SSR report, June 29

We arrived at SSR on Friday, and the resort is extremely quiet and probably at 5 percent of capacity or less.

We are staying in the area of the Paddock near the pool. That appears to be the only section of Paddock that is open. The weekend had about 15-20 cars, but on Monday afternoon I saw seven cars.

The Paddock section and the Congress Park section appear to be the only sections of the resort open.

We have been to the High Rock Spring Pool twice in the afternoon and there were about 25 people there for the peak. The loungers are spread out some, but only 10 percent of them are in use, probably less. The Paddock pool also is open and because it is small, it looked a bit more "crowded" at the time, so we went to High Rock.

People in the common areas are using masks, especially where there are people around. When you are in your lounger, they have announced you should wear you mask. Not everyone is doing it, but people are so spread out it, I don't think anyone is feeling unsafe.

We also went to Disney Springs one afternoon, with few people about. The afternoon is always slower there.

To get to the Springs, you can walk or take the bus. We walked, as I have only seen one bus since being here. You could drive over and park at Congress Park to save a few steps,

No boats are running at SSR or Disney Springs.

With the new safety procedures, getting food and shopping takes more time. Disney Springs is also sold out of many adult-size masks.

They appear to be renovating the rooms near the main bus stop near the High Springs Pool. I did not see any work being done, however.

We are here for a week, so if anyone has a question I can try to answer.

Thanks for the report. Wow, I seen some videos and reports from BLT and BW. SSR seems pretty quiet. At least you have DS close by. Enjoy your stay.😎👍🏻

Did you notice any Movies Under the Stars playing/scheduled? We are there next month and looking for evening activities after parks close. Thanks!

Have you noticed if the bus stops are configured differently in how people wait? I realize that only DS is open now, but I was thinking that they may be preparing for when the parks open. I’m wondering how they are going to have people physically distance when there are busses that go to 5 parks/ DS and no queues at each stop (like OKW, where we are staying when the parks open). At least at some DVCs there are different bus slots for each park, and the values usually have queues. Could be chaotic especially since they are not allowing as many people on the busses. I guess I’m hoping they will have some sort of organized way for people to wait for the busses while social distancing and being fair (not having someone just walking up and cutting people). TIA 🤗

Movies were listed as an activity on the white board in the community hall, but I didn't see a schedule. You could play pool, ping-pong and foosball. There were cast members in hall, but no guests.

I have seen a couple of busses go through. The most people I have seen getting on a bus was about 6 or so that looked to be the same family. With so few people here using the bus, the pool, or anything, social distancing is easy.

I didn't see any special markings near the bus stop. We have yet to ride the bus, so I can't say if they have any special instructions. I have also seen a couple of buses while driving around, and they were empty.

Disney has set up social distancing protocols all over.

At the Artist's Palette, they have it up so you enter one way and exit another with marks on the floor for social distancing. However, once again, this is not really being tested as there are more cast members in there than guests.

The setup is a bit awkward and I wonder how they will do when stressed by a crowd bigger than a couple of families.

At the World of Disney store, they have cast members all over directing traffic to keep people flowing with distancing. Once again, it was so slow when we were there it was not an issue.

On the pool slide, they have markings on the ground for distancing. But right now there is no line for the slide.

We played minigolf last night at Fantasia Gardens. They check your temperature and have a holding area where you wait before entering to pay and play.

There were people playing, but everyone was fairly spread out and there was no waiting. Masks are required to play.

How Disney will handle larger crowds isn't being tested right now because there are so few people here.

Thanks for the report. We are supposed to stay there in December after our cruise (if that even happens).

I still don’t understand why everywhere isn’t just enter at your own risk. Wear a mask don’t wear a mask.

Because wearing a mask isn't about protecting yourself, it's about protecting the people around you. If I wear a mask I'm protecting you from me, but if you're not wearing one then I'm not protected from you even if I'm wearing one. The mask stops my droplets from spreading.

I understand that part except the mask wearer has to clean mask regularly along don’t touch face or adjust without washing hands. Most people are not going to take care of masks properly, touching face or washing hands. It is somewhat a false sense of security like the bag checks into the park.

I don't want to get in a mask debate on the SSR board, there are plenty of other boards for that, but this is not the same as the OP of "wear a mask don't wear a mask." Different argument.
