Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Information & Questions + Construction Updates

Ok, a few pics showing a different perspective. There is quite a bit of lobby available for relaxing or awaiting a room, and it isn’t loud in here right now. Also, they are actively working on the panels that face the lobby on upper floors. That is more than guest room work.
I have to say, this post made me feel a lot better about my upcoming stay in September (assuming it doesn't get worse).

A lot of the construction pictures make it look like the lobby is completely closed down, but those pics show it's clearly not the case.

I'm assuming as they finish working on the paneling in that section, they will move those walls and the cranes gradually towards the other end of the lobby. Does anyone who is there have any information about the progress? I haven't seen anything new in a few days. I'd love to get an idea of how fast (or slow) they are moving with the crane work?

I've experienced this with a number of restaurants and I'm not sure why. Even for my longer trips (two weeks), there was nothing available at the two week mark.

Keep checking every day. If it's any consolation, I've never had difficulty getting a Narcoossee's reservation the day before/day of.
I just got a res at Narcoosee’s 3 days out and was able to change it to a better time the day before. It was better than pre-closure, IMO!

I’m so glad. I actually changed my room res’s (I was unable to get TPV for my first night) because I was so worried about being homeless for a few hours in the middle of the day with no lobby and rain in the forecast, and I was kicking myself when I saw that there was plenty of space and seating! I wanted to be sure people knew it wasn’t the entire space. I suspect they will be moving around as they progress. Enjoy, those new rooms are gorgeous and worth a little construction unsightliness!

I left on Sunday, but they were definitely moving the crane location around while I was there. Staging area was the same throughout my visit (4 nights).

I wonder how many rooms they can do in a week/month. There could be a chance they're done by mid-September when I go... but I won't hold my breath.

Even if they get the rooms done I believe they will still be working on the outside and the roof of the main building so the white walls and scaffolding should still be wrapped around it. We’re going at the end of august and just hope we can sit In the lobby and listen to the piano without the cranes.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a little advice here. I have a trip planned for mid September and I just changed my reservation from AKL to a GF/Swan split stay. I have a water view room booked at GF. Will water view blow me away? What is the chance I will be able to see fireworks from my room? I could switch my entire stay (6 nights) to GF if I change to resort view. What would you do??

I’d personally switch my entire stay to GF. I prefer a longer trip somewhere over a view. Good luck deciding.

I feel the same way! Not all water views at GF will have a partial theme park view. You could have a great view of Poly DVC tower construction or the GF boat marina. Resort views at GF are all pretty great unless you get one RIGHT behind the pool house which is really only a concern for DVC resort studios. GF also has some nice spots to watch the fireworks (pending no construction closures). Gasparilla's patio is great and Narcoossee's/resort boat launch is another wonderful option.

I do enjoy the Epcot resort area, but I would personally prefer more GF to a GF/Swan split. If we were talking YC/BC I may have a harder time deciding. :rotfl:

Thank you so much for the info! I was having FOMO about the water view, but I think I'm going to switch to resort view and stay all 6 nights at GF. I had originally booked at BC, then switched to WL, then YC, AKL and now GF. I think I will stay put now as I've never stayed at GF and I'm getting pretty excited about it!

Summerhouse Roofing Replaced, Work Continues in Lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Plants have been removed from the planters around the construction site in the Main Bldg.

On the second floor, we noticed these white tarps over railings near the elevators. These railings are just decorative, but likely also being repainted.
