Nifty Fifty: The Great return of the Sauciers! - April 2022 TR

This really sounds good.
It was nice and moist and felt actually healthy. We really have to try Spice Road Table one day.

Hopefully now that some of the international students have started coming back it's better.
It has to! I think when we were there, they had just announced there return. So, It was nice to know that it would be happening soon. It's interesting how you didn't really realize how it made those countries feel authentic until all the people were gone.

I haven't had this happen since 2002.
I know! I thought that is part of why they did the permant fixtures, so they wouldn't have to block traffic.

I have never seen this but I think it's part of the Duck Tales Adventure now.
That would make sense!

You always find the best seating areas.. in all these years going to Disney I have never seen that Japan quick service area.
It really was a good find! We will def use it in the future! It was very peaceful.

Loved reading this update
Thanks for following along as I sloooooowwwly get updates made.

Day Six: Completing our Eating Around the World

I left us off finishing up in Norway and us making a "new plan". We had a Remy time slot to get to and a Test Track time slot to hit, so we needed to organize the day. We decided to walk to Mexico for "dinner" and then work our way back to France from there. Stopping to get the stickers that we skipped and hit up the Japan shopping as well.

So, at 3:50 we were headed to Mexico. The girls decided they wanted churros and Andy and I wanted something more savory. So, I took the girls to La Cantina to get the Churros and Andy got in line for Margaritas and Chips and Guacamole.

We grabbed a table in the counter service area. Which was not easy as there are no enough tables in the area.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4k1iV]Untitled
This is the order of Churros... Basically one big churro cut in half. Thankfully I ordered one for each of them. They said it was good. At least they are fresh here.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4j4t3]Untitled
The Guacamole was good, nothing special but good. I am sad that they switched to regular chips. But I love fresh guac and this is that. Since we were in the counter service area, I also grabbed some verde sauce which was nice to have as well.

Andy got the Black Magic margarita again! YEAH! I didn't realize you could get it outside as well. Which kind of made it less special. If that makes sense.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4j4sM]Untitled
The girls picked at the chips as well. Gwen apparently dipped her chip in the leftover chocolate sauce.... I don't know what to tell you, she is strange....

It was 4:00 now, so we knew we wouldn’t be able to hit all of the countries. So, we discussed which countries we wanted to stop at and which we would possibly skip. Mostly decided to stop if the wait was short or not to grab something but we did say China was skipable... We get Chinese Food all the time at home, so it isn't anything "special.

We headed into the pavilion. As we were getting up I saw a mom holding a tray and had Gwen grab the lady to take our table. She was much appreciated.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4fb6C]Untitled
We looked around in the pavilion, mostly just to find the kidcot station and headed out.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4j4sS]Untitled
I was tempted to get this mug. But I had already bought a mug for the trip. I would love to collect mugs from each country at some point. Right now i have mostly from the resorts we have stayed at. But that can be hard sometimes.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4kmk6]Untitled
ANYWAY! We found the kidcot station, grabbed the stickers and headed out!

We got to Norway around 4:30 and it didn’t have a line, so we went in there. We have only gotten something from here once before. We aren't big coconut people, so we skipped the things everyone gets, which the name is totally escaping my memory right now.
Untitled

We decided on the Lefse Bread instead.
https://flic.kr/p/2o4j4SQ]Untitled
It was ok.... Almost a like a tortilla with cinnamon and sugar. But the "tortilla" was more bread like than torilla, if that makes sense. I personally wouldn’t get it again. But it wasn't bad, just not amazing. But def fun to try. It was only $3.50 and was quite large! I would recommend if you have a picky kid. Like the one who eats buttered noodles or even if they just like cinnamon toast for breakfast. It was very reminiscent of that.

School Bread!!! That's it!

We only sat shortly and got moving again. We were on a mission now. We found the kidcot for a card. This one didn’t even have a CM, it was just a table with cards and stickers on it. Maybe they ran to the restroom or maybe they were done for the day, who knows. But we didn't care.

We skipped China as the line for the food booth was long. And we figured we would just order something we could have at home anyway.

Untitled
We got to Germany just before 5 and stopped at the food booth - Bauernmarkt: Farme’s Market. The line wasn't too bad. So I hopped in line and Andy and the girls found a shaded piece of ground to sit in.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4hzZ4]Untitled
I ordered the toasted pretzel and this was probably my favorite thing of the day!
The Toasted Pretzel Bread topped with Black Forest Ham and Melted Gruyere Cheese was really good. Cheese really made the me item. It was nice and melty and creamy! We sadly all only had a quarter of it but it hit the spot.

I also ordered the Apfelschaumwein, which was Sparking Wine and Apple Liquier My drink was good as well. It was well, what you would expect, champagne with an apple liquer in it.

