Sandals for wide-ish feet and achilles issue - suggestions?

Lots of suggestions for Tevas above. Does anybody know how wide they are? I've been avoiding them because I need a wide width and they don't offer that as far as I can tell.

I have princess feet. Plantar fascitis and blister easily. I go between rainbow flip flops, vionics sneakers and clarks salie spin. They are discontinued but zappos has them I use lots of moleskin on hot spots and was able to walk 10_15 miles a day last trip.

I also have wide feet and just foot problems in general…swelling etc. I got these skechers sandals…they have “yoga mat” soles, plenty of support come in wide sizes with adjustable straps. I wore them to Disney in 2019 and on a European cruise with tons of walking…no pain no blisters. Just bought my second pair for F&W festival!!
I tried these on over the weekend, and seriously considered them...just thought they were a tiny bit too narrow for my duck feet.

I have wide feet with high arches and a tendency towards plantar fascitis. Definitely look at Aetrex sandals. In particular, look for the styles with adjustable straps (accommodates wide feet well) and the thicker cushioned cork looking soles.

The Jillian style is the closest current style to the ones I wear but there are several that should work. The sandals are lightweight, but supportive and fairly cute. Aetex are my go-to "touring" sandals.

I have wide feet, short Achilles, and tarsal tunnel in one foot. I have had bad PF in the past, ruptured my fascia during PT of all times and places. At any rate, I believe in good foot care.

I wear chacos for park touring. I used to wear keens and I don’t get enough support in them for all day, although I do love keens. When we break midday I switch to burkies. If we go back to the parks I might go back in my oldest pair of Birk’s if it seems the rain has mostly past but they are my oldest pair and have seen sone weather (I’ve had them since 1994.)

I use body glide and moleskin to help with hot spots and we all soak our feet at night in epsom salt. This trip, our camper doesn’t have a tub so I’m looking for epsom cream instead.

I think you have to find what works well for your feet, switch out when you need to, and just take good care. Stay hydrated. Put your feet up when you can. And gave an amazing time!!

If you are talking about the Kaydee flip flop, I feel your pain. I can find them if I search very hard, and the Kaydee 2 are so freaking narrow, along with almost all their styles! I

I have a high arch, wide feet and a narrow heel, but not AT. One thing I have found for arch support is arch support sleeves that are elastic. They can be used to augment shoes that fit the other criteria, but aren't quite there. I get mine on Amazon.

I have wide feet and have not been able to ever find a pair I can wear (womens or mens).

Most of the problem is that even with adjustable strap sandals, is that you might be able to make them go over your feet by adjusting straps but the sole of the shoe and where the straps connect will remain the same no mater how much you adjust the straps.

Unless I start with a x-wide sole I just cannot adjust a strap enough to wear without pressure points on the side of my feet/toes.

If you need a good heel, most sandals won't have that for you. I agree with the running shoes.

No shoe recommendations, OP, but just want to say I feel your pain. I've already had achilles reconstruction surgery on my left, and the tendonitis in my right is getting terrible. We were at Disney a couple of weeks ago, and the pain was about unbearable. Of course, recovery from that horrible surgery was even worse, so I just plan to continue putting up with the pain as long as I can.

Gotcha! Thanks for the reply. That's why I was asking. I've tried regular width sandals that other people recommended for wide feet and the soles weren't wide enough and the straps ended up cutting in or chafing. Trying to find a good walking sandal in a wide width that is also waterproof is very difficult!

Thanks, Disney is a serious challenge with AT! I wish you all the best!!

Bring a rubbermaid dishpan - has worked for me in a pinch! Thanks for the Chaco's feedback - I had been wondering about them - will go try some on.

I have very similar issues. I prefer Birkenstock’s for sandals, especially the ones with the soft foot bed. Opt for the Birki-flor upper. Suede could get ruined if you are in the rain.

Bernie Mevs. They come in different styles- I typically wear the comfi, or cuddly in the parks, but I have also worn the Cindy sandals. My DD prefers the styles that have a bit higher wedge heel and she can walk all day in those. Because they stretch they will conform to your foot. You need to break them in a day before you wear them all day in the parks. I've been wearing them in the parks for years- they are lightweight so they won't weigh down or tire out your feet. I use body glide on my feet and I have never had a blister in the parks since I started doing that and wearing Bernie Mevs. I also have a wide foot-- no pointy toe shoes for me- I can't ever get my foot in them. I've tried on Teva, Chaco's and Keen and I find them horribly uncomfortable when I try them on- so I have never bought a pair. I can go from open to close in Bernie Mevs without issue. I would recommend something with straps on the top- not the Catwalk style. DD has a wide foot and a narrow heel. DD and I both walk right out of those- especially after they have stretched a bit. If you have a narrow heel- those probably aren't the style for you.

Do y'all wear sandals to the park? All day? Seems a silly question, but I would think sneakers were more comfortable for parks

TEVA Hurricanes all the way. Specifically those. My family didn't like the looks of them so they bought other TEVAs and still got blisters and had pain. They now all have Hurricanes.
