Is a $15 Disney gift card per room an acceptable fish extender gift? I’m not creative and I’m traveling a long way. Also, this is my first tine doing this and I signed up for like 3 groups so I have 13 room to gift lol. Is a gift card too lame? Or is $15 too little amount? Thanks!!

Kinda lame yeah. I hate to be honest when I know you would rather hear differently. I’d be a little disappointed because I love surprises. You could select so many fun or useful things from Amazon and slap on a Mickey sticker. Especially if you are going to put $15 into the card. Flashlights, nightlights, deck of cards and a cribbage board with a Mickey sticker. What do I think when I see a gift that just has a Mickey sticker? Cool gift.
Tiny first aid kits, red and black wine glass charms? Cool gift and you didn’t have to put a sticker on the red and black wine charms for Mickey and Minnie colors.
Kids yeah that’s harder. Assume all kids 12 and up are adults more than a child.

I think it is a great idea! Kids would love that they could go buy something at the shop on-board and adults could have a drink or two or buy themselves something. All they need to do is give the gift card to guest services to apply to their account. I would love to receive a gift card of any amount over something we wouldn't need/use.

Personally I think our family would enjoy it as it would allow us a little family treat to share together. As another said, I’d like that over things we won’t use. While I love creative gifts and we’ve been amazed at some of our gifts, I would happily enjoy a gift card over dollar store items I could have picked up at the corner.

I appreciate the honesty! I think I’ll do the gift card + a small gift since I bought them already. TY!!

I think the amount is way too much. For a fish extender. Not for a gift card in general, but for fish extenders yes. the thought of spending so much money on people I do not know, and in exchange for some local candies.

And yes, you will risk it that there are people who think it is lame. Because there is nothing personal about it. It is the easy gift when you don't know what to give someone.

If you think you can get $200 worth of enjoyment out of it, then do it. But... I would spend my money differently.

Yes I'd love it! Especially as we don't spend a lot of money onboard because the dollar is so weak. I'd love to get a gift card to put towards a little something for myself.

For me, I'd be kinda frustrated with it. Yes by value it fits right in but part of the Fish Extender fun is getting a fun gift to open. For me I already will have budgeted and added money to my account to cover everything. So the giftcard would go home with me and sit in a drawer until my next cruise.

So its not that you CANT do something like that but this might sound harsh but if you don't want to get into it then why sign up in the first place. It sounds like you don't have space to bring gifts which means you likely won't have space to get them home. I really am not trying to be mean but just make sure you're thinking about it. I plan to use the space I am bringing my gifts in to travel what I receive home.

You don't have to be creative or artsy to be involved. I know a lot of people that purchase their gifts from etsy or local stores.

Im not a fan of doing FEs now because I feel they are so much work and you get so much stuff that I dont want or need, just not my thing. With that said, giving/receiving gift cards sounds like a wonderful idea! That I would love to get....Id put it toward my bar bill! :goodvibes

You can't get an extra smoothie or an alcoholic drink with that gift card? How do you put the exact amount on your account that you are going to spend?

I put a little over what I plan to spend on my account. So if I already am planning all the extras it wouldn't be put to use on that cruise. Even for my kids, we have done enough disney trips at this point that we have a pretty good estimate on amount they'll spend in the gift shop, extras, etc.

It isn't that I'd never use it but I'd put it back to be used in the future. So it wouldn't really be a cool gift for this trip. Usually FE gifts are something useful for the trip, something to remember the trip by, something from the place they are from, etc.

Idk I'm not a gift card kinda gift person anyways. When people give me giftcards I am likely to lose them before I ever remember to spend them. Which is what companies bank on, about 1 in 5 giftcards purchased never get used. So to companies 20% of their giftcard sales are pure profit. I'm a financial analyst by trade and when I learned that I almost stopped buying gift cards completely. I'll buy a few but not as many as I use to.

For $10-20 I honestly can say I wouldn't waste time in line at guest services to add it to my account. That's just me tho, everyone is different. Unless there is a major problem you won't catch me in that line. I'd rather be in line for the Aqua duck or something fun making memories.

I guess you can pass it on to someone else. I am sure someone would love to get pixie dusted with a gift card.

I think I'm the odd person out here. If it's going to be so complicated or stressful, why bother to partake in FE group at all? More stuff to have to worry about before a cruise, and if you spend a lot of time and effort to make something, and then someone complains about what I made, my feelings would be hurt. And as others have said, some people give dollar store junk, who needs more of that? What I would do, if I did participate, and if you happen to be at WDW before the cruise, figure out the number of people in the group, go to DAK or the Seas at Epcot and make a $1 donation to the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund for each person. They will give you buttons, write up a brief description about the fund and the donation to include with the buttons, and give the buttons to everyone in the group. At least the money spent goes to a good cause!

I dont think it's lame. Better to get something you can use versus stuff that takes space.

$15 is the minimum amount you can put on a GC at Disney at the parks. ShopDisney requires $25 minimum
