I lost it when @roxyhubby said "why aren't they wearing hats" as the gang all walked out of the wall tunnel. Like...maybe it's gonna be cold? Maybe wear a hat? I was also thinking like....how about Dany just flies Jon on Drogon "a whole new world" style over the wall and he can point and say "see!" and then she'd be like "woah, you are right" and then the dragon can just act like a giant claw machine and pick up a wight and just like drop it into kings landing. Or maybe just like burn the white walkers since you're already there???

And yes, I totally caught the Gilly thing and I am so excited that maybe they brought that book with them and there will be real tangible, non-creepy-bran proof that what creepy bran says is the truth.

Also, Jon Snow wears cologne that dragons like...confirmed!

To answer your question about Jamie and Cercei...what if she dies in child birth. Like not even in battle. So technically the prophecy would be correct about Jaime "killing Cercei" just not in the manner we would have all anticipated?? Or it could be fake.

And did you notice how Gendry said "our father's were friends" and I was thinking "well actually your father killed his real father...sooooo...."
 
I didn't even think about the whole "your father killed his real father" thing. I get myself so confused. And, not sure about the whole thing of Jon and Dany. She's his aunt. Now I get that GoT obviously doesn't worry much about the incestuous ick factor, but still...ick. And, yes, it would make total sense to fly Drogon over to just burn up the White Walkers, but that's not much fun is it? ;)

I was also soooooo annoyed over the whole Littlefinger pulling a fast one on Arya. Really? She's this trained spy/assassin that can kill anyone, but she totally misses Littlefinger skulking in the corner while he is apparently totally aware of where she is? Come on! She knows how horrible it was for Sansa with Joffrey and how terrible Cersei is, don't you think she might question a note that Sansa would have written during that time? And after everything they've all been through she's still hung up on the fact that Sansa "wants nice things". Seriously? I mean, I realize that Arya really has no idea what Sansa has been through and vice versa, but geez, don't you think you'd give each other the benefit of the doubt?

Creepy Bran really is creepy isn't he? *shudder*

OMG what if Littlefinger is a faceless man from Braavos? But yeah, I'm ready for him to be dead now. Maybe Arya's wolf can eat him?

Don't even! I am a teacher who starts classes again on Sept 5th, it is coming waaaay too soon. I also have a half on Sept 17th that I was really hoping to PR, but just don't feel ready.

Hubby has read the whole thing and been watching from the beginning... I've caught episodes here and there, and boy, am I always confused. I tried to start at the beginning more recently, but I only got thru the first season (while we were also watching season 6 which made it even more confusing). So now, we pretty much sit and pause every 5 minutes so he can explain who the heck these ppl are. It's not ideal, I admit. But I'm starting to understand and piece it together, and this season has me excited to find out what happens next despite my confusion. One of these days, I'll catch up and watch the rest of the seasons in order. But I am drawn in for more, bc Jon Snow is a dreamboat. :love:
 
Nice Star Wars pancakes! (I had a Mickey Mouse waffle for breakfast this morning ... but I made that one myself (and by that I mean my sister made it and I "supervised")).

I love that you're getting the kiddo into women's sports! Do you guys have any interest in WNBA? (Does Chicago still have a team? I never remember which teams are still around). That's my big women's sport thing (well, that and gymnastics). I've been going to at least one game a season almost every year since they started the WNBA. I was a basketball-obsessed kid, and a women's basketball league was basically the greatest thing that could have ever happened to me. Anyway, back on topic ... I love the kiddo in her Red Stars shirt, and your 5K shirt is actually kinda perfect too!

Sounds like a decently nice week ahead of you ... especially that well-earned rest day today!

Side note - am I the only person who doesn't watch Game of Thrones?

I always pause!! I've tried the auto pause function but get frustrated with it - keeps going for a bit after I stop, then takes a bit to get going when I start. I'm happy pressing the buttons myself. On runs I'm not enjoying I have been known to play the lights a bit just to get a break...

The Haka is indeed what the All Blacks do - Ka Mate is the classic but they have another version they use from time to time which isn't as good as the original! And great memory with the hongi - for those not familiar with Maori (indigenous people of NZ) greetings a hongi is a formal greeting between people where the nose and forehead touches. Must have been pretty cool and very unusual for you!

