New dvc gift - no more sliders

Hi all! Have been stopping by dvc booths the last day or two asking about the sliders. CMs kept telling me something even cooler was coming. Here is the "something cooler". DL and aulani will have their own version. Will let y'all decide for yourself on the "cool" factor.

Does it come framed? Or is it in a shrink-wrap plastic on a cardboard backing? Or is that just what you did to ours after you got it, and it came plain?
All I know is that the last time I was at WDW, we were told that we could only get our sliders at the DVC desk at our resort. Problem was that every time I checked there was no one at the DVC desk at the resort where we stayed. So I hope that this time we can get our gift in the park.

Well...does the coin grant me one time access to Club 33?

It's metal medallion thing about the size of a gold dollar coin. Comes in a plastic clamshell wrapper - the kind that you cut yourself on trying to get stuff out. We have no idea what it's good for. Will try to see if it gets us into club 33! Good suggestion!

The cm specifically called out dl and aulani and did not mention the others, but would make sense?

Sliders are at least functional and keep your magic band from falling off. One of our bands had the last few pegs spontaneously pop off last week, a slider would have been handy to keep the band from coming off.

That was exactly my thought. This is going to end up in a drawer not to be seen again until the next time I move.

The plastic sliders don't really do anything either, at least not by design. UInlike the sliders you buy on Etsy or Amazon, the slot through the DVC slider is too narrow to practically fit both sides of the band through it. It's purely for decoration (until it breaks and falls off, or disappears with the rest of the Magic Band). I mean, you can force it and stuff it in, but it's not designed for that purpose.

Sometimes I think Disney could give away pairs of Louboutins, and someone would complain that they have corns and can't wear them. Or Bose headphones and someone would complain that they are deaf in one ear and feel cheated that they can only get half the use out of them as someone else.

I would absolutely try to walk around the park in a pair of Louboutin, just to give everyone a laugh!

I kind of like the idea of these challenge coins. While I probably will go out of my way to collect them, I definitely wouldn't carry them (in the case of a challenge).

Hook's Barbery on the Wish has them as well for some of the higher-end pours, acting more as collectibles/mementos than true challenge coins.

I'm actually slightly surprised they didn't make one for each resort to sell as heavily marked-up merch.