Germany was a short stay, we had to sit on a curb to get any shade and we were right next to where Snow White was going to come out, and it was getting crowded as more and more people started to line up.

But that was ok, as we needed to head out to find the missing kidcot items.

We skipped Italy, again we said this was food we make at home. Pizza and pasta, done that.

We made it to America a little after 5:0 and went to find the kidcot in America. This was another booth with no one even at it. Must have been the time of day, maybe?
Untitled

We grabbed the stickers and headed to Japan to look in the store and find the kidcot!

https://flic.kr/p/2o4k3xK]Untitled
We grabbed a photo pass picture here. There was only 1 family getting a photo, so why not!

The family in front of us had a little girl who just wasn’t having it. She looked tired and just didn't want to get out of the stroller. So, they decided to just to the photo without here. They have a teen girls and son as well and half way through the teen son hopped out of the photos half way through. The mom had that look on her face like, why did we bring these stupid kids with us! Ha. We just giggled. We have all been there!

https://flic.kr/p/2o4fdfh]Untitled
Look at that stupid bardge!!! You can see all the parts on it! So ugly!

After our photos, we headed into the store. The store def didn’t have as much merch as it usually does. It def felt like they were having issues getting stuff from Japan. Morgan did find some nano blocks that she wanted.
Untitled
Gwen thought about getting this plush duck but decided against it. The line to pay was really long, so, Gwen and I went ahead to Morocco to use the bathroom while they paid.

Andy and Morgan met us in Morocco and we headed into to Remy!

It was now 5:45 and the wait for Remy was 108 minutes! So, we were glad to have the LL.
https://flic.kr/p/2o4hyzf]Untitled
We scanned in at 5:48 and on the ride at 5:55. So, basically a walk on with the ILLs.

https://flic.kr/p/2o4hyyU]Untitled

Untitled

This was our first time on the ride and it was really cute. I def wouldn’t pay to ride it again. But glad we did for the first time. We all agreed that we liked Mickey & Minnie's Runaway railway better. If you havne't done both still. Try and do Remy first for sure!
https://flic.kr/p/2o4hyza]Untitled

We grabbed a photo pass photo outside of the rode.

Untitled

Untitled

After Remy, we headed to a test Track. We were all getting tired by now and the walk felt a bit long! But we tried to just walk at a slow pace as we headed over.

Untitled
We snapped a photo with the golden Figment Statue along the way.
Untitled

We did make it to Test Track. I don't know what the wait was but I do think it was long. I think it had been down at one point that day.
Untitled

They brought us to the room with all the numbers fairly quickly and then it felt like we waited there forever. But eventually we got into the room to make our cars.
Untitled

Untitled
This was Morgan and my Car.

And this was Gwen and Andy's car.
Untitled

After we finished our cars, the doors opened and that room was full of people. Ugh! It was slow moving to merge and get up the ramp. We didn't make it up the ramp before the other room came out. Which was annoying because we were on the right hand side and the left hand side folks had a better angle to get on the ramp. Thankfully they stopped filling the rooms until we all got up the ramp. I was afraid we were going to be piled up.

Morgan and I won at the car! (OF COURSE)

After test track we cut through creations. We just did a quick looked around. And we saw that creations restaurant was open. I think it was a soft opening that day. Which means we missed all the youtubers earlies in the day.

I must have gotten us a Soarin LL at some point, as we were headed there next. We had to walk around spaceship earth to get to soarin. Which is a HUGE pain in the you know what!!! I can not wait for the construction to be done!

We could have hopped on Nemo ride, it was posted 5 minutes but Morgan was tired and didn’t want to. I kind of wish we had but we didn’t want to push it.

We got to Soarin at 7:30 and the wait had gone down a lot. We just missed getting into the show but meant we ended up with B front row without really asking! The CM really liked our Orange Bird Shirts and we talked to him about Orange bird and pin trading for a bit while we waited. After we scanned in, I grabbed a Living of the Land LL. Which Morgan grumbled at.

After Soarin, we hopped on living with the land. There was no wait. We didn’t need the LL but we used it out of principle. I joked that we really needed that, and the CM just laughed. We got our very own boat!
Untitled
Look at how excitied Morgan was to ride this!?!?

This was only the 2nd time we had ridden the ride. Morgan said ride was boring. The first time we rode it, Morgan got off the ride and said “Ugh, I feel like I just rode through a Science Book” Gwen loved it.

Morgan still not amused by us....

Untitled

Untitled

After that we headed out. I had wanted to see the show on the EPCOT ball but that just would have added too many steps to the day. We were all exhausted. We did catch a glimpse of the beacon of magic. But kept moving out of the park.
Untitled

Walked back to our room.
Untitled
Stopped in the lobby and asked for our bags to be brought up to the room and then sent to find our room. We were Room 2019… literally all the way on the opposite side of EPCOT.

walking through the hallway made it feel like an enternity. But we found better ways to get 2 and from and it wasn't that bad.

