Are dining reservations just extra difficult to get right now?

My window opens up in a couple weeks so just out of curiousity I've been checking availability at 60 days out. I know I'm not seeing the +days for our onsite stay obviously but options have been extremely limited at 60 days and not just for the stuff you would expect to be sold out.

For example for 4 people for "dinner", the following not available at any time for 60 days from today:

Via Napoli
Teppan Edo
Yak and Yeti
Sci Fi
50's Prime Time

I was obsessively checking before my 60 days out. My reservation date was last Tuesday and I was able to get all you listed for dinner except 50s. My family decided not to dine there this trip. Sci Fi was my second most important one so I reserved that later in the trip on 60 +7 days out. I think that might have helped.

I was shocked to be able to get Steakhouse 71 on my first full day (Sunday after Thanksgiving).

I am going to guess getting Cinderella's table exactly 60 days out for breakfast will be nearly impossible (4 people)?

Sci-Fi used to be very hard to get. It’s gotten much easier. I think people are doing Space220 instead. If they get that ADR, they won’t do both palces. And also Sci-Fi started allowing their system to share availability in the same car, even if different parties.
I honestly don't have any desire for Sci-Fi, but interesting to note, when I went on at 5:00am (CST) for my 60 day window, Sci-FI was not available. I got Ohana, but couldn't touch Sci-Fi if I wanted to. LOL

I wouldn't say that. Today is my 60 day window. I'm 8 hours after bookings opened today. I just checked, while I couldn't get CRT for breakfast on my first day, I went out to day 7 and found breakfast times available. So make sure, if you are on property, that your reservations are linked and set up on MDE and it should allow you to look out past your day 1. That would be your best bet.

Nope, not if you go for earliest possible, depending upon time of year, of course.

We typically get an ADR for two, mid-November, at opening. Rarely see more than a dozen other diners scattered around the room--post-covid reopening, that is. Things may be more how it was before by now--pretty full that early.

Now, if you're talking at a civilized hour, likely a far different story.

Yes, I am having trouble getting 50's Prime Time and Yak and Yeti. I got everything else mostly that I wanted. I still want to modify some times and the party if possible (one breakfast I had to do in 2 pieces).
We got a Landry's card and you are able to book directly with Yak & Yeti with it!

We had a few trips in 2021 and early 2022. Sci-Fi had nothing days 62/63 or even 65. I kept stalking and finally found something near the end of one trip that wasn’t a park close slot. A common discussion back then. It surprised me to see 60 day availability the few times I checked over this summer. There were plenty of different days and times for SciFi when we made our ADRs last month.

There were multiple things happening that made Sci-Fi extremely challenging for a long time after the parks reopened. Bricker touched on this in

”For a while, it was impossible to book certain restaurants as a party of 2. We didn’t eat at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant for almost 2 years because of this.”

Parties of 2 continued to be impossible, but even parties of 4 and 6 had slim pickings and were not having success for a time and day that worked even toward the end of their trips. On the dining threads the last several months that doesn’t seem to be the case any more either. People are regularly getting a spot.

One of the good things about CRT is having to pre-pay. Sounds bad but it actually keeps people from hoarding a bunch then tossing the extras after they finalize plans. Good luck! It’s definitely worth the effort to try.

My reservation day is October 12. Last year it was a fiasco trying to get reservations! I had to fight to get what we had by checking everyday for a couple of months. Also setting alerts and trying to beat other people to it!
I’am not looking forward to the hassle of trying to get this years because we have some of the toughest reservations to get on our list.
We have Ohana dinner, Topolino’s breakfast,Steakhouse 71,and Garden Grill dinner😬. We always eat at Sci Fi so I’m glad it has gotten easier.

We are staying offsite, family members want to get a reservation for it on 12/9 I believe

I had a similar issue this morning for my trip, no dice on Homecomin (outside of 11pm, no thanks) and nothing for Rose and Crown (probably due to Candlelight). I was able to grab Citricios with no issues, but that isn't exactly a hard one even though it was on our list. Bummer waking up for a 545am booking spree and only getting 1/3!
Same exact for Homecomin with me! 11PM only available

Which is one of the busiest times of year. It’s prime time for DVC stays the first two weeks of December.

This year especially, as a bunch of DVC Members need to use points or lose them because they were unable/unwilling to travel until covid became less of a threat.

I think getting ADRs will generally be a struggle for another year or two until things get closer to pre-pandemic ones.

I searched this morning at 60+1 (Dec 2, a Saturday) for 4 and Cinderellas was available to book at least through 9:30am for that day. I couldn’t get any resort character breakfast but was surprised that CRT was available. Best of luck!!!!

Our ADR window opened Monday morning and so far I've got nothing. I quit waking up. We wanted CG the first night for date night. We want Sci-Fi on a HS day (so it's flexible) and Ohana on a slightly less flexible night. Of course we're not in the parks. I'd have been willing to keep the reservation for the ASM suite but resort perks are gone and it's really just not worth it for us to pay just to be able to MAYBE be able to make a couple reservations on the same morning. I made mouse dining alerts. If I get reservations cool. If not, we'll probably skip eating Disney food altogether and bring in sandwiches and lunchables. I'm not feeling kind to Disney at this point.

Our ADR 60 days was yesterday. We started right at 6am and got most of what we wanted (including Victoria & Albert's - yay!). I will say that the website crashed right before 6am and we had to make all reservations from our phones. There were 2 of us working so it made it a bit easier. We also couldn't get some of our choices right at 6 but then came back to them 15-20 minutes later and there were more openings available.

Will Ohana character breakfast be impossible to get at 60+2 the week before Xmas? Trying not to get my kiddos hopes up too much, but we are really hoping it works out.

Even if you don't get ADRs, the app also allows you to join the wait lists for restaurants. I don't know if they hold back a few places for this option or if last minute cancellations create room on the wait list. I was able to wait list for Ohana and get a table in under 10 minutes at 7PM in September. Note that your phone has to be located near the restaurant to do this. I couldn't wait list Ohana until I was actually at the Polynesian.

There were quite a few Biergarten times that were added today. I kept getting error messages trying to book in the app and online, but called in and the rep said they must've just dropped in. She was able to book Dec. 5th for me with no issues.

I have been trying to get Steakhouse 71 for November 30th....without luck....
