Bandage on towel!!

So even if they don't do their job properly your suppose to just give them the tip because RCL chooses not to pay them a wage equal to the work they do? I would never tell someone not to tip but if there is a problem with the service you should feel empowered to adjust the tip to a level you see fit and sorry to most of us a bandaid on a new towel would be a failure to provide adequate service.

I highly doubt you were tipping the laundry person that folds and stacks the towels. So lower their tip from zilch to zilch.

It'll just have to be a difference of opinions then. It is the room stewards job to make sure that the linens and towels they use are indeed clean when they put them in a room. I worked as a housekeeper at a resort for a bit my first summer of college. I can guarantee you if I put dirty towels in someone's room and they complained I would not have been able to use the excuse that it was the laundry facilities fault and would have gotten a demerit.

So you had to take your own luggage to the airport. Couldn't your spouse put the kids to bed alone?

And as everyone else has said, it was sterile.

You weren't exposed to anything dangerous and you weren't even really inconvenienced. Luggage valet is an extra service to begin with. I just honestly don't see what you were expecting here. Neither event would qualify for money back on the cruise you were on, and I seriously don't think DCL, or any cruise line, would act any differently.

The cabin steward- I think you did kind of screw him but on the other hand, if he was the one responsible for putting towels in your cabin, the tip deduction was deserved.

Wow... I am an OCD female but I can tell you.. I would have been briefly grossed out that's it.
I think Royal offered you MORE than enough. It could happen on DCL too and I doubt you'd get more from them.
It sounds like you just didn't like the cruise you were on, and were hoping to get a refund for it.
That's not fair in my opinion, considering what happened.

Far worse as happened to us on Royal. There was NEVER any type of compensation. We are diamond members but are at the point of not doing another cruise with them. If we can't afford to do Disney or maybe Princess we just choose not to cruise again. We had far too many issues with Royal for which they just blew us off that we figure our vacation dollars are better spent elsewhere. That said, a bandaid on a towel would not push us to have the stateroom attendant punished. Our experience for the vast majority of our trips is that the stewards have been exceptional.

Do you really expect the room steward to unfold every towel delivered by housekeeping to make sure everything is fine? Do you expect him or her to crawl around the room on their hands and knees to make sure there isn't a crumb to be found? You've already said that despite shaking the towel, the band-aid stayed stuck and so this would have been easily missed if the towels were unfolded or unhung and then inspected. I would have shown it to the room steward and asked for a new towel, period. The fact that you got a reduction of your gratuities and a big discount on a future cruise and are still not happy with how the cruise line tried to rectify the situation is IMHO that you are expecting too much.

I think RCI compensated you plenty for your issues.

Regarding the bandaid... I think it was just human error, and while unfortunate, it wouldn't bother me too much (I'd say something to the stateroom attendant, but that's as far as I'd take it).
As far as the luggage tags, if you got "lost in the system" somewhere, they probably didn't realize it which is why you didn't get any tags. To me, this is another minor inconvenience.

It sounds like you'd enjoy yourself on DCL.

Do you bring your own sheets and towels when you travel? If you don't, then every towel and sheet has been exposed to someone else's body fluids at some point before you've used them. And then gets bleached and then dried at super high temps. Just like the band-aid did. I think Royal went above and beyond, honestly.

...Anyways, I want to know what do you think can be done here? We already dealt with Guest Services on the ship, and was given reduced gratuities and a 30% off the price of this cruise amount for our NEXT RCL cruise. But honestly, after experiencing RCL, I kind of want to stick with DCL, at least for now until my kids are still kids. They also said that the 30% needs to be used within a year or 2. I need to double check.

They made it seem like nothing can be done to compensate for that band-aid incident for the current cruise price. I would like to get your opinion. (Looks like the video is too large to upload). Thanks in advance!

What can be done has already been done - they've offered you an appeasement as a gesture towards customer satisfaction. You have suffered absolutely NO quantifiable loss and IMO, you were fortunate they offered anything because your video does nothing to prove you didn't put the bandaid there yourself. As you have continued to "up the ante" with your other areas of dissatisfaction with your cruise, it's clear you feel you are entitled to something more than what was offered. What are you planning to do - sue RCCL? Good luck.

It was our last morning on the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas. As my wife finished drying her face on a towel, she flipped the towel over and noticed a Band-Aid!!! I took pictures and a video of it. We brought the issue up with our stateroom host, and he said that it should have been cleaned from laundry. We looked at the bandage and it was still stuck because of the strong adhesive. He said "It is my fault, I should have double checked. My boss would kill me if he found out".

I think what they offered was fair. Luckily I noticed before I used it but I had a "clean" towel on DCL that had poop on it! I got nothing from them.

Let's hope the steward wasn't truly "killed", perhaps just lashed to the mast instead?

100% that had to be gross to find. Band-Aid could've been left behind on towel rack by prior guest and 'stuck' to the towel. I do not see it adhering thru a commercial laundry process.

Tongue-in-cheek will ask if you had trip insurance JK only asking as we had an bad experience a decade ago on another cruiseline but regarding a ship booked excursion. I was offered 10% off a future cruise which i did use. Was able to recap cost of pricey excursion thru the insurers.

You travel enough, you will find issues. As for DCL, let's just say i was on the first Fantasy sailing after the drydock and leave it there. It will be awhile before i book the line in the future as I wasn't satisfied with their response to my lack-luster experience.

And therein lies the rub, after stating your case (have you contacted corporate btw?) you chalk it up to it is what is and move on. Happy sailing.
