Is Navi River worth it?

I thought that we went in Navi River Journey when we went to WDW last time but online it says that the ride opened in 2017 so I guess we didn't. The last time we were there was in 2008. We are going this year at the end of August. What is the big deal about the ride? The videos look kinda boring to me. Do I need to have seen an Avatar movie or something in order to enjoy the ride? What do you like about it?

It's cute but too short. You don't really have to have seen the movie to understand. I don't think many of the things in the movie are in the ride. Plus, the ride is a little weird. If the wait is short, <=20 minutes, then do it; otherwise, I wouldn't bother. If you are doing Flight of Passage early in the morning, Navi usually has a short wait then.

DD20 is an Avatar fan and adores NRJ. I'd say watch some of the movie clips, listen to some of the songs esp. Becoming One of the People, then close your eyes and imagine a transcendental vision of pangalactic unspoiled nature. If that appeals to you then you'll like NRJ. A ride that Disney does right.

Personally I love it. Nice and relaxing, great visuals, nice music, and probably the most impressive technically sophisticated animatronic figure Disney has ever created.

I am trying to decide if it is worth the wait in line. I thought it was normally a long wait but maybe not.
It can be very long. Early in the morning or right before closing are. It’s not add so long as Flight of Passage, but it’s usually the 2nd longest wait in the park.

If the wait isn't too long, its a nice ride. Very short, but has some very nice effects in it.
30 minutes would be the max I would wait, and thats pushing it.

I like the ride but would only wait about 20 minutes or less. Our recent strategy has been to buy FOP ILL and then do Navi right at rope drop. Our last two times in Oct and Jan it was a walk on for pretty much the first 20 minutes or so of EMM as everyone tends to run to get in line for FOP.

I think the wait is for the AC, and also just because AK has so few rides. I've never really seen the movie, and I'm not sure it had any story at all. It was like a big blacklight ride with some cool effects, like Nemo. Just go on Nemo, wait will be shorter, music will be better.

I think amateurs don't know how much is at AK if it doesn't show a wait time in the app. I'd prioritize anything else over it, even the bird show or the lion king show, or watching the dancers, or the Rafiki animal trail.

Nobody can really answer that for you because only you can decide if a wait is "worth" it to you. I think the responses here are accurate. It is a very pretty, short ride. I lump this ride in with all the other attractions I call storybook rides. It gives you a tatse of the story or the movie or IP that its based on (like multiple rides in Fantasyland) while moving along at a slow pace. If you like those rides, then you will probably like this one.

And FYI, as you seem to acknowledge, you defintiey didn't ride this attraction in 2008. Not only was the rude not yet built, but the movie its based on hadn't even come out yet, lol. I'm curious what you're remembering from that trip. maybe Kali River Rapids?

Absolutely worth a ride. It's a slow, beautiful trip through Pandora. But I wouldn't wait more than 60 minutes for it.

Worth a ride, but not worth any wait in line (certainly not over 10 minutes). We originally waited 30-40 minutes for it and felt it was a poor use of time.

I mean to be honest you need to ride it at least once in your life. Even with long lines I feel like every attraction should be checked off. Then in the future you will know for yourself. Personally the first time I rode it it was pretty neat. The second time it wasn't neat enough to endure a long wait (although I did anyways). But I always feel like I shouldn't miss anything each trip.
