What is your opinion on the United Kingdom?

To me, "foodie" is the equivalent American word for "gourmet". I interpret it as implying a level of elitism, with heavy emphasis on the glory of the "aquired taste."

I grew up in South Louisiana, where just about everyone lives to eat. There really isn't a single word used there to describe someone who just loves food in general, because that's the universal norm.

I think a foodie is more like a gourmand than a gourmet.

I don't know what any of my neighbors do for a living. All I know is that most of them have the power of "mailbox" super speed. Oh and diving under their garage doors when someone looks at them. I have only interacted with some of them while mowing, and that only consists of an awkward wave which only happens because you accidentally lock eyes.

Golf carts, they just passed a law that allows residents to drive them down the roads. And yes I find it annoying going 5mph behind them.

Wedding: we flew to Pittsburgh for my brothers wedding (about 1200 miles)

Funeral: about a 3 hour drive for my husbands uncle.

The only time I tried Corona was when I grabbed what I thought was a cider from the fridge and took a swig. It's particularly nasty when you're expecting Stella cider and you get Corona.

I don't know if this counts but I once had a Christmas tree fall off while going down the road.
This happened to us too! Broke the luggage rack right off the roof of the car.

As far as driving away with something on my roof...multiple insulated mugs. I would set the mug on top of the car and get DS into his car seat, get my purse, lunch bag, etc in the car, get in and drive away.

About 450 miles for each. (DH's extended family lives in another state. We've been for weddings, funerals, retirement parties, etc.)

My family is spread across the whole US, and I don't live in the area where I grew up anymore either. So, a long distance for both. Never internationally though. I don't understand the appeal of destination weddings. I would prefer to plan my own vacation, thank you. Maybe if my best friend ever gets married and decides to do that I would consider attending, or one of my own kids someday, but otherwise, I would decline.
Ours weren't destination weddings. Nephew had lived in France for 10 years when he married a French woman; niece lives in London and is marrying a Brit. We enjoyed France and are looking forward to England.
