Marathon Weekend 2021

Yes you need both to book today
Non resort APs can book friday
Sunday new tickets may be purchased at least for resort guests who need ticket media as well as 2021 packages for select resorts
Sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for Sunday. I've got an AP and a DVC rental for MW and the weekdays following...but the friend who's coming with me doesn't have a park ticket and I don't see the point in booking park passes until I can book them for both of us. Went ahead and mapped out a rough day-by-day schedule that the two of us will discuss tonight so I'm at least prepared to book park passes as soon as I have her ticket in order. It was surprisingly difficult to make a schedule to fit even the limited criteria I've set for this trip; I'm so used to park hopping that having to set ourselves up with an expectation of one park per day kind of stresses me out! But we've got a full day per park and a little extra, so we should cover all the basics. I'm just trying to remind myself that we really can't do it all, as much as I want to show her everything on her first visit.

I've been reading that Disney is making noises about it not being necessary to request refunds on parkhoppers just yet, with the implication that parkhopping could be reinstated before September 2021, but right now I'm inclined to just buy her a non-hopper since upgrading during our trip really isn't that much fuss if it turns out we can.

Personally, I never grew up with Splash Mountain being linked in my mind to the Songs of the South film. Instead I grew up with it being linked to the Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah song from the Sing-A-Long VHS and with the Brer Rabbit stories we read in 1st grade. Therefore, I've never felt the ride to be controversial. To be fair, I'm not a Person of Color, and social mores change with time.

The parks are not museums, they are meant to entertain and as @Barca33Runner pointed out, Princess and the Frog will resonate more with families that will be attending the park today.

Similar to Maelstrom converting into Frozen Ever After, however, this is just another change in the park that doesn't particularly resonate with me. I'll continue to enjoy Splash Mountain while it remains in its current form, and I'll be sad to see it go.

That was said perfectly! Hadn't really thought of that saying. The parks are not museums. Love it!

Yes, it's sad when things change, but honestly, I was very against the Guardians change to TOT at DCA, and now it's practically my favorite ride!!! It's soo much better. And I don't even watch Avengers/super hero movies!

Good morning, runDisney all-stars!

Summer is here and it’s getting pretty darn toasty. For this week’s Sundays are for Disney, what are your favorite ways to cool off at WDW?

I’m not a big pool guy and Kali River Rapids always seems to be closed when I’m there (I’ve ridden it once in 5 trips), so those are out.

My votes are for parking lot beers, cooling towels, indoor rides like Haunted Mansion and getting soaked on Splash Mountain.

Have a great week, everyone!

SAFD: Mostly our M.O. has been to leave the parks by noon-1 (we're early birds) and head back to our room. Then, mid-afternoon (okay, anything after say, 11 am) chilled wine or beer.

If somehow at the parks, then riding the TTA or seeing CoP at MK; Festival of the Lion King or Tough to be a bug at AK; miss the old days (read: when I was a GM employee) when I could go to the TT lounge at Epcot, but Living with the Land or Soarin' (the old version, please) are good; Studios is a no-go.

I don't shop, so all that stuff is out. And the water parks are too crowded.

I like to take an afternoon break at my resort, relaxing in the AC in my room. By the time it starts to cool down, my energy has rejuvenated and I’m ready for an evening at the parks!

Without leaving the parks, the best way to cool down is to enjoy an indoor attraction. Gran Fiesta Tour...I’m looking at you! A refreshing margarita doesn’t hurt either. 😉

The Little Mermaid ride! Make a post-lunch FP on a hot afternoon and that first decline is like heaven! Heck, it's so relaxing that I probably even nodded-off once or twice. ;)

Parking lot beers for sure. I do also enjoy a nice margarita from Hurricane Hannah’s while visiting with all my friends. I’m not too much of a pool person at WDW but sitting poolside with a beverage is always great.

In the parks Nomad Lounge all the way. Any show is a good way too.

SAFD: Epcot is my favorite because I can ride Gran Fiesta Tour as many times as I want/need and I love walking through Mitsukoshi.

Water rides don’t work that great in the parks as I am still hot, I’m just hot and wet.

Ill grab a soft serve ice cream every chance I get or a Peter Pan float in MK. But I’d do that when it’s 40 degrees.

A lot of times that’s the perfect time to hit an indoor queue for a ride that has a long wait. Flight of Passage has a mostly indoor queue; so if I haven’t had a chance to ride it a couple hour wait isn’t the worst way to avoid the heat (FEA, Space Mountain, Smugglers Run, Toy Story Mania area few others that come to mind for that).

Forgive my ignorance but what is SAFD? And by parking lot beers are you talking about drinking beers in the parking lot? I’m so confused 😄

SAFD=Sundays are for Disney. Just a way for the group to have fun with a Disney-related question.

Parking lot beers are the post-race beers that they sell in the runner area---which is set up in the parking lot at Epcot.
