DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

We like Poly *** well but I think as families get older favorites change as being on the monorail loop when they were younger was the want. Now with the additions as HS and the food and drink aspect of EPCOT the location and atmosphere are the family's favorite. And with all that Home Resort is AKL Kidani

We've talked about buying enough points on a resale for the thick end of a week in Treehouse Villas, as your call is a good one, the drawback is studios only at the Poly. I liked the resorts plenty at the Boardwalk, I just didn't care that much for the, er, Boardwalk. Each to their own my friend. I would happily stay at AKL if it wasn't so darn far. The resort is beautiful.

WDW pick 'em for today.........
  1. RNRC or TOT?
  2. Music, When You Wish Upon a Star or A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes?
  3. MK Cinnamon Roll at Gastons or AK Mickey Cinnamon Roll at Kutsafari Bakery?
  4. Kilimanjaro Safari or Living with the Land?
  5. Cold Beer at American Pavilion or at Canada Pavilion?

1. TOT - I have plenty of roller coasters here at home that put RNRC to shame - but TOT is different every time and awesome!
2. When You Wish Upon a Star - classic Disney - makes me think of the old Disney TV commercials they used to run.
3. YES
4. Living with the Land - 9 lb lemons trump hidden Lions
5. Canada Pavilion beer is better - don't tell Darcy. :rotfl2:

Really tough ones today.
1 - yes if not both tier 1 (oh wait, EVERYTHING at HS is tier 1 now) still can't choose
2 - WYWUAS
3 - think I mentioned it here before maybe. Gastons for texture/softness, kusafari for flavor (flavour for our Canadian brethren)
4 - Yes and yes
5 - Germany

Happy Tuesday. So, the boss sent me an email asking for a timeline of a project completion. I'm thinking the day after I retire sounds good.
Good plan. :thumbsup2

Outside of the points cheapness, I like the Boardwalk because of the theming and walking distance to the two parks. Some complain about the long hallway walks, but I like being inside the one building. I prefer that to the resort style at Poly where you walk to the different buildings. While I've yet to stay at Grand Floridean, my favorite so far is Bay Lake Tower. I'm not sure any resort is a bad place to be.
We were at the very end of boardwalk (I could have spit and hit jellyrolls) Just as with AKL, did not like the hall that went on for Niles and Niles and Niles. If you don't believe me, you're in ....

On the other hand, depending on which building and bus stop, that can be a long walk at other resorts as well. I guess I like looking at grass, trees, water and wildlife much more than endless walls. Great thing about Disney...something for everyone.

Keto here. I found that just good old cooking is better than recipes. I went up for the better cut of steak (strip loin), season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, sear both sides in olive oil in cast iron skillet, and finish it in the broiler with butter.
I agree to an extent...found some good recipes (or at least ideas) from other folks. Not a big avacodo fan, so different ideas on how to incorporate it are good (for me)

ToT.
No thanks.
Kutsafari. Although I do like the cinnamon roll at Gastons with the Apple slushy thing
Safari, but only 1st thing in the morning or at around 5.
Yeah, Canada.
you're in ....

Equal... The Missus can't ride TOT though, so...
A Pirate's Life for Me
Think I'll have another Dole Whip
Safari, but we never miss either
Germany

Thinking you need to post and share that recipe sooner rather than later
3/4 cup - Coffee
1/3 cup - Black Tea
1.5 ozs - Bourbon (more is better)
2-5 tbs - chocolate syrup (to taste, basically)
1/4 cup - Milk/Cream

Whipped Cream (if you want such)

That's the general proportions, but adjust it as you please

Are you sure. Don't think you do...as Steve Carlin said....burned those brain cells right up. :lmao:
Steve?
Might want to check that brain cell count.

Doh...was thinking Steve Martin and then remembered it was George Carlin.

Too funny. :lmao: :rotfl2:

No, wait. Another bit by Carlin(might even ve the same skit)....

I meant to do that I meant to do that.
F'ing meow.

Yep, love AKL but it does make travel around harder. Since it is lower than most on points we seem to get more stays and ride shares and a Mini-Van ride here and there take some of the sting out of the far away distance. Ride share gets you to HS right by the gondola station. For EPCOT ride share to / from Beach Club and use the gateway entrance. MK use the Mini Van as they drop ya right off at the bus loop as regular Ride Share can only get to Ticket and Transportation (or Bay Lake Towers)

Thanks for the recipe - gonna have to try that out sooner rather than later

  1. Wishes or Illuminations?
  2. MK or AK rope drop?
  3. Spectromagic or Main St Electrical Parade?
  4. Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?
  5. Tipsy Ducks in Love or one of the Slushes in France?

