New Disney World AP Pay and get less?

Did anyone else look into the Water Park and Sports add on? Am I reading this right? $99 with give you access to all (water parks, midget golf, etc.), but only one day each?!? I'm only interested in adding the water parks... Guessing there is no longer a water park annual pass option 😮 😥

The wording is a little wonky, but all the "one admission" in the blurb about the water parks and sports option means is that it is only for the passholder, not for any guests. I did read somewhere that it's only one mini-golf round per day, but that seems to be the only limitation.

where is that stated?
i thought you need photopass for everyone in the group so that attraction photos are included.
With the old system I was the only one with gold in my family and was the designated downloader if people on my friends/family list went without me present
Disappointed there's no Genie+ included but I'm not surprised. No photo pass, no integrated Genie+. I guess the park reservation system is due to covid (seemingly at least), but I really am beginning to wonder if it will be a permanent change.
I wouldn’t be shocked if down the line there was a genie+ add on
With ticket prices what they are, I honestly can't wait to start using my AKV as a "home base" for spring training. I know it's an hour drive to Publix Field, but still...with what Disney is charging, I can take a nice drive to Florida from Michigan, stay for 3-4 nights at AKV and see a few Detroit Tigers spring training games while getting out of the Michigan cold for a while...without giving Chapek an additional dime!
You must have the patience of a saint to endure multiple I4 round trips on a vacation
From what I understand as of September 21 the Memory maker option won't be available on your pass because it will switch over to the new system! I was told that it wouldn't be on my new pass...I currently have the Platinum and when they switch over to the new passes no memory maker/photo pass will be included. I'd check with a CM if I were you. :flower1:
That’s conflicting information from what I heard … I heard if you are a current Gold/Platinum or renew by the 7th you’d keep benefits until pass renewal

I really wouldn’t like to have to $$ for race weekend photopass when I’m a gold AP until April….

now it’s making me wonder if blackouts will convert as most of my other family members are silver and if they automatically get pirate’s blackouts by default our park day for my birthday weekend is gone

Have current passholders received emails regarding the new/changed benefits passes? My extended family are sitting on a dozen silver AP vouchers that we haven’t activated yet and have not received any notification. We’ve been waiting for things to get restarted and for covid to subside further before making our next trip. So it definitely won’t be before the September 8 date referenced in some posts. The voucher says good till 2099. So what happens to them? I suppose I need to call but thought maybe I would get an email explaining options.

My Silver pass expires in November 4th which means i should be able to upgrade 60 days prior which would put me at the window prior to this rollout.

What would be the benefit of me renewing prior? I'm subject to the old blockout dates but still get the upgrade to 4 reservations at a time that Pirate gets?

I got an email this am that basically said I’d be able to get one of the new passes upon renewal and in the meantime I’d be getting a magnet and more rolling reservations

Via what a reliable theme park journalist said if you have a voucher if you visit before 9/7 you will retain that pass that the voucher is for if not your pass voucher will change to the comparable tier (silver to pirate/gold to sorcerer/platinum to incredi)

I basically have a voucher for the platinum, and will be visiting on 9/7. I was wondering how the ticket would be accommodated when I go.

I purchased a Platinum voucher before the price increased in 2019 specifically for use in 2021/22 for the 50th. I will not be going this year as things other than covid have happened. I suspect as a non Florida resident that the exchange would be to Incredipass level. I will be upset if they do not include the photo pass but will still come out ahead of today’s pricing if that’s the only added price once I do go to redeem it. Once I do get to use it,I will be through with Disney World for a good long while. Even if I wasn’t upset with change it really is just too overwhelming. And it’s not just Disney-it’s everywhere. I’m going to focus on making my home a safe retreat for my sanity 😂

Don’t many of these things apply to DL too?? Housekeeping, Park Reservations, genie, paying for some rides, restricted park hopping, no dining plan, getting up at 7 & being spontaneous seem like they’d be the same at both DL & WDW. I know pictures are included at DL, but the unlimited pass is $100 more there, so that seems like a wash. I admit I haven’t kept up with DL news, so I may be totally off. Just wondering why these things are so upsetting at WDW but not at DL?

Actually I just bought the Dream Magic Key (top tier for DL) and it doesn't include anything except parking. They don't even have an add on option so the only way to get photos is to pay $20/day. So while I'm bummed they took out the included PhotoPass for WDW, I guess I'm okay paying the $99 to add on because WDW does have better magic shots with zoom and 360 photos. I live in LA so Dland is my local park and I guess I'm just glad I can finally go regularly again even with all the changes. But I just bought into DVC this past year and with all these money grab changes I can't help but feel a bit trapped. I think I would be okay not going to WDW anymore if I wasn't tied in with DVC. So now I either suck it up and pay more for a vacation that's losing it's value or may be look into selling my DVC. I don't know how the other poster felt but for me the accumulation of all the negative changes at WDW just feels worse compared to DLR.

Not sure if this was posted but thought it would be useful information.

That just seemed so absolutely wrong to me that those of us who have vouchers would just lose what we paid for so I checked the source. There was more she said about vouchers in a subsequent tweet:

"a note to current WDW annual passholders: if you have a renewal “certificate”, aka your expiration date is something like 2030, you will be transferred into the new program if you do not activate your pass by Sept. 7"

"any features you currently have (i.e. PhotoPass, Water Parks + Sports) will be added on for free."

I hope she's right and can't imagine that isn't exactly what will happen. We paid for an AP with specific benefits. We should get what we paid for.

Here is what i do not understand...under Chapek we have seen Disney charge more and give less, and he is going to get away with it if people continue to go and pay his prices. The only way to get your voice heard is to write and complain, or get some sort of petition to get him out, go elsewhere on vacation instead of Disney. Universal is looking really good right now. And why all the cheesy names? why not just stay with Gold, Silver and Premier?

So if my family has gold pass renewal exchanges that expire 2099 that we got in July, it’ll change to sorcerer’s? If that’s the case, that sucks since we already had plans to go over thanksgiving weekend and the following week, and can’t activate before the Sept 7 date since we’re all in quarantine.

Bob Chapek does not sit in his office, ruling with absolute authority, and coming up with every change the company makes. He's the patsy chosen to reveal those changes because he has a punchable face. And it appears to be working.

We are in a similar situation with our silver vouchers. We purchased them for the specific benefits that work for us and are not planning any trips in the near future. We don’t want to go in the summer so removing those blackouts are worthless but we usually do travel around some of the new scattered pirate year round blackout dates. If I get stuck with pirate instead of silver blackouts, this will definitely be my last AP.
I already have the sea world/Busch gardens platinum that we have had for years and will probably just get universal instead of Disney in the future.

I think that Twitter poster is wrong. Others have said Disney is going to honor what we actually bought. They’re different products and no reason they can’t activate the gold with the gold dates and photo pass.

I've had AP for about 10 years now. I have never used the Photopass. I did look at them on my MDE. I wonder if Disney researched how many AP'ers did use it.
I would be happy if I could buy 1 or 2 Magic Shot(Don't know if that's the right name) pictures.
