smartee candies. Only Dramamine helps me.

Bonine and Dramamine can be the same thing, as long as we are talking about the types that have meclizine as the active.

Yes, Bonine is meclizine, which doesn't help me ever. I take Original Dramamine which is dimenhydrinate .
I knew meclizine didn't work for me when I would take prescription Ativert (meclizine) and it did nothing.
Unlike Bonine, Dramamine makes some people drowsy. It doesn't do that for me.

I never travel without Dramamine.

I too get a bit nauseous from Soarin.....and I tried FOP and yep, I got sick. I got way more nauseous on FOP than Soarin. Its way more intense than Soarin. Hope this helps. You can try ginger pills....they do help sometimes. Not always though. Lol.

Honestly FOP is worth trying at least once. I went on it knowing that i'd get sick, only cause i wanted to try it out. I wanted to see what the hype was about. Its an amazing ride. Too bad I get sick though. :(

That's interesting. When I was in the ER for an acute dizziness attack last year, I was given meclizine. Which worked great, but also made me non-functional. So then my ENT gave me an Rx for meclizine to keep with me, but only 12.5 mg. He said the 25 mg meclizine they sell OTC is too high for most folks.

They sell both actives in Dramamine. Bonine only sells a meclizine version

It really is trial and error with these meds

My wife does ok with Soarin' and some other rides that would probably get motion sickness people pretty sick. She can't do Star Tours but can do the tea cups.... go figure. Anyway, there is a video out there on youtube from the POV of where you put your bags (a fixed, non-moving location) at the ride, which shows just how much movement there is. I showed this to her and she decided that Dramamine or not, there was no way she could take it.

Even just watching the screen-only video on Youtube made me feel weird. The video you posted makes it look really rough. I'm almost certain I'll dislike how I'll feel when riding.

I'm still going to give it a shot, but not at RD in case I have a really bad reaction (which is probably unlikely, as I didn't even throw up on Mission Space Orange as bad as it made me feel, and the feeling was only temporary). Got an FP for late morning after I can be done with everything else.

I love Soarin', but after 3 times in a row I can't do it any more. I can handle Mission Space Green, very little nausea. I cannot ride Star Tours any more. We rode it a few years ago and I almost lost it. I can do SDMT, but I'll be a little dizzy after.

FoP made me extremely nauseous. I don't like closing my eyes on rides, that usually makes it worse for me, so I would look away from the screen. That would help. But the worst part for me, there is air and water mist blowing in your face at times. That caused me the most problems. Even looking away didn't stop that. I got off the ride, and the woman next to me asked if I was okay - apparently I didn't look it. The walk exiting the ride helped calm me down a little bit, but I was off for a while. Later that day, I saw a family sitting in Satuli Canteen talking about the ride, and one woman had just returned from being sick in the bathroom. It is very intense, to say the least. I suggest if you are going to try it, to take something(s) ahead of time. Maybe I'll try that sometime. I just get so worried I'll end up sick for a few days afterwards.
