Do we have some kind of confirmation that this is an "after-hours" event though? Aren't those usually billed as limited capacity? Do we actually know that Disney is limiting capacity for this? For all we know they could sell as many tickets to it as they allow in during the regular day right now, couldn't they?

see the official Disney blog post (and reminder that you can click on a link even if it looks like it is still loading):

Directly from the announcement:
In case you aren’t familiar with Disney After Hours, it’s a special event that’s open to a limited number of guests, after normal park operating hours. The experience offers low wait times at more than 20 attractions from classics like the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain, to newer favorites like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It’s a ghostly good time for all!

This is also my fear. They advertise it as “limited capacity”. But in all honesty- every day at Disney right now is supposedly “limited capacity” as well. Yet reports are that the crowds are definitely more and more noticeable. So how do we know what will be considered limited capacity for this event? We really won’t know until reports start coming in from the people who attend the early events. I’m not sure I’m willing to spend that much money until I at least know what to expect...

Well it’s called “Disney After Hours Boo Bash” and it states limited capacity. They are clearly marketing it as a DAH event and not MNSSHP lite.

What?

They are pointing out that ITS NOT THE SAME. So people need to stop saying the following:

It is perfectly acceptable to point out glaring differences to an event or to WDW. Also with this being the Planning Thread on this forum I would HOPE that people would be calling out the differences especially for people possibly looking at making this first ever trip to the party.
Nevermind.

Limited to a mere 50,000 guests or so! :rotfl2:

35% of pre-COVID max capacity day. Just do the math! ;)

I remember low wait times was a selling point for the parties at one point, then they removed that verbiage. But After Hours have always been sold as low wait times. Should look much like they did before COVID.

I am happy MK park won't be closing early 4 days a week for MNSSHP. I am glad it is after hours, and a high price might suppress attendance enough to make it really enjoyable. I wanted to skip this, but now I reconsidered. It will be cooler at night, and the last hour might be the best part of it, least crowded.

We did Villians on 2-14, it was fun. I have a Happy Villiantines shirt from that night. A month later the world stopped.

But I only need 2 tickets, and for adults. I expect $140-150.
Except the "after hours" starts at 7pm, so the park really does close early. Otherwise, I would expect that time of year, the park would be open till 9 or 10 at least.
While they may be having limited dates at this point, if the demand is there, I expect to see many more dates added.

Event starts at 9 but you can enter at 7.

That makes more sense. When I read it before, I thought the event started at 7. Entering at 7 and starting at 9 is much better. Doesn't impact the regular guests as much.

Let's not get crazy. That's obviously Christmas in July.
Hey, I think you’re onto something! We rarely get down during the Christmas party season, I would definitely go to a Christmas Party in July! Themed as Christmas in July, of course, not pretending it’s December (although other than not dressing for the cooler weather the rest could be prettying the same as far as i concerned!)

We’ll be there Sept 30- Oct 3. I would love to do this, a am crossing my fingers. However, I’m thinking it’s likely they’ll skip this specific time period because of the actual 50th. Oh well, I’ll survive.

My thought are that this will be priced slightly higher than the VAH were, but I would love to be wrong.

They would miss out on a ton of revenue if they skipped this time period. I'm there Sept. 28-Oct. 2 and will do Boo Bash any night during that trip, as many others will too. It'll be busy, people will want to be in the park later when it's not as crowded as daytime with all the people there for the 50th, it would sell out in no time. If they skip that week they'll probably have some very unhappy customers, including myself.

I just thought of something regarding food at the event, lol. At the after hour events they have free drinks and snacks but they don’t at MNSSHP, you have to pay for specialty items. I wonder if they are going to do both, free popcorn/ice cream bars and stuff plus the specialty treats that you pay for.

this is an event not a party so i would think free stuff included. I just need to see the price tag

Seems like that would have been part of the description if they were planning to include free food. The way it's worded implies that it will NOT be included as it specifically states "available for purchase".

Event Highlights
This hauntingly happy Halloween event is sure to be spook-tacular! Highlights include:
  • Halloween-themed cavalcades
  • Candy stops, with plenty of sweet surprises
  • Character sightings throughout the park
  • Special performances by the Cadaver Dans
  • Attractions, including favorites like Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain
  • Themed food and beverages available for purchase
  • Special décor, lighting, music and more!

I guess with the free stuff it would cause crowds to gather-- where if they have to pay it will not.

I think if you’re expecting either MNSSHP or Villians or even EMH - you may be disappointed - just take it for what it is - after hours at MK with Halloween decor, candy and some themed cavalcades, etc...probably expensive and no guarantee that it won’t be crowded - and I say this knowing I plan on attending unless it costs over $200.

I think the announcement is saying free candy, and we can guess from past After Hours events free soda and popcorn. But the specials treats are for purchase.

Villains After Hours was $155, regular After Hours were $129/$139 (advance vs day of).

I feel like Disney had done us a disservice by sharing a little bit of information but not dates and details.

There is nothing at all in the announcement that indicates free soda and popcorn. I would not plan on this being part of the event unless Disney announces it.