That almost flippant comment by Gilly blew my mind! I was like wait, what? Did she? Is he? HE IS THE REAL DEAL! I liked there was quite a degree of geekiness required to know what she was saying, as at no point have they ever actually said the R+L=J, it's still based on the vision by Bran. Plus Jon can pat a dragon like a puppy also suggests his blood is significantly Targeryan (I think like Tyrion's too - remember when he unshacked a couple of the dragons?). Mrs McN completely missed the importance of Gilly's comment...

So looking forward to the next two episodes, I haven't seen or heard any of the leaked info and hoping to keep it that way, it is such a treat watching the show at the moment and watching the story unfold. But then we need to wait a whole year more:(

I am super disappointed that they didn't taste good. Eggo pancakes are 'meh' but I haven't had pancakes in quite a while so now thy sound amazing.

I would prefer Jaime kill Cersei because it would mean he finally mans up and breaks free from her manipulation but I doubt he will.

On a tempo run or when I'm just feeling really solid I will often do the "Keep running down the corner" and come back to avoid stopping. But on long runs or easy runs I often just stop and wait for the light. And I hit pause if I'm gonna be standing there for over a minute (chicago lights can take forever) but don't hit pause if I know it'll only add a few seconds onto my time. I turned off autopause for my half marathon because of character stops and then just never turned it back on.

At least that's better than me womansplaining the plot to my husband mid-episode when he has read all the books and doesn't need me breaking things down for him. I can't help it, I get excited.
Also Jon Snow is 100% a dreamboat! He NEVER smiles though...like I get why...but not sure I could live with all that brooding. Maybe the show will end with him actually smiling (probably not because we can't have nice things.) My #1 pairing is Brienne and Tormund...unrequited love...I'm rooting for the big man.

Ok, I'm glad I didn't butcher the words or uses badly. It was a very cool experience. Is the ending of Moana a hongi (spoiler alert for those who haven't watched moana)?

Re GOT: I'm avoiding spoilers like the plague. It's just too much fun not knowing what will happen next. though part of me just wants to know who makes it out alive next episode so I don't have a panic attack mid-show next week...but I'm still avoiding it.
Re Tyrion: I read a fan theory alluding to what you are getting at and that would be pretty cool.

I've wondered if the Hound will kill Cercei when up against the Mountain (if they bring a wight back to Kings Landing. The prophecy did say the "younger brother" will kill Cercei. Maybe it's not Tyrion or Jamie...maybe it's the Hound...he is the Mountain's younger brother??? I love tin-foil hat guesses.

Ok, I'll stop with my GOT stuff now (maybe)
Tonight I run 4 miles easy. Which sounds just fine by me. I literally have every piece of workout clothes clean right now and re-organized in my closet this weekend. I've gone beyond my one hanging bar for tech shirts and moved into an addition shelf for them in my closet. They are taken over.

My blister seems to be all dried up too (TMI) so I'm all set :) Happy Tuesday to me!

The "we can't have nice things" remark made me LOL.

And, I so agree about Brienne and Tormund. Loved it when he asked Jon about the "big woman".

We also don't watch. I was listening to a podcast about the Nats the other day and fully a third of the podcast was dedicated to GoT and I was SO CONFUSED.

I also love that you took roxykiddo to a women's soccer game and that she loved it.

And, I know what you mean about the last page of the training plan... next week is my last week before tapering ahead of my race on 9/10... and yeeeeesh it looks like a tough week. You'll rock yours, though!
 
Story time!

So a few weeks back I was reading a @CheapRunnerMike race recap and he was wearing a quite fetching bike shirt. I thought.." hey, that would look lovely on @roxyhubby" so I got the details and ordered the shirt.
Fast forward and got a note that the men's style was sold out. So they offered me a refund, womp womp. Before I sent the email response I showed my hubby and he said it was a really cool shirt and told me to see if they had my size.
Me: I don't even have my own bike. I'd be a poser.
Hubby: so then you'll have to get one
Me: but then I'll have to do a sprint tri next year
Hubby: you will do a sprint tri next year
And that's the story of how this shirt has now turned into officially adding the Naperville Sprint Tri to my calendar for August 2018. Until then I'll just be a literal poser.
