***Can't keep us down...OFFICIAL MAY 2021 THREAD...come heck or high water we're going to WDW!!!***

Thanks for the info on the Cheer Camps. When we originally booked our May 2020 trip it was the only week my son could go between the end of his college semester and start of his summer co-op. I just used that same week this year for our May 2021 for no particular reason. As I start to grapple with the high probability that it will likely be May 2022, I realized we can do the week after cheer camp.

Well friends, it's official. I pulled the plug and cancelled my reservations tonight...sending good vibes to all of you who have trips planned. I hope you all have fantastic trips and look forward to your reports! 2022....here I come!

We've also now pulled the plug on our trip. It became clear that we wouldn't be able to be fully vaccinated by May, so we made the tough decision to bump it to May '22. We were originally considering this December as our backup, but there's still enough uncertainty about this year that it felt better to push it out further just to be sure. As painful as it is to push our trip another whole year out (making it two years after our originally planned May '20 trip) I don't think I could handle getting ready for a December trip only to end up having to cancel and rebook for a 4th time.

Good luck to all of of you still planning to go in May (ADRs are coming up soon!).

I hear ya...we considered a November trip but agree we might as well wait for May...guess we'll have to join a May 2022 group...

I rescheduled for next year. I don’t want to put my daughter through getting a covid test just to go on vacation. We had to get it because she was sick (it wasn’t covid) and it was absolutely awful for her. I can’t do that to her for a vacation. Hopefully things are better next year and we won’t need this.

I hope you guys all enjoy your trip and have the best time.

Hi everyone! I haven’t posted on this thread, or the boards in a while. I was in a Disney COVID funk and kind of shut off from everything Disney for a while and focused on the house my fiancé and I purchased over the summer.
I am here to say that we are STILL GOING!! I have started the process again of planning the trip (a little different than what I’m used to), seeing what is open and what is not and getting myself excited again.

I was wondering if anyone knew if you are able to get Ohana items at Tambu Lounge considering Ohana is closed. I figured I’d ask here before going and posting about it.

Happy May travels!!:flower1:

I believe I have seen some reports of the banana bread pudding, wings and noodles at Tambu Lounge but don't have any personal experience...unfortunately..part of our decision to delay to 2022 is due to 'Ohana being closed...

I’m planning on being there May 22-27. I haven’t decided where I am going to stay . It is between the Swan, Pop or OKW right now.

Bread pudding is definitely available at Kona atm, not sure about the other items.

What is the “Memorial Day week” considered? The week before or the week that includes it? We are going 22-28 and am getting nervous about crowds. I know it will be crowded in May, but I’m hoping we’ll get out before the big ones with our last park day (AK) being on the 27th. Memorial Day is the 31st this year.

You don't have anything to worry about. There is no such thing as "Memorial Day week" tbh, people coming for the general timeframe won't be arriving until the day after you leave. Their kids won't be out of school yet.

Awesome! TBH that was my thought process when we booked, but I’ve been second guessing myself after hearing the reports of this week’s crowds. Thanks for talking me down ;)

Mother/daughter trip booked 5/14/21 to 5/22/21 at Pop Century. We had originally booked a Disneyland trip for May of 2020 and were hoping to reschedule that for Disneyland May, 2021 but they won't open the park! So, we are coming home to WDW and staying at Pop Century for the first time. So excited! :cool1::cheer2:

I got my second Moderna shot this past Sunday. I’m not worried about my gf getting vaccinated in time, I’m worried about the border--while things can change I think it’s incredibly unlikely at this point that Canadians will be able to come down, as painful as it is.

So we’re going to continue to monitor the situation and after talking to our TA, May might be cut down to a solo week for me. We extended our 50th anniversary weekend trip with a backup reservation at the Poly. It’s probably for the best.

We have found that the weekends before and after a big holiday weekend are less crowded than the big holiday weekend. :)

We just booked our May trip! We’ll be staying at fort wilderness in a cabin from 5/9-5/12. Our son turns 1 in April so it’s a first birthday/Mother’s Day trip. We haven’t gone anywhere since last March so we are very excited! We live about an hour away so it’s a quick drive over.

Gosh he’s already that old! Time flies, I remember when we were all on baby watch in the credit card thread breathlessly awaiting news!:rotfl2:

I hope you guys enjoy. The cabins always look so cozy and peaceful. That’s a perfect way to celebrate, I think!
