If you try for a BG and get an early time, I believe you can drop it , right? But not sure if that would free up trying at 1pm or not...
Once you obtain a BG you may not try for a second one later in the day, even if you drop and don't use the first one. It's a one and done for the day.

We will arrive just after 10 AM. If we miss our time, can we come to the park and try again for the 1PM slots, or does the missed slot count as your ride for the day? This ride is my number one priority for the week. Trying to get as many chances at a BG as possible. Thank you for the quick replies!
There are few boarding groups that will be called and time frame expired before you arrive, as long as you're there just after 10. I'd take the chance and see what happens. Though, if it were me, I'd do HS on a day when you can get there for unofficial open. Shorter lines during the first 2 hours means more rides with less wait.

Wow, we are here now and I usually get in. I hit join and it to me to a page that described the ride. I was so mad. Other 2 of my group tried but none of us got in. That was a first. Now moving to Epcot for the day.
Thats what it did to me the other day!
Sorry that happened, I've had this happen to me a few times in the past. From what I can tell, if you're off a little bit when you're tapping that Join button, it takes you to the ride description page. You can see this at any time (without having to wait for 7AM or 1PM) if you tap the first Join button, then tap anywhere on the next screen that appears.

Sorry but this is incorrect information. As long as you drop your initial BG before it is called then you are able to try for a new BG at the 1 PM window.

You can only use 1 BG per day.

So The first day of our trip we are driving up and we have reservations for HS. Assuming we get a pass at the 7am group, are we okay if we get to the park by 10am?

It would depend on what time the park opens and what time they call you. You have one hour from when your BG number is called.

question, from reading post one, can myself and my son both login to my MDE login on our phones and both try to get the group? That won't cause any conflicts? Also, I was doing join right at 7am. should I be trying a second or two earlier to start hitting join?

Yes

No

The timing has to be perfect. I always wait until my phone changes to 7am. Others use a world clock or other app to time it right at 7am.

Yes

No

I read on here this morning that someone said they do 6:59:59 and hit join, so do we wait straight for 7 or do we hit slightly early, and there are at least 2 or 3 joins, which one counts? Like there is the outter join on the app, is that the one that counts for 7am or is it the second one?

I can only speak to my own experience. I press join the second my phone clock switches from 6:59 to 7:00 (from the ATAT home screen). I have been 100% successful when practicing with that method. I know others have different methods that work for them, including using different clocks or pressing the button slightly before 7.

I also wait until the time on my phone switches to 7am/1pm before clicking the Join button on the first MDE screen at the AT At picture. I am successful 99.99% of the time.

I used to be fairly successful, but lately my phone is taking a few seconds later to select the party (me). It is pre-selected but it takes a few seconds to get to that screen, and a few seconds is all it takes to miss the boarding selection.

Anyone else have this issue lately? I'm at home on Verizon network when this has occurred. My sister, who has Sprint, has been more successful.

I also have noticed this a couple of times recently. This morning my test run seemed about to fail when "Loading..." displayed for several seconds after the first Join button. (This was on wi-fi.) But at the end it showed the "Just a moment" screen anyway, which as I understand it indicates success. Maybe doing a force-stop on some apps will improve the speed a bit.

Horrible day for ROTR. Looks like it didn't even get to group 70.
Thats too bad!! I’m so sorry for those who hoped to ride today. So disappointing!!

I tried to get a practice BG at 1:00 and it’s one of the very few times I’ve ever been locked out. Guessing they didn’t release many (if any) BGs at 1:00.

I have a Galaxy 6 Edge. Yes, a dinosaur, but it is adequate for what I use it for. I tried to get a boarding group in September, did everything right, started refreshing at 9:59am, I got nothing. I'm wondering if I would fare better with a more modern phone?

That is my only problem with the whole boarding group system. Some people are not going to spend $1000+ for a smart phone just to get a boarding group. I have an iPhone X Max and it just will not compete with the new 5G phones. When Disney says everyone has the same chance, it's not even close to being true.

I'm totally jinxing myself here, but I thought I'd share that I started practicing this week (from TX) and am 3 out of 4 at the 1 pm drop: using an iPhone 8, no WiFi, not on 5G. Watching countdown from time.gov. The one time I didn't, it was user error on my end.

I started practicing to learn the ropes, but also see if I needed to upgrade phone. I'm going to keep practicing to see.

Newbie question here.

A. Just confirming that on day of reservation I will not have to select any in our party correct - they will automatically be selected?

B. Related to that I noticed today that my two year old showed up in my selections. We created a profile for making restaurant reservations through the app. I actually was practicing if I could "select all" and still make it to the "not so fast" page. I did in fact make it. However my two year old was selected. So I'm wondering if that will happen on day of and because he is two, doesn't have a ticket nor a reservation, it will kick me out and prevent me form getting the boarding spot.

How that makes sense, appreciate any info.

A. Correct - don’t select anyone, just click Join on that page. Don’t even look to see who has been selected.
B. Since you are not even going to click Select All, don’t worry about it. If he doesn’t have a ticket or a DHS park pass reservation that day, he won’t be selected. But again, don’t even take the time to look at who’s selected and who’s not! Just click Join-Join-Join quickly!
