Disney, if you are reading this, get Genie+ out now! Seriously, you can't have the parks this crowded without something!

Seriously!

Does not speak well of Disney not being able to get this done already, especially when it launched in WDW awhile ago.

If Disney can’t execute this in a timely manner which it hasn’t, then it creates bigger questions in my mind of management’s competency.

Clearly it's not that simple for them to rollout at Dland or they would have already.

So does Disney not have the capability to get “non-simple” things done in a timely manner?

If so, I’m not sure that is much better, and besides, it got done in WDW.

If only the parks had been closed for a year or so and IT people had time to dedicate to this…

Many IT people quit because they would have had to relocate from CA to FL. I’m guessing more people quit than Disney bargained for

Somehow they were able to get it done in WDW. I’m just saying that all companies had to adjust and many executed far better.

The risk is not today when pent up demand exists, but when people have a poor AND expensive experience and what that will do for future demand.

Won't be going back without a working fastpass system. Our October trip was one of the least enjoyable due to the crowds/wait times. Operative word here is working. Reading reports from Florida that on busy days, the lightening lanes are booking up far quicker than fastpass ever did. Even ffor the lower demand rides. Will need to wait for Genie to be released and all the bugs/capacity issues worked out.

I’m beginning to wonder if our trip over Christmas will be worth it if Genie+ isn’t released…the lines might be historically bad.

Started at WDW on October 19th. They already discovered a "loophole" people were taking advantage of and have corrected it. They said at the investor call on November 10th that it will be very soon for DL.

We are here now, and yesterday was actually pretty good. Except for Web Slingers and ROTR, lines were generally under 30 mins. Rode Haunted at 530p, maybe 20 mins? We walked by Pirates, the line was inside the bridge. Maybe everyone is staying away while waiting for Genie+ and it is keeping the wait times lower.... (Web Slingers line was stated to be 120 mins, but looked to be the same length when we would get a BG and have the line entering at the scan point.)

Agreed, I find the standby lines to be totally doable on every ride post fast pass. The longest I’ve waited for a ride since reopening was like 50 minutes for radiator springs earlier this month.

I’m starting to think that fast pass did more evil than good. I’m more than happy with there not being a line skip option, free or otherwise (outside of DAS obviously, I’m not a monster.)

Also, the parks foot traffic is back up to pre pandemic levels, that would only get worse with alternatives to a standby line.

Here now. You definitely have to pack your patience.

I definitely miss MaxPass. I would’ve even taken G+ as the subpar alternative. However, the problem the last few days along with long lines is how much rides are down. RSR has been down since last night — doubtful it’s going back. Now GOTG is down. 2 major attractions out which causes all the other lines to increase. Pool day it will be I guess. 🤨 😕

Haven't had issues with ride times. We're with ok waiting 30mins -ish and don't expect walk on when we go to the Parks this time of year. Was there yesterday for a few hours. Didn't wait over 30 mins. Went on Mansion, Pirates, Space and Big Thunder. Definitely curious about Genie+. May use for RoT.

Here's a must-see video: Disney's FastPass: A Complicated History by Defunctland on YouTube. I tried to include a link to the video, but I guess that's not allowed on the board.

Just watched this video and it's very informative. Kinda makes you realize why people on the WDW side are so mad about G+ (kidding, sort of).

One thing that might save DLR some headache that WDW is experiencing is the amount of rides in each park. You would think that since we have more attractions per park, our LL would sell out slower. However, the amount of people per park is higher so it might be moot. I am (cautiously) optimistic that G+/ILL$ will fare better for us than at WDW. We are going for NYE and we purposely booked a cheaper hotel (PPH vs. GCH) after factoring in the cost of G+ ($100/day + ILL$$) so I'm really hoping that it's out by then. DH said worst case scenario if it's not out, we just saved $500. I told him that's no fun, if I'm giving up GCH, I want something in return :rotfl2:

I do wonder how they are going to implement, along with MB coming to DLR too. Are they replacing DL app wholesale and make into MDE vs replacing DL code for the Genie+ and MB capabilities?

There are subtle, but clear differences between how the apps work at the UX level and by extension I bet the coding has differences too-- so there's going to be issues that need sorting out.

Rolling out new app tech on heavy holiday week -- even 1-2 weeks prior probably not the smartest.

If they don't rollout Dec 1-10, then don't expect it until Jan 2022.

This!! What’s going on?? Rope dropped for Space. One of the first cars to go. Lights on, ride stopped, had to be escorted off which felt like forever when you’re whole plan was to get in/get out…get to more rides! Space had braking problems, btw.

When we finally exited, Alice, Snow White, Big Thunder and Matterhorn were down. Then DD and DH got stuck on Pinnochio immediately after(again full shift down, lights on, escorted off)!

Haven’t seen RSR operational at all today.

Without FP, MP, or at least Genie+ PLUS the shutdowns, it’s creating havoc as everyone races for whatever else is open.

And the wait times on the app cannot be trusted at all. It’s taking forever for CMs to update and adjust times, which creates huge backlogs because people believe the posted wait times and race to get “whatever” for a 25-30min wait.

And aside from the complete shutdowns, I’ve been surprised at all the non-functioning parts of rides this visit. Two standouts were Ariel and Indy. So many “dark” parts. Not what I’m used to at all.

We are still happy to be here and having a wonderful family holiday, but with this kind of experience, it really should be at half the price, IMO. Definitely won’t come back until Genie+ has completely rolled.

What I get for assuming it would be out by Holiday. Cause when you assume…😆
