Official July 2018 Thread!

Excited to be getting closer! We’re still planning on 7/22-8/2. Booked at BCV for 7/24-7/30 and AKV Jambo for 7/30-8/2 via DVC rentals. Waiting for Disney discounts to decide where to stay for the beginning, but thinking POP or Coronado. I’ve still got a little more than a week until ADR date, so I’m trying to get those figured out now.

Just booked a room-only reservation for Art of Animation. I will get my tickets later, and change if something better comes along, but I think my kids will like it. Whoo-hoo! :yay::dogdance: Also got approval to take my vacation from my boss. All I need now is for my husband to get his vacation approved. :worried: Hopefully he will, but if not, Mama really needs a vacation!:rolleyes1

Welcome to everyone I didn't see earlier this week!!! :)

I was looking at flights on Friday in between meetings and it seems like we're adding a night to our trip! It'll be a nice relaxing start to our trip and we'd get some time at Disney Springs too!

I’m happy I was able to book two standard rooms at Pop Century under the summer meal deal promotion and upgraded us to the quick service dining plan (which we’ve had on our past trips). I think we snagged the last two available standard rooms cause all I see available now are pool view and preferred. Since we have to get two rooms I try to get standard rooms to keep the cost reasonable. So excited to stay in the remodeled Pop rooms (queen size beds and coffee makers :cloud9:). Gonna make adrs for Sci Fi, Tusker House, and Be Our Guest and our itinerary will most likely consist of four full park days, one water park/Disney Springs day, and I am looking at a late morning flight so that we can just hang out at the resort and swim, do the night outdoor movie, etc. on our arrival day :sunny:. I’m looking forward to a fun summer trip before football and marching band camps and daily practices start up at the end of July :crazy2:.

ADRs tomorrow morning! :cool1: Alarm is set, spreadsheet is printed out, multiple devices charged, just in case. No one else but Disers would understand!
Totally understand! That was me last Monday. I had 2 laptops going at one time and coordinating with both of my sisters over the phone! Lol! Got everything I wanted though! Worth getting up and being organized!

I totally love the planning part. Once I'm there it is sort of a letdown as there's nothing left to plan! So I just start planning the next trip. While on the current trip. I *might* have a problem :rolleyes1
I think I have the same problem! When I get home, I am in a funk until I have the next trip booked and can start planning again. I actually carry around my Disney planning notebook in my work bag...just in case I have a few minutes of down time! I can pull out my notebook and go to my Disney happy place...lol!

OMG!!! I do the same. I think I have a problem. Lol
I love the planning and can't wait to plan for the next vacation. I'm an addict

ADRs made! I was able to easily get everything we wanted! Sci-Fi, HDDR, Ohana breakfast, and BOG. Everything is new for us except BOG. I have both a lunch and dinner there and will only keep 1. We've done lunch but not dinner. It's too bad there is no PPO times popping up anymore for BOG. We really enjoyed our breakfasts there.

ETA: AAAAnnnnnndd I went back and added in BOG breakfast, too. Sure, it's wasting park time, but we really enjoy the food and atmosphere.

ADRs made! Booked Sci Fi lunch, Be Our Guest QS lunch, and Tusker House breakast like I originally planned and threw in ADRs for Beaches & Cream, Chef Mickey’s breakfast (our Disney trip tradition), and T Rex dinner. I decided to snag the Beaches & Cream ADR for the late afternoon of our arrival day since it will be my birthday and we will have a very early morning flight. So unless there is an unforeseen day-long delay, we will be festive and enjoy a kitchen sink at Beaches & Cream to celebrate my birthday before walking over to Epcot for the evening. I haven’t stayed for Illuminations since our 2011 trip so that is a birthday must do! :cake: :sunny:

Okay, as long as we are sharing our "problems," ...... I also totally enjoy the planning process and write things in a notebook. I actually buy a nice new notebook each year and use my favorite pen. :rolleyes1

I currently have a Walt Disney world journal and I usually use one of the Disney resort pens from the resort rooms! Lol!

I teach and each year I buy an Erin Condren lesson planner that I personalize with our Disney pics. So everyAugust when I’m depressed about how long it is until my next disney trip I get a big box in the mail with a beautiful planner covered with our Disney pics.

That is a great idea!

So I have been taking notes in my fancy notebook all morning :-). I am looking for something "extra special" to do on our July trip that won't break the bank! We have already done BBB, the dessert party at MK, and Wonderland Tea Party. I have found a few ideas: Pirate Adventure cruise from BC/YC, Caring for Giants tour (AK), Behind the Seeds tour (EP), Sandcastle Club (BC), Shipshape Salon (Character Couture Packages), and I would love to do Wild Africa Trek at AK, but it is pricey! Do any of you have an experience with these or have any other recommendations? My daughters will be 8 and 10 on this trip.

How about a water park day? I think the mermaid makeovers at the Pirates League in MK would also be nice for your daughters' ages.
