MAY 2020 WISH Challenge - Anything is Possible

Didn't find a game that seemed really engaging, so here's a question for
SOCIAL SATURDAY

What is the best meal you ever had?

It's not nearly in the same category as the other answers, but a chicken cutlet sub from S&G! (a place near where I went to college) I had just gotten over being really sick, and it was the first real meal I wanted. Nothing ever tasted better.

Also have a tough time coming up with just one.

For overall experience reading @sjrec 's answer reminded me of a dinner I had in Hawaii with my Mom, we wandered over to a hotel down the street from where we were staying and their restaurant happened to be an open aired patio on the beach side so we were sitting outside, facing the ocean at sunset. I had Mahi Mahi for the first time and it was all such a wonderful unplanned surprize.

Food wise its a tie between a dinner of fried oysters and broccoli salad I had at my favorite restaurant/hotel down at Long Beach. The oysters were local Willapa Bay petites fried to a perfect crispiness and the salad was crunchy and light. Plus the restaurant is at the top of the hotel facing the beach/ocean and yep, there was a sunset involved... and a Hemingway Daiquiri. Other choice would be Flying Fish starting with the bread with flakes of salty nori goodness and freshly made butter. Then I had their version of fried oysters and an apple and burrata salad... and a Hemingway, that the bartender was s pleased he knew how to make.

My tummy gets happy just thinking about it!

55 years of meals...narrowing down to one! I think I will have to expand that a little.

My nephew is a 5-star chef and owner of a gourmet restaurant on Long Island, NY. I can honestly say that anything my nephew prepares is the best meal I have ever had. Eating at his restaurant is a real treat, but Christmas prime rib dinner at his home wins, hands-down.

At WDW, California Grill and Narcoossees are my favorites, but I will narrow it down to our 25th anniversary dinner at Narcoossees. The best dessert I have ever had was that night at Narcoossees, Almond crusted cheesecake.

Looks fabulous! A good friend’s son in law is a chef and when they rent a beach house for the week he does the meals-when we hear what he fixes we are all jealous!

This is great-I’m going to share it with my group of friends.

I’m sitting outside enjoying the fresh air right now. And I have to admit, I enjoy cute animal videos. My favorite right now is Chunk, the Canadian groundhog captured on camera eating a man’s garden.
Since I can’t book a pedicure appointment I did my toes myself. I was putting that off, but they look much better now that it’s sandal season.

Have a good day, everyone!

Oh, I like this!
I just got back from a run/walk session. Our local university is doing a virtual 5k for $15 (free if I didn't want a shirt) so I registered for it and did it this morning. I smashed my old 1 mi PR time and I'm really proud of that. I'm still slower than a turtle in peanut butter but it's progress. There is another one Wednesday (My Big Run, you all can register for it!) and I could have combined the two but I feel like that is cheating so I didn't and I'll do another 5k on Wednesday.

I'm looking forward to seeing the June challenges in this forum!

Rough night. Still hyper emotional today, and probably will be for a while. Downtown Seattle was broken and ripped apart last night by anarchist and white supremacist groups that overtook the Black Lives Matter protest. Our flagship store was broken into and looted, along with 25 or so other businesses in the retail core. It was gut wrenching to watch it happen and not be able to do anything about it.

The media is doing a good job this morning separating the destruction from the intent of the original protest, and making sure the anti-racism message isn't lost. Hopefully this will rally even more people to the cause of anti-racism, and we'll start making some progress forward.

My county is not going to Phase 2 Monday: the Stay-at-home order is expiring today and the Governor issued revised criteria for a Phase 1.5, which allows many businesses to open but with less % occupancy than in Phase 2. The County can't file for it until tomorrow and approval will come mid-week, so my Monday morning hair appointment is a no-go. Last night I cut the back off myself, I think it was a stress response to what was going on. It pretty much looks like someone hacked it with a pair of scissors, but I only care about how it feels, and getting the hair off my neck feels great.

