I would be careful ordering from amazon right now. They are delaying regular orders. Ordered a salad spinner yesterday that said delivery tomorrow when I ordered but confirmation email says april 21. They may be better about their own sticks/products but I don't know. You may be able to pay for expedited shipping.

So all be cautious when ordering non essentials from amazon. Needless to say the cracked salad spinner was resucued from the trash when my friend told me about the month delay this morning. I get it but I don't.

@afan yea I’m not sure how they are making the decision or if its by where the product is etc.

Ordered 2 things of snake repellant (copperheads are back) and some baby spoons. Snake repellant came in 24 hours and spoons will hopefully be within a week. Maybe they just felt bad for my snake issue lol

Don't tell me you've seen snakes already this year :scared1: We need to order some snake away asap!

Like many of you I will probably need to cancel a few trips coming up. And of course used cards to meet MSR and Points. Just want to make sure I do everything correct.

1. Vegas/Disney May Trip - Vegas for 12 people and Disney for 3.
Rooms are Combo UR Points/SW Card (used to meet MSR). Can cancel up to 3 days prior so will get UR Points back and about $700 will go back on SW Card. Assuming just use the credit so I still meet the spend even though it will be after the 90 day period. Chase is not know to claw back if I eventually make up the $ credited..

2. Airfare is UR Points booked with Delta. Right now Delta has extended waiving fees until May 31. So assuming I can just get the UR's back in my account with no fees? Been seeing mixed reports on who to contact - Chase or Delta?

3. Disneyland Tickets - Booked them through LMT Travel. They don't send out voucher until 30 days prior so pretty sure they are letting people cancel. (I won't be back there this was just an add on to the Vegas Trip). These were bought with DH Delta AMEX while meeting MSR. I have already received the Reward Points. Can I just spend more to use up the refund?

4. Alaska Cruise - Cruise itself is a combo of CSR Payment and Carnival Corp Gift Cards I got with MR Points. Should get refunded the same. Excursion I just cancelled was also on DH Delta Amex but nothing showing up as a refund yet. Plan is to just spend on the card to make up for the refund.

5. Alaska Airfare - Combination of Delta Points and Cash and UR Points. Hoping Delta extends their policy to waive fees then I can hopefully get my Delta Points/Cash and UR Points back.

Good thing I made a spreadsheet of everything. Still holding out hope for the Vegas/Disney Trip but not sure if that is realistic at this point...

We’ve been ordering lots of stuff from Amazon. They’ve been putting longer than normal delivery dates but a lot of our stuff is coming earlier. The coloring book I got today said Thursday

This has been my experience as well. Also they are prioritizing delivery for more essential items. I can't judge every individual decision on that, but on the whole I believe they are behaving as a responsible component of the nationwide supply chain.

But there's a difference between it saying thurs and getting it today and it not saying I'll get it for a month. Why is a coloring book more important than a cooking item? Both can be done without.

I also live in amazons home, we have plenty of distribution centers aroubd here yet most of my stuff comes from out of state. I don't know that the dog food was local last time either. It's more annoying that the date was still showing tuesday when I checked out vs what the confirmation said. I realize there's a policy but clearly they aren't following it or are using judgement on what's actually needed. Don't let me buy it if you want to delay it imo. And I coyld cancel but that's a hassle and I'm sure that's what they're counting on.

I suspected it was highly likely my kids were out of school for the year but hearing it was seriously disappointing. Mainly concerned about DS and algebra. I may have eaten a lot of peanut butter cups after I heard the announcement. I can't imagine how I'm going to keep him busy for 5.5 months and I'm guessing summer jobs will be hard to come by. DD can lifeguard if the pool opens but she doesn't want to (she was having nightmares last year about kids drowning). I'm getting ahead of myself.

Still struggling with August Alaska cruise. I think DCL will have to cancel but I'm better off if they cancel than if I do. But I also feel like I want to take control of something!

@Limes96 I have bad news for you. You are interpretting their policy correctly. My parents have a cash first class flight that was booked last May for this April and they were only offered vouchers good through May 2020. Its absurd. My parents have elite status too. They decided to just wait to see if the flight would be cancelled after spending 8+ hours on hold snd arguing with them. If you get a different outcome PLEASE let me know as I have been trying to urge my dad to keep pressure on them.

“Funny” enough a few months back when I was debating United vs Delta for a flight my dad said to avoid United at all cost and mentioned they only fly them if they have no choice. Guess he was right.

Thanks for the confirmation. I figured this was the case since optimism regarding United policies is usually not warranted. :sad2: I think the deadline for doing making changes is April 30 so I’ll probably just wait and see what happens over the next month.

What I’m looking forward to:
1. Being able to take my grandkids on outings again.
2. Going back to work. God, I hope this happens. I work on a school, and our pay status is still up in the air. I do have a big enough emergency fund to get by, I think, but it’s scary to think I may have to use it all.
3. Not having to worry about two of my three kids’ jobs.
4. Not feeling anxious from all the unknowns.
5. Deciding to make a new dish and being able to stop in the store to buy the ingredients. Technically, I can still do this, but I’m trying to keep out of the store for at least the next two weeks.
6. Hopping a train to NYC to see a show.

And yet.....I’m trying to remind myself this could be worse. I just wish everything would just close for a while so we can get through this. This piecemeal stuff is driving me nuts. And I’m trying to reframe things after listening to the book Atomic Habits. The author gives a few examples. Instead of saying “ugh, I have to get up this morning,” it’s better if one says, “yay, I get to get up this morning.” That substitution of that one word, get for have, makes a huge difference. I’m trying.

Yeah I saw the same thing when I went to replace my old Kitchen Aid immersion blender and pick up some laptop accessories. Now I'm looking at ordering from traditional big box stores or directly from manufacturers/small businesses. A lot of stores are offering free shipping now. I ended up ordering my blender off Bed Bath and Beyond with the usual 20% off coupon and free shipping.

I've been wanting to wean myself from Amazon anyway even before this happened because I'm not a fan of their business practices (I'm a writer) and trying to utilize retailers with Shoprunner since I have it for free through World Elite MC.

Hi, question for folks with "non-essential" office jobs living somewhere with a shelter-in-place order in effect: are people still allowed to go into their buildings to print stuff, pay bills, handle incoming/outgoing mail, etc.? I feel like I can't get a straight answer from any of my research. Based on the Dallas County order I was reading last night, my workplace would probably be considered non-essential and I'm not looking to get a fine or a ticket so that our office plant service invoice can get paid on time :/ My boss has a whole spiel planned for if we need to go attend to a signing but I'm more concerned about the day-to-day logistics of my job.

Sorry, I know this if off-topic, but I'm just trying to figure out what I need to grab from the office while I'm in tomorrow. Also need to figure out if I should take my entire desktop printer home with me or if I can get away with just buying replacement ink for my crappy Epson at home :rotfl2:

Looking forward to:
  1. younger dd going back to college and being able to hopefully reschedule her Vienna internship for a full semester
  2. older dd and ds's fiancee having jobs again
  3. the rescheduled wedding, who knows when that will happen (was to be May 2)
  4. being able to sleep properly
  5. having dh's stress level decrease
  6. seeing my sisters again
  7. visiting my elderly aunties in California
  8. seeing my gym friends in person! we've been working out on zoom with our trainer but it's just not the same
  9. the farmers' market (runs May-Thanksgiving here)
  10. our trip to Australia in September
  11. a quiet house
