My electric bill was $310 last month, and I just looked and that's what it's projected to be this month too!!! I live in a very modest 3 bedroom townhouse and I have never paid an electic bill this high! These price hikes are getting ridiculous, is electic more expensive everywhere?

We just got notice ours was going up, almost 20 percent.

Did yours actually go up or are you or your appliances using more power? (Aging ac unit etc...)

How much do you pay per kWh?

We're also in a 3-bedroom townhouse. Our most recent gas/electric bill was $250. It can go as high as $300 a month if we have a heat wave and the A/C runs continuously. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area where everything is expensive. Luckily, it the summers aren't consistently hot. We get a few heat waves here and there but this week, for example, it's forecast to stay in the 80s with low humidity.

Various throughout the country. Some places that would be high, a lot of others that would be a bargain.
My electric bill to the actual electric company the last 5 months has been $23.05 a month. That is the minimum charge for being hooked into their system.
I have solar panels. My solar bill last month was $180*, so my total electric bill was just over $200 a month for a 2010 square foot house in an area where the weather has been 90-100 degrees in a house kept at 72.

*I have a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) for my solar system. The entire system was free. I have to buy ALL the power my panels make for 20 years at a predetermined price. Any power I don't use is sold to my electric provider at a LOWER predetermined price. So I am drawing power from my electric company at night when my solar panels aren't making power, but I am drawing less power than the surplus I am selling to my utility. If I had purchased my solar panels, I would not have a solar bill, but my system would have cost me $36,000 before tax credits, or about $24,000 after Federal and State tax credits.

the bill says:

the electic costs $0.082683

supply costs $0.069395
and transmission costs $0.024211

those are all per kWh

Supply Charges: $155.46
(name of electric company) Charges: $151.86

I don't have an independent electric supplier, it is the electric company that is supplying my electric but I guess that's what they charge, it's insane that the supply charges are more than the electricity!

my bill from this same period last year was:

Supply Charges: $89.38
(name of electric company) Charges: $105.27

We used 1048 kWhs last month and our bill was $141. That includes all of our taxes and fees (assuming state/fed required) like coal ash, clean energy projects, etc. I have not noticed an increase. At least not significant. We are east coast with Dominion.

Total bill last service period was $108 for gas and electric. Upstate NY here.

Mine was $260 last month and projected to be about $20 higher this month. We're in the middle of a crazy heat wave so it isn't surprising.

Rookie numbers. My condo in Hawaii had a typical electric bill of $450 in June/July. When I was renting it out, one family managed to generate a $800 electric bill in March! The cheapest I ever saw was about $280 in January. One of the many reasons why I no longer own a condo in Hawaii. 🌈

I actually noticed that my bill was on average higher for the past year and a half compared to previous years.

I am on a budget bill.

$281 a month year round.

My last actual usage was $354 for 2823 kWh. About 12 cents per kWh including all minimum charges, fees, and taxes.
One year ago it was $316 for 2448 kWh. About 12 cents per kWh including all minimum charges, fees, and taxes.

In my case there has not been a rate increase, just an increase in usage.

Wow. Wish I was that fortunate. We are now experiencing at least double! Add gas and food prices…I am numb :faint:

we pay 0.068 per kwh plus a flat $24.55 per month service availability charge. i feel tremendously fortunate to live in a region served a non profit consumer owned electric cooperative. i use about the same amount of power but pay less than i was paying in the 1990's in california, when my brother (who is very usage conscious) talks of his over $400 per month summer bills i just :crazy2:

Electric jumped for us too, which is most noticeable when I look back at cost v usage, irksome that delivery cost is 44% of supply, so it's a lot.

Our bill has been a tad lower this year so far, but that's because it's been cooler so less AC. No price hikes yet, but we're expecting one eventually.

Our last bill was $124. We have a small house with gas appliances. It’s always high like that in the summer when the pool filter is running. Plus we have a dehumidifier running in the basement. Come September it should drop considerably.
