What should they do with Pleasure Island?

Since Emeril already has two places at Universal, he likely wouldn't expand any further. I could see a few of the others though. What about doing something with Gordon Ramsey? He's certainly popular enough. Or maybe some of the other TV chefs?

Call me crazy but I don't think the familly image Disney is going for really goes well with "H*!@'s Kitchen" .

I vote for a REALLY big Hooters restaurant! Then the dad's wouldn't care if the wives were out spending a bunch of money shopping in DTD. :rotfl2:

Bring back the Comedy Club and the Adventure Club. They should have never closed them in the first place. Right now Pleasure Island is nothing but a DEAD HORSE.

DITTO

TWO GREAT CLUBS!
TWO GREAT CLUBS MISSED VERY MUCH!

I'd like a movie theatre with showings of old Disney classics:
*The Apple Dumpling Gang
*Herbie
*That Darn Cat
*The Parent Trap
*The Swiss Family Robinson
*all the stuff they had on SUNDAY evening Wonderful World Of Disney

And for the price of a movie from the 60's/70/s LOL:lmao:
I realize in this day with DVD's it wouldn't be very popular but a showing on a big screen would be so Nostalgic!!!

i GUESS MY ONLY comment is ..its a family vacation..enjoy it as a family if you want to drink and dance do it at home..get a sitter and go out..I would never leave the kids with anyone else during our FAMILY vacation. SO glad Pleasure ISland is gone..put more restaurants there.. or bring back adventurers club..definitely agree with that..

Thanks for your input -- my family members are all over 18. We all would LOVE to have the Adventurer's Club to spend the evening in, would be willing to pay a cover charge to experience it, and would also like some food options (buffet? heavy bar snacks?) available to enjoy while we enjoy the shows. Comedy Warehouse was also a great venue -- WDW killed the two best adult entertainment options they had on property. It's a shame that with all that creativity on their staff they couldn't create a way to keep those two experiences alive.

As others have said, They applied or took out a permit to raze/tear down the AC. I never got to go in there, which is a bummer. I hope it is something cool that they put there and not more junky stores and mediocre food spots.

I totally agree with the bolded part. Let's go halfway across the country to dump the kid with a sitter and go drinking. Not my kind of vacation.

I really hope they don't bring back the clubby atmosphere. More dining and family entertainment, please!

I don't understand the entire decision behind closing PI. If it was about adults and debauchery and non-family oriented activities, then why are there TWO (2) Cigar shops and plenty of alcohol around DTD? Jus' sayin' cigars and booze, you know... just set up Jessica Rabbit's House of Drawing Badly and we're all set. :rolleyes1

As for the Boardwalk... the hotels are there and people are trying to sleep. Why they put the until 2am stuff there I don't know. I think even the bars and restaurants over at that den of sin "The Dolphin" close earlier than that. Every time I stumble out of there I'm trying to walk a straight line, hoping the windows are sound proof, because I have to whisper since I'm deaf from the loud music and AM SPEAKING MUCH LOUDER THAN I THINK I AM. WHAT?? I COULDN'T HEAR YOU. YES, YES THAT WAS EFFIN AWESOME.

I never did make it to The Adventurer's Club but I wish I had.

I would like to see some form of family dinner show. Like Medieval Times but with a Disney theme (such as how the Disney live shows or disney on ice are) but I have a 2 year old that I would not leave with anyone but family because of medical reasons so an adult only thing won't do me any good for a long time!

They will most likely turn it into yet another store-and-restaurant thing. If we're lucky there'll be a character meal in there.

Personally I'm not into the "club" scene so I don't miss PI, but I can imagine a couple with young children would enjoy a night out away from the cuddly and furry. After all, it's the parents' vacation too.

What should they do? Re-open the Adventurer's Club and the Comedy Warehouse exactly as they were, on a cover charge or X-drink minimum basis, the rest of it be damned.

What will they do? Sell us more overpriced merchandise plastered with their own trademarked characters and logos and open more second rate, overpriced restaurants.

ITA! I am SO TIRED of the "everything has to be family friendly" attitude. what about all the adults?
but, that being said, these 2 venues WERE "family friendly"!
when we brought our sons (now adults) in the 90's these were the 2 clubs we brought them to. they loved it! (they were pre-teen/teens.) we were able to enjoy the "streetsmophere" with them. hubby and I got a drink as we strolled around. then we did a show at the comedy club adn stopped in at ADVenturer's club for an hour or so.

but.. for those sans kids (us now) it's nice to have a place to get away from the "everything is about the kids" atmosphere.

Jelly rolls is great. we like Kimonos, but once we stopped in to sing after illuminations. it was AFTER 10pm, and ther were at least 10 "tween" girls singing and waiting to sing.
taking up tons of spce sitting cross legged on the floor.
this is a night club!! time for children to be in bed, of at least not at a club!

that's YOUR opinion. some people go as groups of adults. and what is your defintion fo a "family"? my husband and I go 2 times a year. are we not a family? we are in our fifties. empty nesters.
I don't have to stay home to drink and dance. and my "kids" are grown. I've done my jopb raising them. I want to have fun on my "family " vacation.. huby and me.
i really don't care where YOUR kids are on YOUR family vacation.. mine are home with their own kids. why would it bother you if a small portion of Disney property is not just more shops and restauarants?. there are plenty at the village market place,
don't get me wrong.. We LOVE trex, rainforest, earl of sandwhich, wolfgang pucks, etc etc. (I won't list ALL the shops!!!
how would it hurt you to have a few adult orientated places?

since my kids are grown, I won't be dumping them with a sitter. and I work hard for my vacation money, If I want to drink on my vacation, I will. there is PLENTY family entertainment at disney, ya think?

Pleasure Island was never meant for a family with a 2 year old, let alone one with medical issues that can't be with a sitter.

to reiterate... there is PLENTY for families with children to do at WDW. Pleasure Island was a place for , basically, adults.. or, like comedy club and adventurers club, families with older children. .. village marketplace has plenty of stores. there are planty of restaurants. .
there is nothing wrong with an adult orientated venue at WDW.. for the many honeymooners, empty nesters, adults who choose not to have children.. adults who choose to hire a sitter, etc etc etc.

Never said there was anything wrong with adult only entertainment. Just simply answering the question that was asked. Had this post happened before my son was born I would have had a totally different answer.

That would totally annoy me. Why can't they have a tween club? Or they need a time rule, its after 8 pm no one under 21 allowed there. Huge difference between a teeny bopper singing some Justin Beiber or whoever vs adults.

Translation: every one must go to Disney and vacation my way or it's not right. :confused3

My sons are older get them Rihanna as a sitter and you can dump them any time you want. and yes I find the assumption that people who chose to use disney kid clubs are "dumping" their kids pretty darn offensive.

Better call family services because some times my husband and I actually abandon our kids and go to Disney by ourselves. :scared1:

Rude to say the least.
