The Running Thread -- 2022

August Running:
Total distance: 107 mi
Average pace: 11:23/mi

First triple-digit month since April, and slowest average in a long time too.
@striker1064 I may give you a run for your money on average complaining about the heat. It's relentless (both the heat and my complaining). All this hot running means PRs in the fall, right?? RIGHT?????!!!!

9:01/mi with a HR of only 128 bpm?!? That is seriously impressive to me. Great job! You're clearly putting in the hard work and it shows.
It's all relative. I have a very low resting heart rate and even had a pretty low resting heart rate when I weighed 55 pounds more and never ran. I'm a more senior runner, so my max heart rate is not super high. But thanks, I have been putting in some work.

I'm going to be there with you in Philly in November, so it better!

August Running:
Total distance: 89.9 mi
Average pace: 12:55/mi (12:24 adjusted)

From July to August, I increased my total mileage by almost 50% and improved my same-HR pace by roughly 1 min/mile. I don't plan to repeat that in September, and will be holding at roughly this pace and mileage through my 9/25 HM. But overall, it's been a great month for me!

Don't ever sell yourself short. Your obvious hard work is paying off handsomely. Great job!

August Miles = 151

Really questioning my life choices this month. Back in July, I started training for the Hartford marathon in October with the goal of trying to qualify for Boston. I have not actually registered for the race yet as I wanted to see how the training was going. Well, I slogged through the 14, 15 and 16 mile runs but when I hit 17, I was seriously asking myself “why am I doing this??”

There is no way I am doing the 18, 19 & two 20 mile runs that are on my plan. Between the crazy summer heat and the fact that I have too much going on this time of year, those runs are just not happening.

I may still do the race but just to finish with no time goals as I know I am in good enough shape to do that. Or I may just do the Hartford half and focus on the Disney marathon in January.

January Miles = 139
February Miles = 108
March Miles = 145
April Miles = 115
May Miles = 146
June Miles = 106
July Miles = 137

2022 total miles = 1,047

August Totals:

Running - 95.4 miles
Swimming - 4.7 hours
Dog walking - 23 miles

I haven't been on the boards much lately, but I'm still lurking around. I'm currently marathon training for Chicago and it's going okay. I'm feeling good overall, but I'm having some trouble balancing work/life/training, along with managing a house full of teenagers, and OMG teenage girl drama is the worst! It's so mentally exhausting!! So yeah, I missed a couple of runs this month because I opted for a mental health weekend of drinking & shopping with friends. :)
