Christmas decorations tour

I'm planning a December 2018 trip and definitely will be visiting Fort Wilderness one evening to see all the decorations (may combine it with a dinner at Trail's End, but that is TBD). It will be a solo trip.

Are the loops walkable? Or should I try to rent a golf cart for a couple hours?

Thanks for your advice!

A wagon ride as an option?

I considered that, but I'd like to stop occasionally to really look at the decorations and take photos. My friends who've done the wagon/sleigh ride say it is moving so it's harder to take nighttime photos. It's also $25 cheaper to rent a golf cart for a full day (though I would return after 1-2 hours) than do the sleigh ride!

The loops are definitely walkable, depending on how long you want to visit. When we stay there I will go looping by myself, and I can easily hit about 10 loops in an 1 1/2 hrs. and that is taking my time to look at decorations, campers and stopping to talk.

The wagon rides are $8 for 45 min. You could also take the bus and get off at the loops you'd like to see and just walk around them, then taking all the time at each site that you'd like - certainly walkable.

Lesley. If you eat at Trails End, many of the loops near it are well decorated (100, 700, 400, 500). Year in year out, 1600 near the higher site numbers (1630s, 1640s) have big decorations worth getting over to see. 1200 and 1300 are noteworthy. It's just wherever you are and how much time you have to spend.

Ok, cool. I will plan to just wander around then! I will be staying at Wilderness Lodge, so I figure on an MVMCP evening when I'm not attending, I will do a relaxing "wilderness" night, with the boat and wandering FW, as well as relaxing in WL lobby!

Two of the guests in the 100 loop that had the most decorations pulled out last week while we were there. The one along the walkway from l00 to Settlement area was one of them - had a huge stack of Rubbermaid containers full of deflated characters, cords, etc. I counted 10 near the front with some in the back - boy, what a job!!

That site was completely bare when we left - it had been crammed with inflatables/lights all along the walkway and completely behind the site - the guests that came in did not put up decorations - the opposite side had a few. The trail was pretty dark!

Guests come and go, of course, but there wasn't very many lights in the first few loops when we left.
