Things to do in Orlando or Florida

Take a look at Tradewinds Resort on St Pete Beach. Many families love to stay there as it is very family friendly.

We're first-time visitors going in October, but plan to spend some "non-park" days. Here's what we have planned: Discovery Cove (arguably a park, but it gets us into Sea World and Aquatica later. Sounds like great down time between busy theme parks.), Kennedy Space Center (DH's father worked as an engineer from Mercury through Apollo 11), Tampa for the aquarium, considering going north to swim with manatees. Also planning on visiting the Singing Tower gardens. Probably will see an evening show at Capones. There's also the huge ferris wheel in an area that also has Madame Toussad's and a skeleton museum and a few other things.

That area with the wheel and wax museum and so forth is a lot of fun. Lots to do there. There is a really cool bowling ally, fun area. Especially at night.

Ooh, now I had been looking at that, but everywhere I looked said they were long gone by October - where have you seen that still has them around then? Exciting!

We'll be there the last part of October, so hope to catch them up in Crystal Springs/Homosassa/Three Rivers Sanctuary as they wander back for the winter. It's still a drive, so haven't 100% decided on it. The sanctuary has underwater observation areas, so it would be an inexpensive (though time-consuming) way to see wildlife without risking the expenditure. If we go there during winter, we'll definitely do it!

Has anyone been to Discovery Cove? We are heading to Orlando in Florida and are looking in to that. Thanks!

There's a Sea World/Discovery Cove forum. Everyone I've talked to loves it. DH, DD and me are going there this October.
