Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

With a Standard room booked you will definitely not be in Trinidad South. :thumbsup2

Unless they "upgrade" you to a Pirate room. Though didn't someone say they are making a little CS place in the TS area?

I think that the connecting room option is my number one option....so maybe I will call and make that as my priority? I just don't want to be in Trinidad South!

If connecting is the most important, like I said, I'd make that my ONLY request. As @dansdad said, a standard room will not put you in TS unless for whatever reason they decide to "upgrade" you. IF that happens, they may be able to "downgrade" you - but you might sacrifice the connecting rooms if you have to do that. In that case (probably rare, but it could happen) you would have to decide if connecting was more important than location.

True. But they have not offered that specific "upgrade" since the last room refurb. It was happening during the tefurb because entire buildings of non Pirate Themed rooms were taken out of inventory.

Gotcha! I forgot that was happening the last time I was there when they "upgraded" me. Ordinarily I wouldn't have complained, but it was Marathon Weekend and I was doing Goofy, so the last thing I wanted to deal with was hitting my foot or leg on the ship!

Given that I've booked a King room for August, I should be spared that particular "upgrade" in any case since they don't have Pirate rooms with Kings. Probably because that would potentially have led to...something they want to avoid if you know what I mean. LOL!

I liked Jamaica 46. We were close to Old Port Royale (and there is a playground, so works nicely for our DD) and the bus stop.
The room I stayed had a connecting door to the corner room.
Any suggestions from CBR vets as to the building the most conveniently located close to food court and bus stops (whether main building or other)? We are in a WATER VIEW room (May 9-18). I keep hearing about Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51, but in looking at the resort map Jamaica 44 or Aruba 52 don't look too bad either (although Aruba building look to be father from the bus stop than the Jamaica rooms).

We were in Trinidad North, building 31 (I know I've said before I was in 32 or 33, but I just double checked), and it was a quick walk to Port Royale. The "water view" was questionable, but water view could also be of the quiet pools, and doesn't really matter to us since we don't leave the curtains open.

We stayed in Jamaica 46 and Aruba 52. The Jamaica building was pretty much the perfect distance from everything. 6 minute walk over the bridge to food court and pool and under 2 minutes to the beach, bus stop or quiet pool/laundry. Aruba 52 was about the same walk to OPR, but was pretty much in the middle of the Jamaica and Aruba bus stops so it felt about as far as you can get from a stop. Not bad unless you forget something in the room and have to run back.

If I want to brew my own coffee in my room, without having to buy it at the food court, what sort of filters, or packets, or pods does the in-room coffee maker accept ?

I think Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 is little further in terms of bus stop. But it also really depends on where the room is located.
Jamaica 46 was actually my first choice for it being so close to the bus stop. We got dropped off at Jamaica bus stop and like 2 minute walk, we are in our room. So that was very convenient. And to go to the food court, we had to pass Jamaica 45, but wasn't far at all.
Jamaica 44 is also close to the bus stop and Old Port Royale.

Is there much of a difference in walking distance between buildings 22 and 24? Trying to figure out room request. Would like to be in Martinique pool view 1st floor away from DSA but that is 4 requests. I have a water/pool view reservation, so does Martinique, first floor, away from DSA already cover the possibility of pool view because of booking category?

Thanks!

Pool view isn't a category, the category is water view which means you could be facing a pool or the lake, and yes, the DSA could be near that. Our last room at CBR was a water view that faced the lake, but also overlooked the DSA. We were on the second floor.

If we are a party of 4, what are the odds of getting a Murphy Bed in a "standard" room, preferably in Jamaica 45/46 or Aruba 51? We were originally looking at staying at Pop, but my kids don't sleep well in a bed together, so an option that gives us an extra bed is very attractive. We are planning to take a red-eye flight on a Friday night (arriving Saturday morning) and leaving the following Sunday. Strangely, if we add the Friday night to our reservation on Orbitz, the total cost is actually less than for Saturday to Sunday (and only $150 more than Pop for a Friday-Sunday stay), but only if we book the "standard" category, which Orbitz defines as
"Standard View
300 square feet
1 king bed or 2 full beds
Room sleeps 4 guests(up to 3 children)"

Orbitz only shows a room occupancy of 5 for the "preferred" rooms, but I know there are standard rooms with Murphy beds.

There are a quite a few of them throughout the resort, but it ultimately depends on how many families of 5 are booked. If you absolutely must have a room with a murphy bed you might consider booking a preferred room at POR as they all have them. At CBR if you don't have five it's just a request. You may have a good chance if you make it your only request, but requests can be hit or miss. I requested just a village last time and wasn't put anywhere near it, but they did move me closer to it when I asked at check-in.

Unfortunately, a preferred room at POR would be more than $100 more per night than the standard room at CBR for the dates we're looking at. My plan for Pop was to bring an air mattress and put the most uncooperative kid on the floor if they couldn't get along. I can also do that at CBR and there would be more floor space for it, it's just a matter of whether I still want to pay the price premium if it's unlikely that we'll get the murphy bed. I think we probably still do -- my kids are 6 and 8 and I think they'd really enjoy the pool area and my husband and I will enjoy having the queen beds and overall more space for an 8-night stay.

I'm currently in Trinidad South, very nice pirate room facing the water. I wasn't overly concerned with the distance from main bldgs since we had a car. Well, dh had to fly home early, so he took the car back to MCO. I'm taking DME...no big deal. But, I now have to get from one end of the resort to the DME area!! I really can't imagine I'm going to like walking it, with my carry-on bags!
Do I have any options? Can you take luggage on the internal bus?

When you get your paperwork for DME you will, if I remember correctly, have to call Bell Services to arrange a time, and when they come for your luggage they will pick you up as well, and drive you to Customs House.

Edit: They will definitely pick you up, I just don't remember if you have to call and pre-arrange it, or if the paperwork tells you what time BS is coming to get you.

Bell service will come and take both you and your bags to the Custom House. :)

Just booked 2 days in September for our 20th anniversary before we leave for a cruise. So excited to be heading back to CBR!! First time without the kids! Have a king room. To make a request or just see what happens??
