DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

It's called "The ride that pkondz puts his earphones in and listens to ACDC"

That actually makes that ride pretty cool. All those headbanging dolls, rockin' along.

Just trust me on this one. It really works.

I disagree with you on it not being sustainable though. If from the very beginning, the fund had been deposited in a S&P Index fund, it would have had 8+% growth with low fees since the inception of the system. Once a significant number of years had passed, the cash reserves could have been fortified then to sustain the down turns of the market. Instead, those funds were either put in risky hedge fund, allocated through nepotism, or just spent on programs instead of raising taxes to cover said programs. (Or, just not spend the money in the first place.). Now that system has been so poorly mismanaged over 40 years, there is no way to make up for the missing invested money without a new revenue stream to do so.

Agreed. Originally it would have been, just like Social Security, with a few tweaks for extended lifespan and other unforeseen situations. Mismanagement and theft have destroyed both. I would probably have been able to retire by now if they had just let me have my money initially and invest it myself.

Kentucky really needs to close up the tax loopholes as does the federal government. I would be in favor of a flat tax or a VAT rather than this mess we have now.

You're mother -- You are mother was a hamster???
Why does not liking IASW have anything to do with being American?
-- Puzzled in Atlanta

It doesn't. You made a second. I pulled out the French insults from Monty Python.

I like the fact I'm getting hugs and everyone else is getting kicked out.......
Excuse me? Barkeep? Large bucket of popcorn please.

Because you're 007 with a license to kill.

Sure! Like so many other people who were there first... and wound up getting the boot!

Do not mess with our penguins.

Do not attempt to use logic or penguin threats. Both are frightening.

I really don't think this is the spirit of international co-operation that Kids ride in Disney likes to promote...now...what its called....

Alien Encounters (Stitch Ride)? :lmao:

Yes, SS easily fixed as life expectancy changed. Same for Medicare. Most don't realize that in 1965 when the legislation passed, life expectancy was age 67. So, you were eligible 2 years before you died. If those programs had mirrored life expectancy changes over the years, it wouldn't be an issue. Now, how could they move it from 65 to 75 overnight?

I'm not smart enough to be an economist, but read as much as i can. All I can figure out is that it not comparible to a household economy at all. Sadly, there are too many wealthy interests that persist the tax code as it is. Just think, we fought a war over an increase on tax on tea? People don't realize just how much they are paying on taxes since it is automatically deducted from paycheck. If people had to count out the cash each payday, there would be a revolution.

Hey guys. Glad at least some of you are digging out. Stay safe.

Did not have cable the last 3 days. It basically didn't work and I called the service line on Sunday. They said the only thing to do was change the box. MLK on Monday so they were closed, Tuesday and Wednesday couldn't get there so picked a new one up today. Plugged it in and scanned the channels. Nothing was on I wanted to watch so turned it off and listened to a Gator radio station instead. Makes me think I should look for other options for the tube. Won't make a decision until after the Olympics but am open to suggestions.

Have a good evening everyone.

An early morning guys (except Dan where it is probably tea time). It is the Pirate Princess' birthday today. We are going clubbing tonight to celebrate. Well, she is, I'm waiting for my invitation. Today's mail perhaps? If it doesn't arrive in time, we are going out for dinner on Sunday.

Hope everyone has a good Friday.

Morning boys (just) from a Sunny and 0 London. 7 mile run in today, so that blew out the cobwebs. It might be time to invest in some nip covers. I'll be back later to call it.

Good to hear from ya mate. You'll get a text at 11PM telling everyone to meet up. What club are you hoping for? A bit of Southern Hip Hop? Latino? Grime? Happy Birthday to the PP.
Alien Encounters (Stitch Ride)? :lmao:
That'll do :rotfl:
That actually makes that ride pretty cool. All those headbanging dolls, rockin' along.
See, now, I'm going to have to try it. I think QOTSA, "No-one Knows" could go quite well.

Morning all. School out again. Going to work. Hating the cold.

We're coming for you!

Mobilizing. :lmao:

Yeah, cutting cable was difficult and I do miss the sports on it. But, with my chauffeur and work schedule, I wouldn't have much time to get through a whole game. So, I'm going to go without until I retire, and then I'll redo the cable thing for sports. I do enjoy finding games to watch while on vacation.

Good luck with that. Clubbing is still another 5 years out for me, and not sure I would want to be along for that ride. Maybe you'll get to be the designated driver.

I'd let you borrow mine, but they would be too big to fit you. But, they would enhance that photo op with the rhinestone covered budgie smuggler. :scared1::eek::scared1:

Morning All,

Sunny but cool up here in the Great White North. Last day of classes in the first semester for DS, exams start Monday. His team went into a bit of a funk this week, losing twice. They have 3 games left to get it back together before the regional playoffs begin. Looks like it could be an interesting finish.

