Magic Band order issues- my order was cancelled?

Hi there! I selected Magic Bands online for our party of six for our upcoming May trip a few weeks ago and was super excited to get a bunch of limited edition ones at pre-arrival prices (we are staying on site)
Unfortunately Disney apparently cancelled the order...I guess they ran out of some/all of them? There's no longer any link to purchase any or select new ones and it just says "manage magic bands or cards" and then shows the old magic bands that 4/6 of us had on a trip several years ago. Two members of the party don't even have bands selected now...
I'm not sure whether to just give up since Magic Bands are no longer required and just use our phones? We would have liked to order some special ones but it kind of seems like Disney is actively phasing out the old ones right before they unveil the new Magic Band+ system. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any ideas about what to do?

This is pretty typical anymore, sorry to say.

Yeah, they likely sold out very fast.

I'd suggest waiting till you get there to buy MBs. Much more variety, and the CM cashier may ask if you'd like them to activate it for you.

Lots of the shops have solid colors, patterns and special editions.

But what about the prearrival discount?? Party of 6 means savings of at least $60

Yes, you can definitely use MBs from past trips.

If more than 2 years old, they may not get in-ride photos or videos but will do everything else such as unlock room, charge purchases to room, etc.

Can. You use old ones from previous trips?
We still have bands for 4 of us but they were from 4 years ago so sounds like we'll lose some functionality... Plus we still need to get bands for the other two family members who are joining us. I'm thinking we'll end up buying at the resort when we check-in but I'm bummed that we'll lose out on the pre-arrival discount...

I assume you probably won't get your names engraved on them this way? Not a big issue but might have been nice,
I suspect we'll be doing this though, it seems very difficult to order in advance now
Thanks for your reply :)

Have you tried using chat on the website? Worth a shot even if it may take a couple hours before you're connected with an agent.

You're totally right! Might be a long haul but I think I'll try this weekend, buying at the resort can be the back-up plan :)

Exactly. If you wait and buy them on site, you lose the pre-arrival discount. I hate to say this, but maybe call and ask if you can order other bands? I do know in the past the FD had extra plain Magic Bands, perhaps when you check in you could ask?

Did you get any notice of any sort regarding the order being cancelled? Wondered if you did, if there was any sort of contact info on the email?

If not, I wonder if the tech support option could do anything to "turn back on" the purchase option for those who still need bands? That is usually a shorter wait time.

They aren't so much phasing out bands yet as they are going in and out of stock frequently. One day there will be 20 and the next 2, next 30, next 10, so forth and so on. It's really nuts. If they were really phasing them out, they wouldn't keep coming back in stock. I'm afraid for now, there's just no word on when + bands will launch.

Just tossing a couple of ideas out there because that's horribly annoying without a doubt.

We only got an email- going to try contacting them and see if we can reorder the original ones/swap whichever there is no stock for I think!

We had to go off what was currently listed online when we reordered. My one daughter was so disappointed because she had a pink sparkly one. However ours have now arrived so our second order went through without issue.

anyone else experience this lately? Ordered last Friday and received email today saying all three of my Bands are not available. Not sure if it is even worth it at this point, but kids were excited to pick them out themselves. Here was the email message

“Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand and limited availability, the order was cancelled. You will not be charged for this order.”

This is commonplace anymore, sad to say.

I suggest waiting till you get there and then shopping for MBs. There'll be a variety in shops that carry them.
Then you would lose the prepurchase discount, right?

When they cancel the order, can you re-order with the prepurchase discount or does it block you because you already placed an order? I believe you only get one order.

I read a report of someone contacting IT/Guest services and they were able to have the order re-set

Some of them are pre-arrival exclusive, including (in my opinion) the best 50th Anniversary ones.

Yes, I'm aware of that but chose to reply generally since the OP didn't mention having ordered exclusives.

Maybe I'm just not that thrilled by exclusive-special edition-The Very Best MB Ever, etc.

A color or design I can live with even though not my first choice, I'm good to go.

Mileage on MBs varies, doubtless.
