July 2023 planning and chat thread!

You can only book day by day. We have 5 days and I have 5 reminders in my calendar to book each day starting next Sunday.

I am not 100% sure about booking of you don’t have park reservations, I think you might need them to book.
Thank you! I’m glad that my days to book ADR are on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. At least I can go back to bed for two days. 😂

I did try to book a dining reservation this morning for “practice”, it doesn’t seem that I will need the park tickets and park reservations. I will see which restaurants I can get for each day and then decide on which park to start with on each day.

Just to clarify...dining typically opens at 9AM EST correct? 6AM Pacific Standard Time? Also what is the cancellation policy for a dining reservation like for Disneyland? Is it also 2 hours like Disney World?

Yes, although there are a bunch of people who have reported being able to book earlier than 6am PST, sometimes as early as 3am PST, 6am EST.

Also yes about the 2 hour cancellation policy.

Yes I believe the 3am one was for people who were staying at a DLR hotel and had it linked to their account and were able to make them, although I’ve heard conflicting things about it. I’ll have to try it out myself, have a stay at the GC in october. Also, I don’t know if anyone has input on this, but last time I attempted to cancel a reservation for a DTD restaurant, I was told they’re still working on the old system (11:59 the night before)

I believe DLR updated their policy sometime in November 2022, although the DL website still says:

Dining – Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
How do I cancel a dining reservation at the Disneyland Resort?
A:
You can cancel your dining reservation online or with the Disneyland app.
If you have not yet linked your reservation to your Disney account, you will need to do so before cancelling it online or with the Disneyland app.
Restaurants offering advance reservations charge a per person cancellation fee for reservations cancelled after the designated period or for no shows. Each restaurant at the Disneyland Resort maintains its own cancellation policy, so be sure to confirm the policy before finalizing your reservation.
When booking online or in the Disneyland app, please refer to the cancellation policy provided at the time of booking and in your email confirmation.

I ended up trying today around 7AM EST (4AM PST) and pretty much everything was available except Goofy's Kitchen (which seems like it is probably either a glitch, or just wasn't loaded yet - as there are tons of times still available in the weeks leading up to my date). We do have a stay at Grand Californian so maybe that did help.

One thing I will say about cancellation...I read the fine print and our reservation for StoryTellers said 2 hours before, I also made one for 2 of our family members who are coming in later than us for Naples Ristorante and Bar and their cancellation in the fine print says 24 hours, so it seems to vary by Downtown Disney restaurants versus Disney Hotel and Disney Theme Park dining.

Are there any tips/tricks to linking family/friends and seeing that you are linked in the Disneyland App/Website? This seems like something that isn't as easy as WDW. I assume I can control everything for the people booked in my room, but we have 2 family members staying at Paradise Pier as well, and I am planning to book their genie+ rides throughout the day together with us while we are there, and planning ahead towards that. Is there anything I need to do to link them to me, and me to them?

You will just need to link all of the tickets to an account in order for on person to book the LL’s for everyone, but as for the hotel unless you booked it and have it linked to your account you won’t be able to access that reservation (if that’s what your asking!). The PP members of your party will still be able to be linked to your account via the tickets though.

This is the part I'm struggling with. We each booked separate packages...have the confirmation numbers for both...plugged those into both accounts and I can see their hotel reservations...but it doesn't allow me to see their reserved parks for the day, which makes me worried I am missing something that would prevent me from doing genie+ for them as well. I also can't see their dining we have booked together (same time slots but separate reservations/tables), like I would be able to with WDW. I don't see individual ticket numbers for each person to link...is the confirmation number for the package sufficient? or do I need to wait for the etravel documents to link individual tickets to each account for genie+ purposes. Not sure if any of this makes sense, as I am coming from a WDW angle, where this stuff seems a lot simper with the friends and family feature.

Are your tickets linked to your account? The reason you can’t see their dining reservations is probably because it wasn’t under your account. And did you link both packages to a singular account or different ones? The tickets and passes section will show which tickets you have linked, and you can link them by scanning the barcode or entering the ticket number. For example, if the other account has their tickets linked to that account, you will be able to scan the barcode in their tickets and passes section to link it to yours and vice versa. Then either one of you will be able to book G+ for the whole party. I believe you may have to wait for the etravel documents to send because of the tickets, unless you already have them? It’s been a while since I’ve done a package, but yeah overall it’s a lot harder compared to WDW!