Untitled
Two very tired ladies.

Untitled
We were greated by another Happy Birthday message!

We got our bags delivered around 8:45 and unpacked a bit. You would have thought it was midnight. But we were exhausted!!!

Up next a "rest day" Would we ACTUALLY rest?

Will we actually rest? Is a MOOD

Also it’s a shame about the Kidcot. I remember making a huge mask on a stick (clearly this was after the new year and tapestry of nations celebrations lol) and it was awesome. Hopefully now that international CMs are returning this will change.

Germany the past few years with food booths have been AMAZING!

I am sure it's getting better by now. At least I hope so. This trip is almost a year ago now! Yikes!

Germany the past few years with food booths have been AMAZING!
I am now craving that! We really haven't eaten in Germany before. Now we will have to try the quick service.

I agree about Remy. It is def cute and we liked it but love Mickey's Railroad more!
It sadly feels dated already, since they literally cloned the one in France, it kind of is... It's still cute and we will def ride it. I hope as more things open, the wait won't be too bad over time.

I still have a few of my boy's Epcot Passports from when the cast members used to stamp the passport page and write hello in their language (?). They had so much fun interacting with the cast members and getting them filled out! Of course, this was 20some years ago...(I'll have to dig one out and post a picture or two)

This combination looks really god.

. We aren't big coconut people, so we skipped the things everyone gets, which the name is totally escaping my memory right now.
Danielle loves the school bread. If you're looking for a good pick me up drink with Alcohol here I suggest the Frozen Viking Coffee. Danielle got us to try it in 2021 and we all loved it.

I ordered the toasted pretzel and this was probably my favorite thing of the day!
The Toasted Pretzel Bread topped with Black Forest Ham and Melted Gruyere Cheese was really good. Cheese really made the me item. It was nice and melty and creamy!

I've had this when it's fresh and really good and when it was not fresh so not good. We usually enjoy the food in Germany at the festivals.

Great Family Photo!

The family in front of us had a little girl who just wasn’t having it. She looked tired and just didn't want to get out of the stroller. So, they decided to just to the photo without here. I've been there too.

The store def didn’t have as much merch as it usually does. It def felt like they were having issues getting stuff from Japan.

This store is such a disappointment since covid, but I do think it's getting better. Danielle is still a regular in here.

This was our first time on the ride and it was really cute. I def wouldn’t pay to ride it again. But glad we did for the first time. We all agreed that we liked Mickey & Minnie's Runaway railway better. If you havne't done both still. Try and do Remy first for sure!

I enjoyed my first ride but the second one left me a little dizzy. I enjoy Mickey & Minnie's Runaway much more.

We snapped a photo with the golden Figment Statue along the way.

Very cute photo!

Morgan and I won at the car! (OF COURSE)

Congrats!

This was only the 2nd time we had ridden the ride. Morgan said ride was boring. The first time we rode it, Morgan got off the ride and said “Ugh, I feel like I just rode through a Science Book” Gwen loved it.

I hope she grows to love it. We did it for the first time in 2004 and it became a family favorite. I had pulled Michelle and Danielle out of school for that trip. After riding I told them both they should ask for school credit. Danielle loves LWTL but pitched a fit the one time I made her do The Presidents with me. She told me "I don't come to Disney to learn".

We got our bags delivered around 8:45 and unpacked a bit. You would have thought it was midnight. But we were exhausted!!!

Very long and busy day. I hope you got some rest.

Hi Everyone! I found Gwen's passport all filled out. So I thought it would be fun to do a mini installment of what she wrote. So without further adu... here is Gwen's notes!

Snack Consumed: BLT Scone
Drink Consumed: Water and Tea
Review: The scone kinda tasted like spagetti-os

Review: parts of the carmel hardened and made it hard to eat

Snack Consumed: Ham and cheese pretzel bread
Drink Consumed: Water
Review: The cheese was kind of weird but it was pretty good overall

It was delish!!

Super cute--thanks for sharing!! Where did you order those passports from?? Rob and I have done the Drink Around the World and Highway in the Sky Monorail dine around lanyards from Adventures 4 Funatics, but this would be a great addition!

Catching back up finally.

he is still in the hospital but they finally moved her out of ICU. There is still a lot of recovery to come. And she isn't fully out of the woods. But being out of ICU feels better. (but not great) So, between that and trying to keep the holidays up beat for the girls, it was a long month.

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear that, but glad that she's doing better. How are things now?

We had to walk back around the ball to get there. Which was super annoying. All the construction walls are the worst. I can't wait till they are done.

SOOOOOO much! That park was already too much walking without closing the whole middle.

