hello! My hubby and I are going to universal for our 40th bdays with no kids. Which hotel should we stay at and why?? Thanks!!

stay at one of the 3 deluxe hotels

look at the hotel stickies and you'll gain info on why they are popular for a couple.

celebrating your birthdays will be great!
get room service, or eat at the onsite restaurants

my favorite hotel is rpr.
Tchoup chop, Islands dining room, Jakes are sit down restaurants onsite.
Orchids court lounge is a quick breakfast area of basic foods

the other two deluxe hotels are also gems with great onsite dining

Yep go for one of the deluxes........

Have a look at the stickies and see the pictures of the hotels........choose the theme that appeals most to you.

They all have great restaurants.

The HRH is my least favourite hotel of the deluxes, but has The Palm which is my favourite onsite restaurant. Very nice for a special occasion. I'm having my 50th Birthday dinner there this year.

If I did not have the kids in tow, I would be at Portofino. The Italian vibe is romantic. The second pool is wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The restaurants are tasty. And if you want excitement, well, there are two theme parks close by.

I like RPR as my very close second choice for your chill trip.

the reason i won't go back to pbh is the food.
i have a mushroom allergy and when i went to mama della, they had nothing really for me.
their sauce is already made up that they get and has mushrooms in it.
they told me they do not have red sauce without it.

most italian food is out for me.

i like to stay at a hotel that has many options for food instead of eating my main full meals at city walk each vacation there.
i'm there for two weeks so many of times i eat at the hotels.

pbh is a gorgeous place with fabulous pools.
but not the food for me.

I had the same issue.

Told me they couldn't do the sauce without garlic as it was already made up.......that was in Bice too.

Not a fan........

Now Sal's, although it's a cheap and cheerful pizza place.......its definitely worth visiting.........

Thanks for all you replies!! Which hotel is closest to all the attractions and city walk?

HRH is closest to Studios, RPR is closest to IOA........PB is slightly further but very walkable.

None of them are very far at all.

Have a look at Google Maps and check it out.

Schumigirl is right, they are all close by. If you only have WDW to compare to, you won't understand until you get there. You can walk from the hotels to the theme parks. That's a very different bubble than WDW. There is also a great map as part of the Universal App. Have fun!

I'm going for my 50th birthday and will be staying at RPR. I've never stayed on Universal property before.

I've stayed at all 3 of the onsite Deluxe hotels at Universal; each one has it's own vibe. PBH is quiet and romantic, HRH is more lively and noisy with more going on, and RPR is halfway in between the two. Have a great time!
