We just returned from 10 nights at POR and I am happy to report that things are much much better there than they were for us 2 years ago. The room was clean (not spotless, but reasonably clean), the buses were better (not as good as CSR, but not as horrible as they used to be), and the food court was way way better.

Two years ago, they served hamburgers sitting in 1-2 inches of grease (and were not very nice if you asked for one that wasn't in the grease). Now, they cook them to order and they were fairly decent. There's a nice toppings bar (lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles) for the burgers as well. The make your own salad was a huge hit for my family - there's a large selection to choose from. They get out a huge metal bowl, put in your lettuce of choice, warm chicken or steak, all your choices of extras (tomatoes, cheeses, olives, etc.), add dressing and mix it all up for a long time. Then, they transfer it to a plastic container and send the bowl and tongs back to be washed. I was very impressed :goodvibes. Lots of effort for each individual.

The food court CM's were also very friendly and patient.

The pool area was clean and the pool bar stayed open longer than it did for our last trip. The life guards weren't overly friendly, but they were watchful :).

The boat to DTD came often and was a wonderful amenity as usual.

The CM's at the front desk were also very kind and helpful - both check-in and concierge.

After this experience, I would recommend POR to anybody with no hesitation!

Thanks for the review. Going to POR in Nov. with family members and hoping to have a great time! Which section of POR did you stay in? We are staying in Alligator Bayou as we are 5 people.

We stayed in Alligator Bayou (there's 5 of us too) and it is beautiful. Very nicely themed and quiet. We were in building 16 which is an easy walk to the food court and has a really pretty quiet pool behind it. There's also a convenient laundry room by the quiet pool. We spent a couple hours swimming and doing laundry there one afternoon. Try to make time to take the boat to DTD and swim in the main pool. The lifeguards left at 8 p.m. which means the slide and water sprays are shut off.

We're staying there for the first time in 2 weeks....very excited!!! :cool1:

You will love it!! We also stayed in building 16 and it was such a nice walk to the food court & bus stop. The grounds are just beautiful too. We would see little bunnies every morning on the path. :goodvibes The kids loved that. The food court is very good and the people were very friendly too. We are booked again for POR in May and I can't wait!:thumbsup2

Another interesting note - this was the first time we didn't request a particular building or even area and the first time we were placed close to where we wanted to be :goodvibes. Who can figure out disney :rotfl:?

Glad you enjoyed. I'm going back in 26 days (but who's counting?) I love POR and have been there frequently over the last few years. It's my favorite and have never had a problem there :goodvibes

POR is my favorite mod. You might want to try the freshly prepared pasta dish on your next trip. You choose a shape of pasta, a sauce, a protein, and a vegetable. I had fettucine with shrimp and artichoke hearts in a pesto sauce. Delicious!

:thumbsup2

That's wonderful to hear! We have stayed there about 10times and it was always a great stay. I have to agree with you on the food. It was very good this time, but 4 years ago when we lasted stayed, the food wasn't all that appetizing. This time it was so good, especially the turkey dinner!

The only complain I have from our last stay there was that we ALWAYS got the room we wanted. If we wanted bottom floor in Magnolia Terrace facing the gazebo, we got it. But I guess since we hadn't stayed there in 4 years, they gave us what they claimed was not apart of the Allegator Bayous (but sure did look like one to me), 2nd floor, all the way in the back of the property. Yeah, very long walk to the front. The only good thing was it was right next to a bus stop. Other than that, POR was great!

One more thing! While the buses were much better than they have been in the past, you must plan a lot of time to get where you're going. Keep in mind that if you get on at the main bus stop (near the lobby), you will stop at 3 more spots before heading out of POR. For example, if you want to be at a park before opening, you should be at the bus stop 45 mins. to 60 mins. ahead of time. Sometimes its faster than this - it just depends on your timing.

I am so excited for our stay there in December! I stayed there 10 years ago with some friends, but do not remember much about the resort, except that I remember we stayed in the mansion section, and I vaguely remember the food court. It was Dixie Landings back then.
