Would you still go?

All amenities in WH are open and will remain open from what I have been told. I would go and enjoy your vacation and family time but do so responsibly with social distancing and doing your best to dine at the condo (cooking or take out, etc.)

No.
I just cancelled all of our trips through the end of the year. With all of this going on, it isn't even fun to pretend we're planning. I had deposit money out on five trips to various destinations. I'd rather not have those funds tied up during this time of uncertainty.
If, and I do mean if, this has all come to pass later this year, then maybe I'll rebook something. Right now, vacations aren't a priority for me. I just want to get this behind us.

No - I wouldn't go. If you are healthy and safe at home - you have a responsibility to stay there. It totally sucks having to miss your vacation - but it would suck even more to get sick or unknowingly pass the symptoms along to someone else.

We have to do everything we can to prevent more people from getting sick so that we don't overwhelm our healthcare system - do your part and stay home. And know that you are helping the greater good.

Stay home. This was a question many people have been asking over the last couple of weeks but these last few days life had changed drastically for all. You know who your doctors are at home. You have all of your supplies at home. You are likely at least somewhat prepared at home. Don't overburden the system in Florida. It sucks, I know. We cancelled our trip to Florida, we were supposed to drive down on April 5.

We are going. We have a house rented at Story lake with our own pool. . I am having food delivered via instacart and will get take out. As of today the property is set to keep amenities (pool and lazy river) open but we will be just fine if it is closed.

Well...lets think this thru. I must admit, I like your idea/plan and this would be what I would WANT to do. But the posts above do bring up good points of what if a family member gets sick and needs to be quarantined for a long unknown period of time. Suppose they stop flights going in and out of Florida? There are so many "what-ifs". I like your idea because you are still isolated from others by renting a single home with a private pool. I like the idea of still being isolated but enjoying vacation amenities. You aren't planning on interacting with others outside of your family members. My concern would be a family member getting sick and a need for quarantine away from home. However, other people are still traveling. If all families currently still traveling were staying in single homes with their own pool and have grocery delivery and no interaction with anyone else it may not be that bad. But the fear of a family member getting sick while away from home would be enough to scare me. Therefore I would probably cancel my vacation. But it sounds like you are still traveling with a plan of isolation. Please come back and share your adventure. I am curious to know how things went. Take care and good luck.

Please don’t come! The odds of you even finding groceries is slim (my stores are empty) and take out could be affected as well by supply issues. I had to cancel a vacation with elements I can’t get back or reschedule so I know it stinks. Do a staycation where you are and enjoy the time with your family there, not here.

I do not mean any disrespect to you, or the people who want to go and stated they are still going, and the only thing I can think of is that this hasn't started to hit your areas yet the way it is in mine. If it did, the very last thing on your mind would be leaving your house right now or encouraging others to do so also.

We are about two hours from both NYC and Philly, both are hit hard. We are on lockdown for all non life sustaining businesses, my family members are out of work and having to rely on paid vacation time to get through before they can apply for unemployment, our grocery stores are largely bare, they do get shipments but not everything gets stocked so it's hit and miss to find what you need or want. People line up in the mornings before store open and then crowd in together to try to get needed supplies, how's that for social distancing? No necessary cleaning supplies to speak of, we have active cases in our town so we wear gloves to go out if we have to go to the store, and now that it's here we have some masks if we need to leave the house. My nephew's friend has a fever, cough, fatigue, chills and has tried three times to get a test and still hasn't. NOTHING is open, no restaurants (limited take out), bars, movie theaters, malls, arenas. Our rest stops are even closed, and they've stopped transportation vans from my town into NYC to try to get a handle on this.

I am genuinely confused as to why someone would still want to leave their house with all this going on, potentially putting themselves and/or others in danger of spreading it.
The cold hard reality is that this is just getting started. We need to all mentally prepare for our old lives not returning until there are viable treatment protocols. I view it as my duty to humanity to hunker down.
/\ This times 1000! We are only 5 days into our state's lockdown and everything is drastically different. We have two deaths in my state, our county's cases tripled overnight. The more it spreads, the more restrictions we have. This is the reality. I cancelled our May trip because I don't think anything will be anywhere near resolved by then.

Be safe everyone.

I would not go because I feel it is my responsibility at this time to stay home.

However, if you do go my concern would be basic supplies, as others have mentioned. In Pennsylvania we are having a supply and food issue. Today we did “distanced family shopping” with multiple members of our extended family going to different stores and waiting in line for opening and purchasing food and other supplies for one another (and ourselves). We then did a combo of curb side pickup/drop off and trunk drops offs. We had to do this just for basic food and supplies for the week.

