Disney Requiring All Non-Union Cast Members to be Vaccinated

We aren’t in Disney World, but are DVC members and staying at Disney’s Vero Beach resort right now. As of this morning, masks were required in all indoor, public areas. Compliance seems pretty good here so far.

I wouldn’t expect much less in all honesty. People don’t generally jeopardize a major financial penalty. Masks for everyone means they want you to wear a mask. Masks for non-vaccinated only translates into nobody cares.

Isn't Florida a right to work state? Under those rules couldn't they say that you don't have to provide proof of vaccination but we refuse to continue your employment if you don't.

I think you mean an employment-at-will state (right-to-work laws are about unionization; in a right-to-work state you can't be forced to join a union in order to keep your job.)

They could also set termination as the penalty for falsifying the question on any work-related document; lying on an application (about ANYTHING) is typically grounds for termination in an employment-at-will state.

This isn't a WDW or even a Disney Parks policy. I'm not sure if "Cast Member" is the right way to say it, because I don't think Disney employees outside of retail and Disney Parks are considered CMs. This is a Walt Disney Company policy and I believe will apply to every nonunion employee across all divisions, including ABC and ESPN. They're working on negotiations to try to apply this to union workers.

“At the Walt Disney Co., the safety and well-being of our employees during the pandemic has been and continues to be a top priority,” the company said in a statement introducing its mandate that “all salaried and nonunion hourly employees in the U.S. working at any of our sites be fully vaccinated.”
The Burbank entertainment giant said it has begun negotiations with union officials representing its bargaining unit employees. The company’s goal is to extend the vaccination policy to cover those employees, which include many of its theme park workers and some members of movie and television production crews.
The more stringent policy is “based on the latest recommendations of scientists, health officials and our own medical professionals that the COVID-19 vaccine provides the best protection against severe infection,” Disney said in the statement.
Disney employs more than 200,000 workers worldwide.

They were required when we were there in June on boats and the ferries.
Was it in early June before they changed the rules? Once they lifted masks pretty much everywhere, they were only required on bus, monorail, and skyliner. And those are the only transportation they are still required on.

Yes, beginning of June. However, the same mask policy that was in place then has been reinstated as of yesterday. Masks are required on all forms of transportation.

Incorrect. It specifically states it on the Disney site.

All indoor theaters, including theater entrances
All transportation except ferry boats, including transportation entrances

Not really about the vaccines but a friend of mine will be going to WDW this October and has already been advised that WDW will be going back to mask mandates. I really don't care one way or another just saying what she told me this morning. If I'm wrong please correct me so I can let her know otherwise.
Yes. WDW (and DLR too) are bringing back an indoor mask mandate for everyone 2 and up. Said mandate also remains in effect for but is not limited to the monorail, the skyliner, and busses.

This says "Ferry Boats" not boats.

When we boarded the ferry from the TTC to MK, the CM asked guests to put their masks on.

When we took a boat from MK to WL and later in the trip from MK to GF, we were told to wear our masks. On the boat from FL back to MK, a teenaged boy and his father took their masks off when they got on the boat. The captain told them they had to wear them or get off the boat. They got off the boat.

I can see if they allow people to go maskless on the ferry but not regular boats. Most of the boat seats are inside.

It is literally the same thing. The boat from TTC to MK is a ferry boat. The rules right now are not the same as they were in early June.

Another direct quote from the site:
"Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) while indoors and in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. "

I know it's the same thing. That's what I was pointing out.

They may not be required on the ferry, but they are required on the boats from the resorts to the MK. We also had to wear them from Epcot to the Beach Club.

My point is, people need to be aware that the ferry boat is not the same as a boat. They may not require them now on the ferry (which I said in the post you quoted), but they have to wear them on other boats because they're enclosed. People are going to see boat and not connect it with "ferry".

They are not required on boats either, sorry. There is only one single ferry on property, why would it be plural? The wording for transportation has not changed since mid-June, so the rules are still exactly the same for transportation as they were last week, where masks were not required on the water taxis.

Per the other quote, only required on bus/monorail/skyliner. Same as before.
