VDH Opening

Ok, so it's an awesome location. Never been there but it sounded like other non Disney hotels were better located.
I think there’s still a lot of benefit of VDH. Even if a few off property hotels are as close, VDH/Disneyland Hotel are very nice - if location is literally all that matters (which to some it is and that’s perfectly valid), then yeah there’s cheaper off site options. But VDH is still super close AND the walk is through downtown Disney vs off property on S Harbor Blvd which is perfectly safe but can feel a bit dingy. It’s just that Grand Cal is super close and connected to a theme park, it’s a tough comparison because Grand Cal sets a high bar 😊

Noooooo! I love the Monsters Inc ride. It’s so cute.
Me too. Although I've always been a little sad that we never got to ride Superstar Limo (aka "The Great Movie Ride on Crack" which was replaced by Monsters Inc in the same location, as it had already shut down on our first ever trip to DCA in 2002.

I saw there is a 50 point minimum purchase. Is that for financing? Can you go to 25 with cash?

I don't believe so, but I'm not sure & maybe they'll lower it if sales aren't booming?
I wonder if purchasing 50, you can break it into two 25's? (almost seems pointless, but would definitely help with resale value down the road)

As a ride for adults its pretty forgettable, but my toddler loves it lol
I love dark rides, so as an adult, it’s still right up my alley. But I agree, it has a great toddler appeal. And as a mom of a small child, I appreciate the attractions without a height requirement that are still really well themed. As it is, I think California Adventure isn’t the greatest for small children, so I don’t think they can afford to lose anything in that arena.

my kids are 6 and 4 and love kids rides but do not care for monsters inc. they LOVE the Na'vi River Journey though

I just don't see how they are going to make it fit.

I just don't want them to get rid of the Redwood Creek Challenge or whatever it's called. That's such a nice area for kids to safely run around. And it's really cute too. But I fear since it's not tied to an IP and not a 'ride' that it's days will be numbered.

I will say that maybe being rethemed could happen but I think with what they’ve done with Toon Town and the new Moana attraction at Epcot, Disney seems to see value in experiences that are active and allow kids to stretch their legs and explore a bit.

we love that area! my kids can spend an hour there, such a good way to decompress and take a break from long lines

From the latest pictures, they still have to complete the garden wing and the pool area, not to imagine the theming and furniture in these rooms. With only 5 months until completion date, is anyone worried that it won't be open for Sept 28th?

It’s right by Little Mermaid, so they could want to combine Redwood with Little Mermaid into something Avatar related.

But then at that point, what about Grizzly River Run? And that whole area flows into the Grand Cal theming. I just think it would be awful personally. I also like how both coasts are different. I want to see different attractions/theming at each. Some overlap ok, but I think they’d be forcing it to fit Avatar into California Adventure. I like the remaining California theming that exists. But IP is getting very popular…
