CONFIRMED Rumor: Disney World no longer transferring refrigerated goods between resorts

What DOES Disney still do for its loyal customers ? Seems like they just keep taking away services and increasing the prices

It seems like Disney is determined to see just how much they can squeeze out of customers before their revenue starts dropping.

In truth this move is probably more of a liability concern than anything else, if Disney was moving refrigerated goods for several hours in an un-refrigerated truck (which is what it sounds like was happening) - this was probably a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree with you though, someone in Disney corporate is probably justifying other moves as helping to reduce crowds, after all their only solution at crowd control seems to be raising prices to price out more and more people. Either that or the pandemic will be their reason for removing as many perks as possible - none of which will ever return after the pandemic is long gone.

Ironically, they've figured out an easy way to control crowds without raising prices - and that is using the Disney Park Pass, which Disney is determined to continue using but while still raising prices and capping crowds at higher and higher levels.

We as customers are the only ones who can help prevent this by choosing not to spend our money with Disney, it ultimately is supply and demand. Disney will continue to raise prices so long as demand remains high.

I recently heard a report from another guest that Bell Services has said they will not move any groceries that are loose, like a case of water despite it not being perishable. You can obviously dump the groceries into your luggage, but just be prepared. I'm planning to bring a large duffel bag which takes up very little space in our luggage and will throw clothes in that and put the food into our regular luggage if we need the space.
So they won’t transfer water bottle cases anymore? Now that’s just cheap!

I get the cold transport thing- especially if the report they’ve been driving everyone’s stuff around in an unrefrigerated van for up to a couple hours is accurate! But no water bottle cases is just cheap. Hopefully that was a one-off incident and not a new policy.

Agreed - since the policy is new, it may be getting implemented inconsistently right now - and while the official policy seems to be no perishable goods / medicines - I'd also recommend being prepared just in case!

I can see not transporting an open case of water. Maybe box it, put it in.a suitcase or bring duck tape/packing tape and seal it up

Can't you see water bottles from an open case rolling around in the trunk.

I don't know the details of what occurred, but it seemed like the bell services CM was saying no groceries what-so-ever, so like a case of water - even if it was fully sealed and easy to transport (no rolling around) - would not be allowed unless it was inside luggage.

Again this could have been a misunderstanding by this CM on the new rules too.

Disney generally charges a fee when bell services deliver grocery items to your room.
There is some logic in charging or not delivering grocery items from resort.to resort

Honestly with all the things Disney has eliminated, this one doesnt bother me. I am actually surprised they did this in the first place. I can see too much liability with meds and perishables.. Seeing the heat in FL. They are a resort, not a transport company that needs to guarenteed cool items stay cool. I come from a cargo background where this is a big issue with goods. That Disney would even pro-activity offer this, surprises me.

Okay, so let me pose this question.

I have a split stay between Pop and Yacht Club. I’d really rather not have to take an Uber XL to switch resorts. Having Disney transfer the bulk of my luggage would be optimal. However, we would be going from Pop to Yacht Club via the Skyliner.

My question is would they even allow us on the Skyliner if we had bags with us? I’m not talking about luggage. More like tote bags with bottled water and groceries. I can’t imagine we’ll even have that much. I could always make two smaller Instacart orders at the start of each leg of the trip.

I would go with two smaller instacart orders... make life simpler...

First off I can see why Disney would cut this out, if they have.

Really its not their responsibility to move your stuff this is simply a courtesy's. As well with all the problems with covid - less people touching your drinks and snacks could be another reason... then throw in the heat and humidity ... roll all this together and you could have some serious issues...

For me I know if we change resorts or whatever, we use uber to move, this way you have your stuff, your not waiting on your stuff, and you know it all makes it to the next stop. Which for a few bucks gets you some peace of mind...

Plus the fact of tipping to transport the groceries.

We try not to have tons to switch, but sometimes it's hard to gauge. We do bring mailing tape to seal any water cases or soda can cases.

I’m leaning toward just taking an Uber XL for our switch day anyway. That way, we don’t have to wait for our stuff.

I think the increase in split stays may have played a role as well, not to mention that all Disney hotel rooms now have minifridges or beverage coolers so that many more guests are storing perishables than in years long past.

Plus it's so much easier to order groceries than in the past.

Transferred cold cuts, soy milk, cheeses, yogurts etc from GF to Riveria on July 5, 2021. No issues. Service was fantastic.

I think what might be contributing to the problem is that because of the points glut, there are more split stays than normal. I can’t tell you how many times I have read recently that someone was able to piece together a reservation but it required multiple resorts. More luggage and longer delivery times is a bad combination for items that have to be kept cold. I honestly don’t have a problem with this change. It probably should have been done a long time ago.

They’ll still transfer luggage, but they’re being honest in saying they can’t keep your cold or frozen things at proper temperatures so won’t take that responsibility anymore. I think that’s reasonable.
I respect your opinion but disagree for our Disney travel group. We stayed four days at GF and had a food delivery day one. Food was in an insulated bag. Split stayed to Riveria. The bell service was very gracious at GF and took our refrigerated food in same bag in which it was delievered along with our luggage and forwarded to the Riveria bell service. Worked great and we were very appreciative. (We have done on several split stays between CR and GF several times in the past too.) However, knowing this service is cancelled we will start taking our wine cruiser which is an insulated piece of luggage. For us problem solved other than wrangling another piece of luggage. (Same as dealing with no Magic Express, no fast passes, no menues, insufficient employees and limited hours, no tours, limited room service etc etc.) Upside: No more bag searches and fingerprints to get into parks meaning no waiting. Seems like the metal detectors are doing a good job.
