Splash Mountain to become Princess and the Frog ride

As one of those die-hard fans, this is 100% right.

I still HATE this decision, but you're spot on.

BUT even thought they do things for everyone, not just the die-hards, I think theming should still be important.

Let's see how they can fit New Orleans into Frontierland.

I wonder how they'll incorporate the drop. Maybe something to do with the voodoo part of the movie. That was scary, to me at least. ;)

I agree. I get that people don’t like change and getting rid of classic attractions at Disney. And I understand not everything needs to be princess-themed. But take the Frozen ride, for example. I get why people were upset about it. But my DD, who is 9, absolutely loves it. It is for that generation. It will be what she remembers. There are plenty of things at Disney I loved as a kid that are gone. But it’s okay. Life must move on.

Yes.. this is what will one day be nostalgia for this generation.

I was always annoyed that P&F didn’t get more park love. I love Zipadeedoda, but I’m thrilled to see more Nawlins represented. They’re not dismantling the ride, people. They’re just making it a ton better and giving a great movie more love.

I think its more along the lines that people get upset when things get changed based off pressure from people, esp people who aren't even in the Disney fan base. I just find it hard to believe its not being changed because of that
Didja ever think that those people "aren't even in the Disney fan base" because Disney has never really invited them in?

Disney World has very few lands compared to the other parks. They could always just re-theme the sections a bit like they're doing with Epcot.

Oh I didn’t see that. Maybe the setting will be after the movie when Princess Tiana wanders into the woods & meets Brer Rabbit & Brer Fox 😂.

From the DPB article -

"The theme is inspired by an all-time favorite animated Disney film, “The Princess and the Frog.” We pick up this story after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a
musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance."

So maybe "Friends on the Other Side" will get to be in the ride! I hope they work Dr. John's "Down in New Orleans" in somehow.

I said in another thread I love this idea. The swamp scene would work well for the ride.

But can I be panicky? ;) Would they work on Splash and Thunder Mountain at same time, and still not have Tron finished?
Seriously hope that Splash and Big Thunder aren't both down next May, or we may have to reschedule yet again. Especially Big Thunder.

I hope this means that it will be open through the fall. I'd like to get in a couple more rides.
I think it'll be open for quite a while. From the interviews, it sounds like this is an idea that's been tossed around but no real planning has been done. It sounds to me like they're in preliminary stages, and announced it much earlier in the process than they usually do due to the current climate.

It is all good, if they do it right. I think Pocahontas theme is more appropriate.

But it really surprises me that this is where they are putting their money right now.

Gonna put on my “My Oh My, What a Wonderful Day” shirt today and hum the song. That’s the main thing I will miss.
