Princess Weekend 2024!

Might have to dig back to the prior maps but I think they’ve settled into a routine with the 10k maps, that’s the third year in a row they’ve used an iteration of this for PW. Main difference has been which side of the lake you race on.

Since 2022:

MW: Full loop of the lake and Epcot
SS: Full loop of the lake and Epcot
W&D: HS->Boardwalk->Epcot

I'd guess it's a space issue? During MW, the F corral was on the other side of the whole start line area setup.

The countdown is really on for princess weekend! I am starting to get excited (and worrying that I might be forgetting something, lol).

Anyone else spending the week after princess weekend at the parks on their DVC points and going to Moonlight Magic at AK on 2/27? If so, I hope to see you there-this will be our first MM event!

I have yet to convince my husband that DVC is worth it, but I've got the AP so baby steps. I'd love to know how MM is as it looks very fun!

I'll be in the parks from 2/23 - 3/1 but no deluxe for me so I'm kinda sad about the 9pm close time of MK. Last year the week after the race it was still 11pm.

Have we decided on a meetup date and time? Is it still on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Hannah's?

Ohh, I'd love to join if we're doing this if only for a little bit! It's our wedding anniversary Saturday so I figured I'd go crazy at Le Cellier before the half. haha

I think every "first" race distance is incredibly meaningful--whether you are doing the 5k or a full marathon. The journey getting there is pretty darn special. I feel like you never forget each experience (good or bad, lol).

I did the wine an dine 10k as my first and I definitely cried after / as I was crossing the finish line. A Disney run or not the feeling of accomplishment is magical and I love seeing everyone's finish photos

I have bought a few thermal foil blankets for the cold mornings

I bought some too just in case! W&D they only gave out blankets before the 5k but not the 10k so I was sol. lol


I'll post some photos of my outfits soon! I knew I wouldn't have time to be crafty so I did splurge on a tutu factory outfit to be Giselle from Enchanted at the half and I bought a secondhand Provincial Belle outfit from someone of FB

Is anyone planning to bring friendship bracelets to exchange? I just learned about this recently and have had fun making them. It's a way to de-stress after work and think about Disney . Not sure if it's a holdover from TS fandom or is a Disney thing too, but I'm planning to bring a bunch to hand out just for fun. Look for Maid Marian (10K) and Olaf (half) if you want one!

MW I didn't have my own to exchange but I was given some. I think I ended up with 6 or 7 in addition to the couple my kids made for me. So it's definitely still a thing.

Yep, looks like it's the same 10k route as Princess 2022 and 2023. I didn't look back farther than that. I was hoping for the 10k route from Marathon weekend.

I think it's relatively new, they used to do the Epcot + resorts loop.

Also, one correction to the list above! 2022 MW 10k had this same structure. Since then they've gone with the Epcot + lake loop.

Generally if you go 2 or 3 times a year and stay in deluxe resorts, it makes sense. DH did a whole spreadsheet comparison back when we bought and our break-even was 7 years iirc. That was in 2001 but a simple update of costs would be easy to do if you ever want it as ammo!

When do we get to see what our BIB number is? Last 2 races they gave me a BIB number that was associated with my wife's times which put me in the wrong coral. They did not use my POT from the registration. Lucky they fixed it at the expo.

When tracking goes live, which is usually a few days before the race, you can find your bib number via the tracking website. Otherwise they don't send out bib numbers before.

We’ll see our bib number on the expo pass, which will be available the week of the expo.

I'm so excited about the last 0.3 of the half, running past spaceship earth and directly into that final stretch corral. Skipping that backstage last stretch past test track which always feels way longer than it is. We had this route laid out for the half over marathon weekend, but then they shortened the course and we were back to the test track backstage route. Really excited for this half! (and running through the castle and MK, because all of MK got cut out of the course during marathon weekend half).

I’m volunteering by handing out medals for the half, and it’s curious why they want volunteers for the 5k and 10k to go to Epcot and they want half volunteers to go to WWoS. Since I’m going to be at the finish line, I’ve sent an email asking if I can just report to Epcot. Makes the most sense to me anyway. I can take a race bus directly to where I’m supposed to be.

Yes. AccuWeather was showing rain on Saturday/Saturday night, but now it’s gone away. The low temp for the half is a bit higher than I would like, but not too bad.

And this has just made me go and stalk the weather I'm leaving in 10 days so need to start thinking about packing soon... Hopefully it's not going to be too freezing cold in the mornings!
