Does anyone know what the "special offers" are for the "sold out" resorts? Or how long the offers will be available?

That's like an extra $7000-$9000 per 100 points vs resale. Insane.
That's one of the ways they steer people to buying the new resorts instead of the older ones. If you really want Poly it's going to be 250 dollars a point, but if you look over here at Riviera, that's only 191 or whatever the price is right now, and it's just so easy to use your points at Poly within the 7 month window...

This is my problem... I want BLT, but I'm thinking I should do SS or AK instead. I kind of wish I had bought BLT as my first resale now and AK direct instead.

Is it me or are Resale prices for SSR and Direct prices getting closer. I was looking at buying SSR Direct with discounts, is around 150 PP and now resale for SSR are ticking up to 138pp, I am wondering if i should just buy SSR Direct to get the blue card as a one time purchase. then buy small add on as i go, thoughts?

The gap in the past few months has definitely closed and the fact that DVD is offering savings on it brings it even closer.

Given the ability to use direct SSR at RIV and any future resorts, and being eligible for any blue card benefits, can make the difference worth it.

Given you can buy it on a CC and get rewards, that gives you even a little bit more back. Use the Disney Visa and get at least 6 months, 0% interest to pay it off. So, if you have the money in an account, you earn a little there too.

Agreed. Depending on how many points the price difference needs to be $20-30 pp to even consider dealing with all of the things that resale brings. ROFR, Restrictions etc. On anything under 75 points I wouldn't even consider it with the exception of the VGF/POLY/BLT.

Exactly. I will be there next month and thinking of getting my blue card. For the price of BLT resale, if I can even find one now, I can get ssr direct. Still think BLT direct is a stretch.

For me, I’m considering buying 40-50 points direct at VGF. Resale for a VGF contract that small is $200+/point. That’s savings of right around 20% at best, and I’ve seen it where savings would be in the teens. I’d rather just go direct for that price I’ll pick my use year and have the points dropped right into my account. Resale needs to be about 30-40% (IMO) to be attractive for me.

I saved over 40% on 100 point Poly resale contract I purchased in February. That is worth it to me. The other thing I have to consider is the number of points I purchase. If I’m purchasing several hundred points, every dollar/point really matters to me because we are likely talking several thousand dollars. Not to minimize money at any price point, but on a small contract, savings resale vs direct are only a couple thousand dollar and a more digestible total (ex. $10-12K for a small vs $30-$40K for a large contract). That’s how I see it, at least.

It is! I bought my BLT resale last summer but hate the restricted points since I want to book RIV every trip for part of the split stay,

Considered even selling since prices are up some, but to replace it with direct just doesn’t make sense for those 100 points...hubby likes BLT so have to keep points there.

So, we will keep, and now just wait an extra year to add on direct. We will either do 75 at RIV...my choice...or 60 at BLT...hubby’s choice.

Or, I’ll convince him by then to let me get both!

Blue card benefits just can't seem to match the savings for me. If I want to stay at Riviera I'll just rent out my points and use that money to rent Riviera. It'll be a few hundred dollars more but that's way better to me than shelling out the thousands for a direct contract.

I’m not going to go crazy trying to get my blue card, but it’s something I want to work toward. Yes, the benefits suck now, but I think Disney will start doing things to make direct purchases more attractive. I think they missed the mark on the Riviera resale restrictions, but I think there will be other ways to make it more enticing.

We just added on 60 pts direct at VGF after our resale contract fell through- I have to say it was nice having my points show up the moment I docusigned (it is possible they were in there at the time of my call, I just didn't check until after I finished the paperwork). I agree that for me a 20-30% savings on a small points purchase isn't worth it - I would rather pay the difference and be able to use the points at RIV and other future resorts. I think once you get to 100+ points contracts, though, that the math starts looking really different. It will be interesting to see what happens with resale since prices are getting so much higher (although who am I kidding, they will probably just raise direct prices to match!)

this is where we are too - not in a hurry to get it, but would like it to be easily attainable if they announce another increase in the minimum coming up or if there are suddenly some good benefits!

We look at it this way: My significant other and I purchased 225 points resale at SSR to be our network points and our consistent base option. It gets us a 1BR for our desired travel time in the preferred area next to Disney Springs (we love the shopping, food, and non-park options). We purchased 100 points resale at Poly to get us 4-5 days in a studio. Yes, they are more expensive studios, but we (specifically my significant other) love the vibe and the value is better than a 1BR. We are looking at 40-50 points to make that Poly trip a split stay week or a long weekend and bank. It will just be enough for a studio, so that’ll be our studio week. We are looking at VGF, CCV, or RIV. VGF is so appealing because it borders Poly and we also love that vibe and location.

That’s our plan for now. I’m always interested in how people approach DVC and the difference in preferences. It’s fascinating to me!

We just added on 150 Direct points at SSR for $157 pp (current add-on incentives). We added on the day our membership number was emailed to us for our first resale contract at Hilton Head. For our resale contract, the time it took from offer to membership account email was a total of 4 months. The direct add-on, with the current incentives and immediate loading of points, was too good to pass up for the blue card benefits and ability to use those points at Riviera (especially with the gap closing on resale prices vs. direct prices for SSR.). I believe the SSR discount expires May 12.

The only way I am buying BLT is resale, Moving forward i am only getting small contracts I think I am going Direct with 200 points SSR. its the same price as 150 points BLT resale.
I believe the incentives end May 12, so if you going after that date, I would look into buying now. Thats what we are doing because we go in June and i don't think the incentives will last long.

You don't think they will release new incentives in June?
