No pre-shows?

Saw someone mention something about missing/adjusted pre-shows. Is this still happening? If so, what attractions are impacted? FoP and Haunted Mansion came to mind...but I am sure there are more I’m not thinking about!

FoP only has the 2nd preshow room, the one with the safety instructions since those are important to ride. But that is shown in both rooms at the same time, so there is space to distance But pretty much all the other ones aren't there or are significantly reduced. Nothing at HM, ToT, RnRC, Mickey and Minnie's, no car designing at Test Track, and I'm sure I'm missing several others.

Does it significantly detract from the experience to not have them? We knew some things were closed but hadn't considered things like pre shows when planning our trip.

Dang. I hadn’t thought about this. There is one for Dinosaur too. For FoP is it missing the one where it does the face scan thing? Do you still see the “lab” area with the avatar floating?

I think I can deal with all of them except no stretching room

While it doesn't truly detract from the ride portion, it does mess with the story elements of the attraction and, to some degree, it reduces/eliminates any sense of anticipation/anxiety about the ride.

In the plasticized cases of Smuggler's Run and Rise of the Resistance, not having the beginning of the storyline kinda leaves you feeling "why are we doing this?". Which is sad when the whole point is to immerse you in the story.

Everything is still enjoyable. Just maybe not as fully as it could be.

there are a few shows that still have the pre-show.
RoTR has a pre-show. FoP has a modified 1 room pre-show. Dinosaur has a modified one. Runs as you walk through.
Haunted Mansion, MMRR, Peter Pan, RnRC, ToT, are walk through only.
I understand why, but it does hurt the story of some of these rides.

You still do the full queue at FoP. Yes, it skips the one where it scans your face and just does the safety spiel.

Some of the preshows just seem like a way to waste time until the ride lets in more people. At Test Track, no matter how fast you 'design' your vehicle, you still wait in line with everyone else. Seems they could have better used the space to expand the ride to allow for more riders. The problem with many rides is they don't have enough capacity for the number of people trying to ride. Newer rides should be designed with more tracks/cars/capacity and if they do away with preshows would be fine by me. Preshow or standing in line seems like the same thing.

The pre-shows are a big part of the storytelling of Disney attractions, which is mostly what sets Disney (and Universal) apart from the regional chains like Six Flags and Cedar Fair. They set up and drive the story that is told by the set pieces and effects seen during the actual ride part of the attraction. Six Flags, Cedar Fair, etc. have rides. Disney (and Universal) have attractions, and the experience, while still enjoyable, it incomplete without the pre-show elements.

The pre shows are so important. I hope they come back soon. I would not want to bring someone new to Disney without them. What sets Disney rides apart is the story and immersion. I can go on better "rides" at my local theme park.
I can't wait for Covid to hit the road.

I understand why they had removed some of the pre-shows, but I really enjoyed them and hope they return soon.
Most of them were gone last week when we were there and their absence was noted.

Fop and dinosaur preshows have safety instructions

I’ve never been on MMRR. I generally try to avoid spoilers, but the pre-shows aren’t running, should I watch online before riding?

I would. I just got back from WDW two weeks ago and experienced the ride without the pre-show. I just watched it through the link in this thread. IMO, the pre-show won’t spoil it for you and will make the beginning of the ride make more sense.

For Test Track can you design your car and create your car commercial in the post show area?