Do you have your MC Hammer pants ready? Hope the Pirate Princess has a great birthday.

Would you be sporting something like this?

Would you be sporting something like this?
Only if you ask reaaaallll purdy.

Right boys, that's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one in LIV on South Beach with CJ for some heinous fruity concoction has to take Elizabeth Swann home. And let me tell ya, she can handle your sword like a master.

Morning gents, and happy Friday. I have to announce a new addition to my family. No, not that addition - those pipes were cut a while ago. I'm taking the afternoon off work to go to the city humane services and adopt a kitten. Youngest DD has been pestering for a year now to get a dog, I kept refusing. I have nothing against dogs, I like other people's dogs, I just don't want one in the house. I had one when I was a teenager, so I know how much work they are. But all DD's friends have dogs and she desperately wanted one. I finally compromised and agreed to get a cat. Yes, they are still work, but not as much as a dog. DD has been beside herself with excitement all week. I'll have to send along pictures of the little fuzzball later.

Booked Early morning magic for the March trip yesterday, that should throw up some good photos.
Nice one. I've been curious if that's worth the money. You'll have to let us know.

3 weeks from this coming Sunday me and Mrs head to DaWorld for some Disney Institute learnings and some me & DW time enjoying first us only visit including being there on my birthday -
Disney Institute. Sounds good. Enjoy!

Nothing like all these Canadians we have on here. Just don't tell them I said that. :lmao:

Hmmm....interesting. I actually could see that working.

Possibly, but please no pictures Dan. That would likely get us shut down :rotfl2:

Last one in you say......you guys go ahead I will be along in a short while.

It doesn't. You made a second. I pulled out the French insults from Monty Python.
I knew the fart in your general direction was, but didn't realize the rest was.

I didn't realize the life expectancy back then was only 67. I wonder if the wars and loss of life at an early age caused that to be so low. I know we've had many medical improvements over the years, but I also know many of those folks back then lived longer because they didn't have all the preservatives and crap in their diet.

I'm not smart enough to be an economist, but read as much as i can. All I can figure out is that it not comparible to a household economy at all. I've been without cable/satellite for several years. Try getting an HD antenna before-hand to see how many channels you get. Since FL is flat, generally HD antennas work REALLY well. A friend of mine has done several HD antennas for folks and he said it's trial and error...you might do better with one of the cheaper ones or it might take more expensive ones to work...you won't know until you try

This is a truism.

I love penguins, but this has always been one of the funniest gifs to me.

Ditto. All the roads are clear since yesterday, but they canceled school again today. Idiotic!

I can stream a lot of the things....I am more of a baseball (compared to football) person, so I streamed Cubbies mostly all summer/fall. I streamed the Georgia/Alabama game. So, with a good Internet connection, cable/satellite is superfluous to me.

I like both...my dog is laying next to me on the couch snoring right now. Cat's are lower maintenance in that you can go on vacation and as long as they have a clean litter box and food and water, they'll be fine. Dogs are lower maintenance in that you don't have to change a litter box regularly. Pros and cons for both. DW doesn't care for cats (litter box smell), so dogs it is for us.

I LIKE it!

Top O the Mornin Dads! School out again. At work. Hating the cold - heard that somewhere before? Have a good Friday. oh yea, one other item .....

Enjoy the new family member and congrats to youngest DD in getting the new pet!
Disney Institute. Sounds good. Enjoy!
Thanks, did it once before 10 years ago, they do a really good job and it really helped our team that constantly deals with a lot of grey area.

We've had both and I would agree that cats are lower maintenance and much more independent, you just have to deal with the litter box. With dogs on the other hand, it is clean up after them in the yard. This can be a challenge in the winter months and can make for a lovely scent in the spring.

We have a cat and a cat flap. No worries. When we go away, next door come in and feed him once a day, we do the same for them. Lady K would like a dog, but we think they are too much of a tie.

Thanks guys for the birthday wishes, I will pass them on.

Good to hear from ya mate. You'll get a text at 11PM telling everyone to meet up. What club are you hoping for? A bit of Southern Hip Hop? Latino? Grime? Happy Birthday to the PP.

We are just going to club hop down A1A. Funny thing is she hasn't told me when to meet her or where.

If I could do an HD antenna plus get ESPN and the national news networks, I'd be good.

Tell him good luck on the exams. Too bad about the slump, maybe it is time the coach brought you in to give a motivational speech.

Woo Hoo. Party time. I even dragged out my Saturday Night Fever outfit.

I have to announce a new addition to my family.

Not a cat person. Once she moved out and took the dog with her, I'm done with pets for a while. I bet she is excited.