Honestly, It's hard to tell. I have my park reservations, so they are there somewhere, but under tickets and passes nothing shows up like it normally would for WDW. All I have is the confirmation from the full package, which I entered/linked so hotel reservations are there, and I was able to make my park reservations with that. I guess I will wait until I get the etravel documents and go from there to link the tickets so I can see everybody. Packages were linked to different accounts. I think I'm just worrying, because usually for WDW we would have our magic bands, and know everything is there and good to go via them. With DL because Magic bands don't function the same way and only MB+ is an option, I just want to make sure I get everyones tickets linked to their individual disneyland accounts so they can scan into the parks and all of that and I'm not scrolling through my phone for each person as they enter holding up the line.

On the Disneyland app, your park reservations are under "Future Plans", not "Tickets and Passes"

Yes...I have that part (and that is similar to WDW as well)...the part I don't have are the actual tickets under tickets and passes. When I said "they are there somewhere" I was referring to the tickets, but I can see how that could have been read as park reservations as well. Under my tickets and passes it still shows to scan bar codes and link tickets at this time. With a WDW package, they automatically populate and are linked in that area after putting in the package confirmation number (there is no separate ticket number to worry about). It seems with Disneyland, I now need to get the actual ticket numbers (whenever they arrive via etravel documents), in order to link my friends and family to me for booking genie+ reservations.

We are good with reservations, park reservations, hotel...I can see all of those...what I am worried about is when it comes time to do Genie+, the only way to do it for my whole party is for all of our tickets to be linked, and as of now, those individual ticket numbers don't seem to be available. It's not a big deal, if we don't have them when it gets closer, I will call and get it sorted...I was more trying to figure out if this is a glitch/issue on my end...or just normal procedure for DL.

We're going July 2nd-7th and staying at the Candy Cane Inn. We'll have 4 day hoppers for DH and I and DD and DS will do 3 day hoppers and 1 day Universal. Looking forward to going in the summer during the 4th of July and trying out Candy Cane Inn!

If you are going to Universal for Nintendoland, then I'd buy the early passes. During busy days its hard to do mch in that land without waiting for a long time. While people who go early get to walk on the ride and games and even do the meet in greets much easier

Welcome to the July thread everyone! I think I have added everyone to the list on the first page but please let me know if I missed you!

I got a callback on Tuesday from Napa Rose and although our preferred date (July 9) was not available, we were able to get a reservation for the Chef's Counter on July 8th!

Great to hear! I am sure it will be an awesome experience!

As a heads up for everyone…
Last couple of days I checked out how fast you have to be to get your desired reservation for the restaurants and was surprised on how quick the popular ones are booked and become unavailable…
trader sams and oga’s just about 1 minute and even for a regular blue bayou lunch you won’t have that many choices left if you are slowee. o_O crazy!
Yes it’s for the dates around 4th July but I thought it would compare to thanksgiving 2019 but nope thanksgiving was a walk into the park compared to “now”…
I am now getting a little anxious but really hope it’s because 4th July crowds and it gets better towards the end of July…
Also goofys kitchen didn’t open reservations at 60 days out but lagged a couple of days behind…

If it’s any reassurance, I was able to get Trader Sam’s and Blue Bayou for my preferred dates and times for early July. I booked them the second reservations opened and Trader Sam’s definitely went fast. BB still had plenty of lunch options when I changed my mind and reservation time 15 minutes later. I would set alarms to book right when reservations open and prioritize for the most popular one first. I’ve also heard good things about Trader Sam’s as a walk up the day of, and of course there are also dining alerts if you don’t get something.

Anyway, wanted to share my experience since I’d been worried and got both things I wanted. Good luck to all!

I'm mostly thinking about the reservation I want for my daughter's birthday (Blue Bayou Fantasmic package). Is fantasmic not up and running now? I'm not sure what's happening with it since there was an incident...
