They do a good job in most cases, mostly it depends on when you arrive. I think we've entered at a fairly busy time (10AM-ish) and even with a good size crowd we were through there in 7-8 minutes.

Oh that is great to hear, the lines were pretty long when we went in August 2016.

It's usually always about 20 seconds-6 min. It might feel like longer but it goes by quick. Over the years I don't think I've ever waited more than a couple minutes for the security lines

During our trip in August MK, Epcot, and MGM were no problem, however AK was extremely slow. Like 15 minutes or more, it was quite frustrating.

We had really quick lines for most of our trip. Except this one time. I saw the guy at one line was super slow, so I got into a line beside him. And he got moved to my line right as the man in front of me got to the table. I had no where I could go because I was at the back of the table with people all around me.

The guy was as slow as Flash in Zootopia. I even told him I would zip my backpack up to help him out when I got there. I was extra nice to him. He was doing his job and doing it the best he could. But it was honestly so long my husband was getting worried something happened. He took our daughter and stroller through the bagless line.
But end the end it was less than 10 minutes and a blip on the day.

Does anyone else find it a little odd that there is all kinds of security at the theme parks but nothing at the water parks? You can carry a bunch of stuff into the water parks and nothing is checked
