Waiting for DISNEYLAND HOTEL DVC Thread (see post 1 for updates)

The studios also only appear to sleep 4, unless I'm missing something. The 1BRs sleep 5. Out of 350 rooms 309 are studios or pods so I guess Disney just doesn't think there are any families of 5?

Also what will the point chart look like for this if the resort is almost all studios and the minimum purchase is 100? This isn't WDW. I don't need a week. 3 nights is plenty.

As a family of 5 this has definitely been a challenge. Also, one of the main reasons I bought into DVC.

Looks like if it's a similar point chart to Grand Californian we'd be looking at a cap of something like 3.55 million points, give or take a couple hundred thousand based on lock off penalties etc. Thats about 3X VGC, somewhere between Beach Club and Boardwalk in point size, and roughly half of Riviera.

Now we don't have any idea what the point chart will actually be, but my best guess is that it will be similar to VGC (the premier DLR hotel) and that they will use price per point to drive revenue.

A bit disappointed they went with PODs without a dedicated bed. Feels more like a cash grab than a home away from home
If its like the bed at Riviera in the Tower Studios it is a full size Queen bed that is a murphy bed that pulls down from the wall not a crappy sofa bed.

I've been waiting and hoping they'd add more DVC to DL for well over a decade now. Of course now that they are, the price per point has gotten so high we probably can't swing it. I'll still watch and wait for verification we're priced out... :scratchin

I was noting the same and... ugh. We are a family who needs that extra space, as my boys won't share a bed. This may make me reconsider buying.

I think we see a 20% increase in point requirement with prices starting at $200/point. That means in fall it goes from 148 points to 175-180 points for a week in a studio.
I wonder if they’ll split it into standard view, pool/theme park view, and garden, with the standard units less than VGC and the others more. The garden units have patios and balconies even on the studios and pods; no other studios or pods do.

I noticed it seems like there are very few balconies! I wonder if it has something to do with California law and/or insurance. They seem rare in Disneyland-area hotels, and the weather there would make a balcony a nice thing to have, especially compared to Florida.

Edited: The project is recommended for approval in the document I linked and the asks of Disney seem very reasonable to me (e.g. conduct a water study; send us quarterly updates, etc). The commission meets Monday to approve.

When you say approve, do you mean the project as a whole? As in, Disney would have permission to build it?

Poolside has to be outrageous.

Honestly I would spend 200-250 points for a week poolside in a POD if I could get it.

I believe if you set aside Christmas and Easter the most expensive studio week is 199 for Lake view at VGF. So I’m betting not 250 or 300.