1. Illuminations. Even though the endless spinning globe was boring, they still had a fire barge.
2. MK rope drop. Easier to disperse the crowds with more attractions.
3. I dunno. Whatever distracts more people so I can get shorter lines for the rides.
4. Typhoon Lagoon, because they have the Crush 'n Gusher.
5. :confused3

If I could make a suggestion...instead of wrapping avocado with ground meat and bacon, simply throw the avocado away and wrap the cheeseburger with bacon.

Well said, good sir. :thumbsup2

1 - The eyes liked Wishes more, but the ears were far more attracted to Illuminations (the Overture and Finale are fabulous pieces of music, but granted, the Intermezzo section was a bit slow)

I liked that music better, too.

1. RNRC
2. When You Wish is the one that I associate with Disney most easily.
3. Kusafari, I guess
4. Safari
5. No idea what's on the menu at either, so I'll take Canada for the scenery.

Sounds about right. I got your timeline right here...

I think that's my favorite resort. Having the animals outside off the balcony is pretty special.

Hey, Gents! Just a quick check in. Pretty busy week last week in the warehouse. It was, obviously, end of the month, so that meant shipping out a ton of stuff. By the end of the week, my back was hurting something fierce! My DW and DD pretty much knew to leave me alone on the weekend. I did have to go in Saturday morning for about 3 hours, but once that was done I was off to get a hair cut, mow the lawn, which takes all of half an hour for my front yard, and then on the floor for my back. Yesterday I wound up being the only guy in the warehouse and stockroom as everyone else was out. Because the warehouse takes precedence, I put a sign up on the stockroom door to see me in the warehouse and planted myself in the warehouse with the tunes going. Overall Monday was a really slow day, and by that I mean no shipping came my way and no one bothered me. Today was spent getting caught up on receiving. Now that we're caught up all is well. Well, off to get some receiving in the stockroom put away. Have a good evening, Gents!

I've enjoyed cooking again, as well as learning some new techniques. I like avacado, but just by itself with some salt. Or, maybe some mayo.

Sounds about right. I got your timeline right here...

Thanks. In March, I asked for a raise. I was denied. So, I'm retiring August 31. I've got 2 weeks of vacation and 1 month of sick leave to burn. At what point does the boss just move on. Ugh.

Hope the back is better. I've got one that hurts from time to time. Had an MRI and had a herniated disc. Maybe it's that, or old age, or fatness. Glad you had a slow day to make up for it.

Wednesday again. Hope too get the last of the research in over the next few days. Been a busy year even though I have a lot less out. The weather has been as much of a challenge as anything else. On a positive note, they are going to start issuing driver permits again so DD can hopefully get that in the next couple of weeks. Still no word on road tests so DS is out of luck on getting his license.

Hope everyone's day is more humpy than mine.

Waited on hold with Disney. Wild Africa Trek cancelled/ refunded. I guess they don't want us to give the lions COVID if we get within 6 feet of them. So, it's now wait until the new system is created and try to re-reserve it.

Never got thru yesterday, but made the appointment today for youngest's permit test.

Afternoon, o' Dads of Dis. The weather turned downwards overnight, now overcast and looking a bit rainy. 10k on the horizon in half an hour (to be clear, that's start time, not projected completion time). So, right after shutting down for COVID, we are shut again for riots. Not a great time to be a retailer.

Another fun packed day making friends all over the planet, telling them they can't have stuff because they have Champagne tastes and Ginger Beer money. I'm on a 48 hour fast, so chewing my fingers right now for a bit of nutrition. I get to eat again at 5pm tomorrow night.

I guess they don't want us to give the lions COVID if we get within 6 feet of them.
I think it was that you put in a special request to pack a portable BBQ.

9 lb lemons trump hidden Lions
Trump has hidden Lions? That would make an awesome follow up to Tiger King. Lion President. They're yooge. And beautiful. In fact, there the most yooge and beautiful Lions there ever were. What am I doing with this sardine oil, Melania?

Have a great afternoon chaps.
