Hello, everyone -- my husband and I are taking our then 8 year old daughter and then 5 year old son to Disney during their spring break from 4/5-4/10. We are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter and got the basic dining plan. We are planning to spend the days in the parks and have a combination of sit down and quick service meals there. We expect they will be wiped our by the evenings so plan to head back to the hotel in the afternoon and have dinners at places easily accessibly from Port Orleans. What are your favorite dining plan places to eat that are near Port Orleans for kids their age (a combo of sit down and quick service dinners)? Thank you so much for your you suggestions!!!!!! :surfweb:

The only place easily accessible would be the food court or Boatwright's at POR. Just a few minutes walk on the walking path. Anything else would require either the boat to DTD or buses ( or driving) to another resort.

Unfortunately there are no TS restaurants at POFQ. They do have a food court, but that's about it. There is Boatwright's which is at Port Orleans Riverside next door, and you can walk to it, although I've heard it takes 10-15 minutes. The reviews I've seen have been decent, but it doesn't have the whimsical theming you would see in some Disney restaurants. Another option is to take the boat to Downtown Disney and eat there. T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe are great options for kids, and there are a number of very good quick service spots as well. The boat ride is not that short- takes about 20 minutes- but it is at least direct. They may also have a bus to DD, but I'm honestly not sure. If you were to go to any other resorts (which aren't that close), you would have to take at least 2 forms of transportation.

POFQ for several trips now. We have a couple of meals in the Sassagoula Float Works dining area. There are several stations to choose from including a design your won salad.

Port Orleans Riverside has Boatwrights. It has been a few trips since we ate there but it worked for us. The food court there has create your own pasta. You can ride the boat between the resorts or take a short stroll.

The boat also heads to DTD. Raglan Road is an Irish pub with good food. Rain Forest and T-Rex are geared towards kids.

If you have a car, look at the menu at Olivia's in Old Key West. It's easier to drive than to use Disney transportation.

Another option in the MK area is to eat at one of the monorail resorts - Grand Floridian Cafe, Kona Cafe, the Wave. Just head back to the MK to catch the bus to POFQ.

Boatwrights is excellent also fun for kids a nice boat ride away would be trex planet hollywood or rainforest cafe. Enjoy!

These are all amazing suggestions! I am so grateful for your help! It seems a few if the DTD restaurants do not accept the basic dining plan for dinner (like T. Rex and rainforest). Am I interpreting that correctly? It looks like Planet Hollywood does. Also, someone suggested seeing Yeehaw Bob (sp?) at Port Orleans Riverside. Anyone know if that's worth seeing and if so, the best time to arrive to guarantee seats? Thank you so much!!!!

I don't think the dining plan list is complete yet for next year. It always seems like a bunch of places are always added at the last minute. Both T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe will likely be added- they have always been on the plan in the past.

The boat to DTD - Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express. WPE is actually the best "bang for your buck" value for the dining plan (CS credit). But we LOVE EoS. It's an excellent non-DP value. You can easily eat at EoS for $10/person or less. Sandwiches are 5.99 and very filling and very yummy.

Definitely make a point to see Bob @ POR! What a great family show! He is on Wed-Sat nights, beginning around 7 or 8, I believe. Lots of fun!

every year for locations that Disney does not own. I would be shocked if either was not on the DDP list for 2015.

For RFC and T-Rex, you will have better luck getting reservations by calling the restaurants directly. For the last few years Disney has been booking slots for these restaurants but it appears that they only get a small cut of the available times.

I went to Planet Hollywood in New York shortly after it opened and to one in Key West a little after that. Neither was a good experience for us and PH does not generally get good reviews on these boards.

You will be pretty close to Fort WIlderness...Trails End is an awesome buffet

Except the OP was looking for easily accessible places from POFQ. To get to to Trails End they'd have to take a bus to MK, then the bus to FW and then walk to Trails End.