Imagine if you went all the way to Florida and spent the entire time trying to find toilet paper, chicken or eggs? No fun and it’s mentally draining.

I do not believe Disney World will be opening any time soon. Watch Shanghai Disney and see when they fully open. They closed on January 25, 2020 and the park is still not open. So I would guess that Disney World would open closer to May.
About getting food deliveries in Florida - I live in NYC and I have been trying to get food delivered to my parents in NJ and any local supermarkets didn't have any delivery times left and Instacart had a 3 day wait - and we will see what actually gets delivered. I wouldn't go anywhere like other people said. Things change daily so now it might not be that bad in FL but that could change drastically.

I feel for you, I do. I imagine the trip you had planned and realize it was supposed to be special. We live just north of Tampa. Stay home. Beaches nearest to us have finally closed. People NEED to stay home, essential travel only. Too many variables can happen, you or family getting sick etc. Stores are running low on so many things in our area. This is a pandemic. Plans get cancelled during a pandemic. Is it fun? Heck no, but you can replan a trip. Plan something for your college aged kid first summer home. Plan an even more special trip than the one you had planned. Spend time at home just being together.

I need help from the hive! We have a split stay vacation planned for March 27-Apr 4. Six nights in a WH condo and 2 nights at POR. We were planning on doing a day at HS and a day at EP, but mostly just hanging out in the sunshine and warmth. Obviously, we can't do our resort stay, or park time, but what about the condo stay? We would be driving from MI, getting groceries delivered, and sticking around the condo pool most of the time with maybe a day or two at the beach (all places we can stay 6+ feet away from anyone else). I'm just having a really hard time letting it go. This will be our last spring break before our oldest goes off to college. We might be able to squeeze in a quick long weekend trip this summer to make it to the parks, but we won't be able to stay long enough to use the condo, and we can't get a refund (only move the dates). What would you do? Can we self-quarantine in FL instead of MI? Don't get me wrong, I want to do my part to keep everyone safe and healthy, I'm just wondering if I can do it from FL ;).

:crazy2:Due to such a disconnect between the travel company and their vendors, ( travel company saying my trip is a "go" while their vendors and or the travel companies venues were either canceling, shortening their hours and or opening late, I was able to "Connect the Dots" if you will and I chose to cancel my Paris France trip.
Which my vacation there would have included seeing -

Disneyland Paris, the Beaches of Normandy, Champagne, Monmarte, Mulon Rouge etc to just name a few.......
Mind you, this trip has been a bucket list trip of mine for about the last 5 to 6 years......

ANYWHO -
9 days later (March 11th), the travel company (Trafaglar.com) FINALLY took the car key out of their ear and canceled all their trips at least through end of April.:thanks:

So.....
to me it would be very unwise to go as I feel your vacation would have the corona virus feel hanging over it and who wants to be on a vacation when NOTHING will be open??

PLEASE DO NOT GO ON YOUR VACATION -

I mean, here I am - hoping that my September vacation is an actual "GO" but who knows at this point -

As someone who is in the epicenter for infection, where do you think you would be more safe? An area who is pushing over 10,000 cases (tristate area) or Orlando area which has less than 50 cases? If you can get there, why would you not want to get out of the most infected area in the entire United States? Heck, why would you not consider going anywhere other than NYC right now? Your chances of your family getting infected are exponentially higher than just about anywhere else in the world. With that in mind, I stand by my suggestion to go.

Orlando and FL overall hasn't ramped up testing like NYC...by next weekend, if FL does (and it's seems like they are now trying to do so), there's no doubt they will be on NY's path...

I agree that right now there are to many unknowns to consider traveling and the risks to both yourselves and others.
With that said I do think that given that this will be around for likely a year of more, that there may be ways to take vacations with similar risks to staying at home if your vacation style is just to be with the family that you are regularly with and you are not a "need to go out" family.

I have an outer banks house reserved for August so I am gong through that thought process assuming that they are open.

5 hour straight through driving range so no major issues there. We can pack all the food and supplies we needs.

As silly as it sounds we are not really lay on the beach people so the (private) pool, hot tub and board games are our entertainment, well except I like to get up before dawn and shell, watch the sun rise and the dolphins, so no separation issues. for those who have not outer banks it would be possible to do proper distancing on the beach during the shoulder seasons on the north and south beaches.

I am sure we would do a full wipe down of the property just in case. If something goes wrong we can be back home in 5 hours or less given traffic