I didn't get much of a beach walk in yesterday, when I got down there the lightning and thunder from the storm rolling in started, so I headed right back to the car. It's rainy this morning but not stormy, so after I eat breakfast I'll head down and try to walk off some of this stress.

For cute animal videos, on IG I follow quite a few sheep farms, so the past few months my feed has been full on frolicing lambs... such a happy, happy thing.

How adorable!!

And virtual ((hugs)) on the rest. - When these things get out of hand, it's like it becomes a step backward, not a step forward. I so wish we could all just get along!

So far from today's self-care list, I have done cute animal videos, water, fresh air, and music.

I'm not very good at the mindfulness breathing stuff, but I did watch Council of Dads with DH, which is always a good excuse for a few cathartic tears. :rolleyes1

For my three nice things: I'm curious, I'm reliable, and I'm becoming a better cook.

I “booked an appointment” with my son to clean out his closet and drawers. The. I went and cleaned out mine as well. I have 2 big bags of clothes for my nephews. They’ll be so excited! Yesterday I also cleaned out and organized the basement storage room. I had to make some room for all the stuff I’m going to bring home from my classroom this week. I feel like I accomplished a lot this weekend.

I’m also excited that both kids are going to spend the night at my parents tonight. my daughter will be there to help with my baby nephew. And my son will be going fishing with my dad. And my husband and I can have an at home date night in peace :)

I got outside to clean the outdoor furniture today. DH finally opened the pool, so it was time to bleach everything and make it new.

I drink water all day every day.

I was watching the movie, "The Seagull" based on the play by Anton Chekhov. A period piece, it took me to another time, and for a few moments, I drifted off. It's not exactly a mindfulness breathing exercise, but in those moments, I felt absolute calmness.

Only cancelling appointments right now.

"Rise Up" by Andra Day makes me smile.

Yesterday I was watching a BBC special on the South Pacific, and I really enjoyed watching the penguins. There's a lot of YouTube videos about penguins, and they make me happy.

I'm loving, funny, and artistic.

It was rough here last night too in Cleveland. The building that my office is on was vandalized. We got word today that we will not be going into the office this week and will continue to work from home. The rioter broke windows to a cupcake place that the workers were still inside. They had to lock and barricade themselves int he bathroom until cops got there. They destroyed everything. They has nothing left not even cases for the cupcakes. The downtown area is under a curfew until 8am tomorrow.

How frightening.

Sorry to hear that, so many cities are affected right now. We're hopeful that there won't be a recurrence tonight, as it is generally believed the ones who did the damage were not local. The National Guard has been called in supplement the police force, so that should help if they do resurface. We made two posts to our company IG account yesterday, about the racisms issues not specifically about the damage/looting. The comments are now being filled with posts from supremacists bots... as a company we've always been intentionally a-political, so I was proud to see leadership taking a stand.

It sounds a lot like the same here. Most that were arrested were from out of town. We are hoping that their is no recurrence today as well. Right now the police and National Guard have the downtown area shut down. No one is able to get in. There are rumors of people going to malls in the area. A few have shut down some with a higher police presence. So far nothing yet. Hoping it stays that way.

You motivated me this morning! I’ve been running about a mile. Some days it’s more of a run/walk. But that’s all mental. I used to be a sports girl. I played field hockey, basketball and softball in high school. In college, I played every intramural sport I could including those 3, flag football, soccer, volleyball and street hockey. But I’ve always HATED just running. But I know it’s good for me, so pretty much every year I try again. Last year I ran my first 5K without walking. But then I got sick right afterwards (just a bad cold), but hadn’t run since then until this spring. Well, today I got to my usual mile and thought of your 5k on Wednesday and thought I would keep going. And I was able to get another mile in. So I ran 2 miles straight today. We’ll see how I do on Wednesday with your virtual 5K. Thanks for the extra push ;)
I hope you join us in the June group 😊