Your snacking around the world looks like tons of fun- I'm jealous! My girls are still at that age where it's all go-go-go for rides or characters, not slowly exploring WS.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Did everyone see the crazines with the last day of Splash Mountain? I am excited for the new Tiana ride! I hope it doesn't take them a million years to get up and running.

But back to this trip report! I still have SIX days left to this report!!! It was a long trip!

Day Seven: Rest Day

Today was a "true" rest day for us. We had no park tickets which is rare for us.

Untitled
This was the plan for the day!

Everyone slept in. But of course sleeping in at Disney isn't that late. Everyone woke up around 8. We are all natural early risers. (Morgan gets up at 5:00 AM for high school this year and has no problem doing so. I on the other hand.... blek way too early)

But we all chilled in bed for a bit more.
Untitled
Gwen chilled in the chair. She claimed it was comfortable but I don't think it was very comfortable.

Untitled
Morgan got the bed to chill.

Untitled
Baby Yoda got a spot in bed, though...

Eventually, Andy and I went down and got breakfast and coffee to bring back up to the room.

We went out the side exit and cut across outside which wasn’t too bad of a walk. It at least felt quicker.

Untitled
At some point I ended up getting that Yacht Club tumbler. I love a good tumbler! And was excitied to see a Yacht Club themed one.

We just got grab and go items, a Pretzel bread egg, ham and cheese sandwiches for the girls and a turkey with onions and peppers sandwich for Andy and I to split. All was good, sorry no pictures. It was also nothing exciting.

I got the refillable cups of coffee and a soda. I was a little too excited that the soda machine here was the freestyle machine. During covid Gwen and I would go and get fountain soda for a "treat". It was a special period in time.

Andy got an iced coffee from the counter. We were able to buy two small cartons of skim milk for the room. We have found that skim milk is hard to come by. They always have creamer and whole milk but usually no skim milk.

We brought the goodies back to the room I went on the balcony and Called my mom and talked with her for a bit. She had back surgery right before we left, so it was good to catch up with her.
Untitled
And the view wasn't too bad!

You can also tell where we were in the resort. My view was basically looking straight at EPCOT and Beach Club. We were literally the farthest away from EPCOT you could be. Well, I guess you could be on the other side of the hallway...

Untitled
Tinkerbell Gifts today were swimsuits for our lazy day.

We finally got ready to head out around 11:00 to do surrey bikes. We came out the side entrance again and was basically at the bridge, so walking over to the surrey bikes wasn’t bad. But once we Walked over to see that they didn’t open till 3:00! UGH!!! Sign officially said 3:00 - 10:00.
Untitled

Gwen was bummed about the Surrey Bikes, she has been asking to do them for a few trips. We decided to do them after dinner, since 3 would be cutting close to dinner. (BAD IDEA)

While walking over we noticed these these signs and weren't sure what they were for.
Untitled

Untitled
Somewhere along the way, I did find out that the signs are part a scavenger hunt at the resort.

So, we walked to mini golf over by the swan and dolphin to try and do that.
Untitled

It was a long walk! I didn't realize how far it would be.
Untitled
We passed the new hotel. Which looked SUPER fancy. We ended up walking a mile, so much for resting!

We finally got to the mini golf to find an hour wait! Sigh. So, we decided to just go back to the hotel.

So we walked back to the room and changed into bathing suits and went to the main pool.
Untitled

Untitled

We swam for about 45 minutes. And then grabbed a light lunch at the quick service by the pool.

I got chicken fingers for Morgan and Gwen to split and a grilled chicken sandwich for Andy and I to split. I usually get the waffle nachos from the bar but the fry machine was down the whole time we were there. Which was very sad. ;(

Chicken fingers were standard along with the chicken sandwich. No complaints about it. Just also nothing worth talking about. They were exactly what you would expect.

I did get my Bourbon Breeze from the bar. There were the same waiters at the bar as our last trip 2 years ago. And they are very Heavy handed on the bourbon! Def more bourbon than mixer.

I made Morgan come with me, she filled the refillable cups with lemonade and I sent her back to the chairs with there chicken fingers and the drink. I went over to order the nachos and found out they didn't have any. So, ended up ordering the chicken sandwich after the fast. So, It ended up being a bit of an ordeal but whatever.

After we ate, Andy and Morgan headed back to the room. Me and Gwen swam a bit more. Gwen and I wanted to do the lazy river and hung out at the water fall for a bit. I think Andy and Morgan started to shower and get ready for our evening plans since we had to take turns.

Gwen went back to the room and I stopped in the gift shop / quick service in Yacht Club.
Untitled
I grabbed that tervis I had seen in the AM. And then a bag of each Carmel Popcorn and Cheddar Popcorn for us to snack on in the room.

I also filled up my refillable Mug. I headed back to the room, showered and relaxed before dinner.

Up next Rest Day Evening Version!
