I just spoke with a DVC representative regarding our trip on March 14-16 trip, which we may cancel.
DVC is willing to wave those points being placed into a "Holding Account".
Those points will be banked to our next use year.

You might want to post this in the DVC Member Services board as well. There are probably many folks over there wanting to know!

Did you cancel?

What is the use year of these points?

We have a Aug.UY with a resize for 4/18,I'm starting to worry and going to give it another week before we possibly cancel. These are 2020 points is it possible they'd let us not have to have them placed into holding?

Same here. June use year borrowed points for our May trip. Will these points go back to 2020 use year or gone.

I called ms, yesterday, about cancelling our trip that starts this coming Saturday. It was booked on borrowed points. Not only did they say we would not end up with the points in holding, they offered to return the points to the year from which they were borrowed. They were lovely.

Sounds like how they took care of us when we were canceled because of hurricane Irma.

I was surprised that there hasn’t been any info coming out of dvc on this situation. Anyone who has an upcoming trip is concerned how this will be handled. I have a cruise and 2 weeks at Bwv starting April 18th. While I’m pretty sure the cruise won’t happen, I am hoping to still do the dvc side unless we get sick prior. A little reassurance from dvc helps.

So I just got off with member service. They said they are looking at each member's situation. They told me since my points are borrowed as long as I call before 31 days they will put days back in June 2020 year. I asked her if i had to make that decision right now she told me no; 31 days before check-in. So if you have concerns call them and they will help you to figure out what your options are.

Great article.

I will start here this morning - I think our country should be on lockdown already. Why wait? It is only going to keep spreading. Give everyone a few days to get some extra necessities (many have already) and be on lockdown. Do we have to wait until we reach that point?

We haven't cancelled yet, but concerned what may happen by our April trip. Good to know they will bank the points if needed.

Folks, let’s keep the off topic stuff out of the thread, please. If you want to discuss public policy, there are a number of threads running on the Community board.

This thread should remain focused on cancellation policy for DVC bookings.

(I know the topic is better suited to the DVC Member Services board, but I’m going to leave the post here, in the spirit of sharing useful information.)
